NICE RALLIES WITH BF GOODRICH TIRES

NUT SHELL TIME SAVER!  This a nice looking car, its a nice driver quality, its no $100,000 roll out of the trailer show queen. It runs good, it starts good, it looks good, its not perfect. If your looking for a 100 point show car for a bargain price "keep looking", if your looking for a looking for a good driver quality this may be for you. The prices on a real GTO have gone crazy, my real price is $16,999, study my price compared to the others on ebay motors and other sites. The car is priced fair.

I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm almost 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday. I'm a retired auto mechanics instructor and was a helicopter mechanic and instructor in the Army in the late 60s. I will check my email a couple of times.

WILL I SELL THE CAR OFF EBAY MOTORS? I'm not crazy, I will sell to you direct. Come look, or if you have lots of nerve buy direct. I'll tell you what to do later in my listing. I know most guys use ebay for research and don't trust buying without coming to inspect. I welcome you to come and look the care over.

VIN    242177P151313     HISTORY: I can't tell you a thing other than it was owned by a man near Cincinnati, Ohio.

TITLE: Clear  title in hand with a VIN that matches, I am a mechanic, but I have dealers license to keep things legal, title will be transferred from me as a dealer.

IS THIS A REAL GTO? I think if you run the VIN you will find that it is, their is documents in the car that says it is, looks like the build sheet also.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?     No rust bubbles in the paint, the underside is ugly, its not painted smooth and shinny, but the frame looks solid, the floors look original with some small patching, the mounts look good, its no a restored underside, its a driver.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell.

PAINT: The paint has a brilliant shine, no dents, no dings, the car is more than reasonable straight to look down the sides, I see a couple of chips that have been touched up, I see a very tiny crack at the corner of where the drip rail ends, it touched up and very small.  The color looks like Chevrolets marina blue, its a medium blue with lots of metallic.  I'm giving you a picky paint job inspection, the paint would be consider real nice. Past owner saved the left over paint from the paint job and its still good.

CHROME:      Very nice chrome, the bumpers look like they were just rechromed, the headlight bezels great, grill good, emblems good other than faded paint, vent window frames have some dulling. The large rocker panel molding are great as well as the drip rail molding.

INTEROR:  The interior has no bad smells, it is not new, but good with no real wear, the dash no cracks, the door panels are good, the headliner looks like new, the carpet decent, the painted semi flat trim on the doors is faded and dull.

UNSERSIDE:

It is good, but ugly!!!!!!!!!!  The frame is solid, the body mount look good, the floors look original, but have some small patching, some rusty color surface metal, the rear drop downs have some rusty edges on the thin metal. I consider the car structurally solid, but un-restorer and ugly.

GLASS:  The glass is good, the windshield looks like new, the side windows look good used condition, the back window good. The window roll up and down good other than the drivers side quarter window, its goes up and down but does better if you help it.

SOUND SYSTEM: Original AM radio hums, but does not play.

HOOD TACHOMETER WORKS!

ENGINE: The engine runs good, its a 6.6 V8, 400 cubic inch. It runs good, no knocks, no rattles and no blue smoke. It has a Edelbrock carburetor.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Nice sounding exhaust system, its old but usable and has cheap parts store tips and pitted pipes, but no holes or leaks.

TRANSMISSION:

Turbo 400 that shifts good with no slip, this is a 3 speed automatic. It needs a dust cover.

REAR-END: No whines or growls, it original and has highway gearing.

BRAKES:

Drum brakes all around and they stop decent, no power assist.

STEERING: The steering is good, the car is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES : 14 inch Pontiac Rallies with good BF Goodrich 235/60/14 tires.

LIGHTS and wiring: The head lights work, the tail lights work, the brake lights work and the turn signals work.

Interior  dome light works.

THE GAS GAUGE WORKS! SPEEDMETER WORKS! Horn not working! Wipers work!  Heater blower works.

.

GUAGES: The gauges are old school and in a pod under the dash.

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? They open and close good.

HOW IS THE RUBBER WEATHER-STRIPPING? Soft and good.

HOW IS THE BODY PANEL FIT? I consider it good other than the trunk fit, a lot of the fit problem is tight rubber.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.  Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I DO NOT SHOW CAR ON SUNDAY>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am almost 66 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 42 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 66 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but some of them do not impress me at all,  they can make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $16,999 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

IS THERE A WARRANTY? No! Come inspect, judge and drive the vehicle all you want to because I do not offer a warranty on classic vehicles. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type, they are the way I see the vehicle. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected this vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to purchase based upon that judgment solely. Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek

Tue, Jul 11 2017

Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone. Vitruvian Energy crowdfunding to make EEB, a trashy biofuel

Sat, Nov 22 2014

When sewage is treated at a wastewater treatment facility, biosolids are the byproduct. After being separated from the water, biosolids are usually sent to a landfill or incinerated. That doesn't mean that they're without value, however. Vitruvian Energy has created a process to make a usable fuel out of this human waste product, and while the source is pretty gross, it is undeniably abundant, and the results are much cleaner. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon. In a process that Vitruvian Energy claims is energy efficient, biosolids are femented and introduced to a type of bacteria to create PHA plastic. Reacting the PHA with ethanol creates the ethyl-3-ethoxybutyrate (EEB) biofuel. Vitruvian says EEB can be blended up to 20 percent with gasoline or diesel without any engine modifications. This lowers the carbon footprint of the fuel it's blended into, and serves to oxygenate diesel, leading to fewer harmful emissions. EEB can also be made using other organic waste products, such as corn stover, rice straw and distillers grains. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon and isn't subject to the maddening market fluctuations and international politics of fossil fuels. Furthermore, EEB's carbon footprint is 70 percent less than that of fossil fuels. Vitruvian also sees potential for EEB to be used on its own to power vehicles or burned to produce electricity for the grid. So far, Vitruvian Energy has used grants from the California Energy Commission and National Science Foundation to develop EEB, and has tested the fuel in a Pontiac Solstice at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Now, Vitruvian is wants to test EEB on a larger scale in the real world in order to prove EEB's viability to interested parties in the wastewater treatment industry. In an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Vitruvian Energy hopes to raise $200,000 to build a prototype EEB production line and to run a test vehicle for a year on an EEB-diesel blend on the streets of Seattle. Donors can score some interesting perks such as shirts and bumper stickers that say "Get Clean with Poopaline." Learn more about EEB in the video and press release below. Junkyard Gem: 1989 Pontiac Sunbird SE Coupe

Sat, Jun 11 2022

General Motors built the fantastically successful J-Body cars starting at the dawn of the 1980s and continuing well into our current century, on five continents. The Pontiac Division's version of the J started out being called the J2000 and the 2000, then got the Sunbird name originally used on the Pontiac-ized Chevy Monza starting in 1983. Here's a once-slick-looking 1989 Sunbird SE Coupe, found at a Minneapolis-area boneyard way back in 2016. The best-known of all the J-Body cars, here, was the Chevrolet Cavalier, but Pontiac far outdid even the most blinged-up Cavalier Z24 when it came to elaborate taillights. Because this is Minnesota, the car is a patchwork of various layers of junkyard-obtained rusty body parts. One fender has TURBO badges from a Sunbird GT. The other side has the correct engine badges for this model. That engine is a 2.0-liter, single-overhead-cam straight-four from an engine family originally developed for the Opel Kadett D. This one was rated at 96 horsepower when new. This one has the automatic transmission, so it wouldn't have been very much fun to drive. Check out that cool parking brake handle, though! And, hey, is that a full can of Colorado Cool-Aid in the foot well? You'd think a proper Minnesota Pontiac would at least be full of Grain Belt cans. It appears that Higley Ford in Windom, Minn., had this car on the lot at some point. Windom is closer to Sioux Falls than to Minneapolis. This final mileage total looks good for a car living in Tinworm Country. Pontiac built this generation of Sunbird from the 1988 through 1994 model years, though it was really just a facelift of the first-generation cars. Starting in 1995, the Pontiac J-Body became the Sunfire, and production continued until the J platform itself got the axe in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. In the 90s, fun will become the exclusive province of the rich. To which the Sunbird driver replies, "Bullish!"
