I am selling my 1967 GTO Convertible, it is red with a parchment interior. The top is going to be whatever you decide because I have not installed it. It will be 1500 to 2000 dollars to have the top professionally installed (I have 2 price quotes). I have all the bows and the top works hydraulically. It has a new pump motor and cylinders. The motor is a 1967 gto 400 WS, not original to this car and it has a Muncie 4 speed from 1969. The motor was built to match a 69 ram air 4 specs and this car has a lot of power. The enginewas rebuilt at  a cost of over $6000 dollars, this car was built to move and move quickly and it sure does that.I have about 600 miles on the car since rebuild. I have installed a complete new front disk brake system and new rear drums from Stainless Steel Brakes. The car stops fine. I added power steering, the car was originally gold with a black top and the only options that came with the car was 4 speed transmission, rally one wheels and the console. I would say the paint is a 5 footer. The hood needs to be wet sanded to make take out the imperfections as I had to match the paint. It looks good for a local car show, and excellent driving down the highway at 65 mph. The speedometer bounces after you hit 55 or so, it is a repop instrument cluster but the new wiring harness was not cut, I spliced in old connecters so if I went back to original I would only have to disconnect the splices, in other words the new wiring harness was not cut into. The wiring harnesses are all new, as is well just about everything on this car. I have moog suspension parts installed, new exhaust and new tires. The interior is parchment from PUI and was professionally installed. The car will need  a new starter. I have a hi-torque starter on it and when it is cold it doesn't engage it just freewheels, very annoying. Like I said this car was made to get from point a to point b as quick as possible and to look cool while doing it, I think it passes on that part. It is not in any way shape or form to be a trailer queen drive to a car show or parade only car, this is too much fun to drive for that. So you will need a radio, top, and a starter, oh, and the dash pad needs to be replaced, I am always looking for a good one as I do not like repop parts.. if we put the top on it will be ready for PA. antique car tags. If you have any questions please ask and if needed I can take more pictures. Pick or delivery is the buyers responsibility. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have local interest in the car.

GM replacing passenger airbags in over 243,000 Pontiac Vibes

Sat, Jun 20 2015

General Motors is repairing over 243,000 additional examples of the 2003-2007 Pontiac Vibe in the US and Canada to replace their Takata-supplied passenger-side airbag inflators. The company has no reports of irregular deployments in the models, though. These aren't actually newly included vehicles in the massive safety campaign. As a twin to the Toyota Matrix, the Vibe was already included in Toyota's figures, but as Pontiac-branded vehicles, GM dealers are taking care of these replacements. They have been covered as part of the Takata campaign in the past. Toyota expanded its own Takata recall to passenger-side components for 1.365 million vehicles on June 16. Earlier, General Motors also issued a campaign for 330,198 examples of the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 3500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and 3500HD pickups to replace their passenger-side parts. After exposure to moisture, it's possible for these inflators to ignite too quickly in an accident and spray shrapnel at occupants. GM Statement The Vibes are included in two Toyota recall campaigns - one for high absolute humidity (HAH) areas and one for non-HAH areas. Both are considered national recalls even though only vehicles in certain HAH states and territories are in the recall. Total Pontiac Vibe passenger air bag numbers for MY 2003-2007 (U.S. and Canada only): High Absolute Humidity 89,719 Non High Absolute Humidity areas 252,685 These are the totals, which include about 99,000 previously recalled. GM knows of no field issues - irregular deployments - with these air bag inflators.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?

Mon, Aug 31 2020

UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
