1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible Numbers Matching. - I purchased this as a family project for my Dad and I and my two nephews to restore together.  Unfortunately, that dream is over due to family squabbles.  My father, who built street rods back in the day, turns 76 on October 1st and it just isn't working out for us to get this done.

The hard part is over.  We had the front floor pans replaced along with the patch panels at the bottom of the rear quarters on both sides.  The hood was media blasted and all the work was done by a guy here in town who has an excellent reputation.  He did any patch work and prep work that was needed.  The previous owner had the truck pan done also.  The car is numbers matching with all the original running gear.

The car runs very strong,I don't believe there is any need to go through the engine.  It starts right up and will chirp the tires easily.  The transmission seems right on and there seems to be no hesitation at all in the shifting of the trans.  The car does come with power steering, power brakes and power top.  The frame for the top is in works well just like it should.  The car does have a new gas tank, new brake lines, and a new tune up.  I have purchased most of the interior parts from a donor vehicle to use as cores.  They will not be usable without being redone.  The car need a new top.  Both bumpers need to be re-chromed.  I got the rear core for that along with the original front bumper that came with the car.  The body is not paint-ready, it still needs some finishing before any paint can be applied.

The car has been stored inside for the last 6 years since I've had it.  The car does not come with a title, so it will be sold with a bill of sale.  I hear at car get together's that another title can be gotten easily.  The car came from Arizona and is now in Las Vegas.  I will be more than happy to help with shipping the vehicle is needed.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible

Sun, Jan 8 2023

GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.
