2008 Pontiac G6 GXP. 35,739 actual miles, Michigan salvage title.
Equipped as follows:
3.6L VVT V6 engine. Automatic, air, tilt, cruise full power everything. Power sunroof, drivers power sear, power foot petal controls. Dual front heated seats, full leather seating. Fog lamps, on star, am fm cd stereo, alloy rims, anti-lock brakes, security system, keyless entry, loaded.
Condition as follows:
This vehicle took a hit high in the mostly left front, over the main lower structure rails. It pretty much needs a complete front clip minus the following. Both front bumper fog lamp assemblies are good. The main lower structure/frame is all good and straight. The upper fender rails may need a little bit of light straightning just on the end of them where they tie in with the radiator support. Under the hood you need to replace the air duct connecting tube between the air cleaner, and the intake. I have it taped up currently so it works now not sucking air into the system. The just dip stick head is broken off. The air cleaner box itself, and the plastic left front computer mounting housing with battery cover are both bad. Two of the three wiring harness locking tabs going to the computer are broken. They both still lock down and are functual in as is condition. I have a picture showing the connectors. The car currently runs perfect and is lot driveable. No engine, suspension or complete drive line damage. From the doors back as follows. The windshield is broken, the very front edge of the left front door just needs the paint very lightly brush touched up. There is a very tiny liveable door ding in the upper front of the left rear door. A tiny scrape mark in the lower left corner of the rear bumper cover that you probably would just brush touch up. The upper front of the right rear quarter panel above the right rear door has a couple of medium sized ding marks in it. The right front door has three dings in it, along with a scratch. Two of the dings are larger ones. I would plan on repairing those dings. The interior is pretty much like new with just the steering wheel air bag being bad, and both front carpeted floor matts are missing. The rears are there and fine.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe
Thu, Feb 21 2019In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003. It even came with a remote, so bad Midwestern farmgirls could make quick getaways when caught in the act by enraged broom-wielding mothers. Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
Sat, Jun 19 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone.
