For Sale:  1984 Trans Am 15th Anniversary Special Edition
17,000 original miles

For Sale:  Very rare low production Trans Am that is original in and out and preserved since day one.  This Trans Am is incredible in person and will amaze you with its presence.   You can look long and hard to find one in this condition but I doubt you will be able to.

Body and Paint:  Take you time viewing all the pics to truly appreciate the originality of this car with all of its original body panels and paint. There isn’t even one door ding in this beauty.  The paint and decals are all original and in perfect condition.  It gets stares and thumbs up from admirers every time it is driven.   To sum up the body and paint I would say it looks time it was preserved in a time capsule.

Interior:  The entire interior is original right done to the groovy Recaro Trans Am logo sport seats.  They are all in mint condition and really pin you in the seat on acceleration and cornering.  Very cool interior for the special 15th Edition.  The plastic, dash, center console, gauges, door panels, handles, headliner, etc. all pop like a new car does.  All of the gauges work and the ac blow nice and cold.  The T-Top glass panels are nice and clear and there is a factory bag for rear compartment storage also.

Engine:  This beauty is powered with the optional 5.0 HO motor with a overdrive 4 speed automatic transmission.  It runs and drive like a new car should.  The motor compartment is all bone stock with all correct labels and tags in place.   The exhaust system was replaced with stock like system to clean it up, but I do have the original system that will go with the car.

Wheels and Tires:  All four wheels are original and in mint condition.  Just look at the pics and judge for yourself.   The tires are new BF Goodrich G Force and ride smooth and quiet.  I do have the 4 original Goodyear Gator Backs that the car was built with and they have plenty of tread if you want to return in to bone stock.

The radio was replaced with a $1,000 Blaupunk  system.  I do not have the original radio.  The power antenna works fine up and down .

Paperwork:  I have the original manuals, copy of window sticker, receipts and more that will go with the car.

If you have the opportunity to come and see and drive the car first if will put your concerns to rest quickly.  This TA is truly awesome in person.   I am offering a buy it now option for those of you who would prefer to end the auction early and purchase the car.  The price is very fair for its low miles and limited production.   I am selling the car “as is” because cars for this age are.  I will require a $2,000 deposit within two days and the balance within 7 days after auction is ended.   I can be reached at 248-760-0021 to answer questions or to discuss the purchase of the car .   Someone is going to get a great car.  I have the car advertised locally so therefore reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.    Great Opportunity.  Thank you,  Bob

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

A pair of Mitsubishis, the Mazda CX-30 and electric incentives | Autoblog Podcast #673

Fri, Apr 9 2021

This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot. Michigan floods from breached dams consume Pontiac Fiero collection

Thu, May 21 2020

“WeÂ’ve never had an event like this,” Michigan's city manager Brad Kaye said in a Detroit News story. "What we're looking at is an event that is the equivalent of a 500-year flood." Kaye is referencing the catastrophic flood that occurred in central Michigan this week after heavy rainfall was compounded by two breached dams on the Tittabawassee River. Reports say the flooding forced evacuation of up to 10,000 residents, swallowed entire towns, and destroyed thousands of properties. No casualties have been reported, according to the Detroit Free Press, but car enthusiasts will be sad to learn a Pontiac Fiero shop and collection called Forever Fieros was decimated by the natural disaster. The Tittabawassee River is located about two hours, or roughly 140 miles, north of Detroit. It starts 20-30 miles further north and flows southeast as a tributary to the Saginaw Bay Watershed. Along the way, the Tittabawassee is held up by several dams, including the Edenville dam that failed and the Sanford dam that was breached during torrential downpours. According to NPR, the federal government took away the Edenville dam's license in 2018 and suggested it could not last through a major flood. Unfortunately, that prediction was proven accurate.  Forever Fieros is located in Sanford, Michigan, which is just below Sanford Lake, which is created by the Sanford dam. So when the Edenville dam north of Sanford broke, water from Wixom Lake flooded Sanford Lake, and a berm next to the Sanford dam was overwhelmed, according to MLive. Technically the dam did not fail, but the end result was the same: an entire town underwater. The Tittabawassee reportedly crested at 35 feet, or 10 feet above flood level and 1.1 feet higher than the previous record set in 1986. According to The Drive, the man in charge of Forever Fieros, Tim Evans, had time to attempt to save his vehicles from floodwater. He reportedly moved about 12 cars to a street that doesn't typically flood, but the water level was simply too high for that to matter. A floating pole barn also reportedly struck and damaged the  Forever Fieros building.  Worsening the situation is the fact that Evans was planning to hold an auction to sell many of the Fieros. As seen on Industrial Bid, he planned to sell 12 Fieros, Fiero GTs and a Fiero Formula, ranging from 1984 through 1988. The lots included a 1984 pace car, a Lamborghini Countach kit car, and a Fiero Cosworth Pontiac Super Duty 16-valve DOHC engine.
