However over the years my young kids have found it necessary to play in my heated garage in bad weather , Car does have several small scratches in several places. The very tip of the nose was accidentally nudged by my child parking our riding lawn mower which we touched up and hardly visible driving . Any of these scratches have to be close up to see them . Driving down the road you cannot tell ."

Here you have a 1991 Formula Fire Bird , That has had numerous hours of pain and dedication . The BIRD is powered by a 1971 Corvette 350 , With a Tunnel Ram / Dual Holley 650 carb's . The transmission is the original 700R4 with a Summit Racing new clutch and overhaul set. I left the stock 3:42 Ratio rear end because we have taken our children to Va. Beach and once to Myrtle Beach . The car averaged 18 to 20 MPG set on cruise , Following the speed limits . Basic interior is stock with a few exceptions such as Outstanding sounds in the music dept. When I got the car the T-Top headliner was drooping so we have it recovered with very soft Zebra material and covered the rear speaker mount with the same . I did not hook the factory dash TACH back up because I added a very nice Auto Gauge TACH including a rev limiter as well as the optional shift light. However all other factory gauges work along with an after market oil and temp gauge . This car starts and runs like a champ , The wife can take it grocery shopping or a long Sunday drive , Which never fails to turn heads . I get so tired of stopping at every stop light and having people scream "what ya got in that thing" , I simply smile and say " Briggs & Stratton 12 HP" lol,  The rear differential has drum brakes so I purchased a rear disc differential for the car , It is also posi with 3:73 ratio gears which goes with it as well . The T-Tops are in great shape , The factory leather cover/holders are located in the back and have the matching gray block outs for the T-Tops as well . I have babied this car since day one . It does need very minor TLC with the small scratches but you'd never know it seeing it sit in a parking lot some where . It also has power windows , power mirrors , Tilt wheel, Cruise, AC, and there is not one crack in the dash like most ....I know because I purchased it new , Hate cracked up dash boards lol. Anyone purchasing this car will will definitely have his /her spirits lifted just pulling out of the driveway , let alone cruising down the highway . Any questions please message me , I have hundreds of pics but they only allow so many . Please serious questions only and thank you but I cannot trade . I'm selling the car for medical expense purposes only .I have the car listed locally so I guess I have to reserve the right to end the auction if it sells locally . Thank you !

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek

Tue, Jul 11 2017

Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone. Online Find: 1970 Pontiac Firebird Concept, cousin of the Weinermobile

Thu, Mar 26 2015

So there's this for sale over at Hemmings: the 1970 Pontiac Firebird One concept designed by Harry Bentley Bradley and built by Dave Crook. For sale at the time of writing in Bellevue, Washington for $94,950, most of the seller's description appears to be pulled from a 2001 Barrett-Jackson listing, when the car was sold at auction for $61,600. Before we get to the car, it helps to know the man behind it: Bradley was a designer at General Motors from 1962 to 1966 who, against company policy, continued to submit designs to Hot Rod magazine under an assumed name. Mattel poached him in 1966 to design its brand new toy line called Hot Wheels, and Bradley designed all of them except one. He only stayed at Mattel for a year because he didn't think Hot Wheels would be successful, then left to start his own design company. Among other works, he penned the most recent example of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Now can you see the Firebird One's design language? Since it apparently has a letter of documentation from GM design staff, we'll assume that GM asked the then-freelancing Bradley to work some magic on its muscle car, this being the totally Hot-Wheels influenced result. There are 17,456 miles on its 255-horsepower, 350 cubic-inch V8. The interior has tan leather, custom bucket seats, a wood grain dash, and one of the most awkward spare tire placements ever. The seller assures all prospective buyers that it is, like the Death Star, "fully operational."
