The car's history: The builder of the car passed on a few years back. The car sat in a barn as an old drag car until sold to a friend of that family. The car went from one barn to the next. I found the car local to me and wanted it to live again. The car before my ownership had new panels put on. This would include quarters, doors, fenders, inner front fender wells and radiator support. The car is a pro street tubbed with monster rear Mickey Thompson Sportsmans. The paint is GM white with candy green sides- looks great in the sun. Starts like easy. The motor: Date code 327, 1968 It has been bored and done with aluminum heads an Edelbrock intake Holley 600. Has billet pulleys. The rear: Ford nine inch with 10 and a half inch drums. Posi unit with gears that feel to me like 456's as my best guess. The transmission: Automatic on the floor however has 4 speed pedals. Has a stall I would guess again around 3000- 3500. What I do know is all the new I put in and it runs in the thousands. I have a stack of receipts less than 90 days old to prove this. New: Both front and rear bumpers: This includes the entire grill assembly and license plate holder and emblems. Weld rims front and rear with new front tires. Most all the front suspension and bushings. ball joints and springs. tie rods and links. Steering was tired so I replaced the steering box and rag joint. Nice tight steer no walk around issues. The brakes were tired: New master cylinder proportioning valve and rear wheel cylinders. Disc brake front, Some brake lines. Fronts are braided lines. The engine: I replaced the thermostat and installed an electric fan which works on start up. I installed a radiator catch can. The ignition is all new MSD. Coil cap rotor wires plugs. The trans: Had a leaky gasket so new pan gasket and screen. Fresh trans fluid. The interior: The interior was worse for wear and had a 8 point roll cage. I'm older so the side bars were cut out immediately. I have them if your heart desires climbing a cage to get in. The rest of the cage is in. I replaced both door panels, arm rest and both door handles and all four window cranks. Although being tubbed the rears are for show. I replaced the carpet and installed a radio delete panel to clean up the dash. New glove box and lock. All inner wind lace, side and front and rear headliner trim. This includes the headliner and visors and rear view mirror, roll bar padding. Door sills. I also went through the inner door window cranks. Doors open close like new and windows up down smooth. The car originally had tunnel ram, Since the change I bought a new firebird 400 hood and had it painted to match. The firewall was smoothed has no heater and looks really great. I planned to replace the windshield it has a stone chip not a crack. And a wiper scratch. I did not do this change but planned for it. So I will include new windshield stainless molding for the new owner and new clips. Everything I mentioned that I had changed is brand new parts no swap meet crap! Most of it from classic industries.
This car reserve is extremely fair and would not even come close to what you see right now. It is less than my investment. I am listing the car as an on going project: This was an old drag car that I have brought back to more of a pro street. If I finish the minor details the reserve next time will be much higher and realistic. What it needs: Seat belts, Seats bolted in, Wiper blades, Maybe a windshield if you're picky. If you want to do any long trips a more street friendly stall converter. The car was updated with painless wiring and everything worked. Somehow I lost the tail lights? There is power already back there as that is where the battery is located and electric fuel pump. This will be easy. Paint is older but looks nice and shines great. It does have a couple bubbles coming very low behind drivers door to be expected of a barn find but nothing crazy still a great cruise night pro street. (easily) Floors are great with no issues same as the frame. The frame is tied front to rear. I believe the trans dip stick is too long so when full to the line it leaks in reverse after a couple runs it stops? However everyone who owns a small block knows they need to be driven. I only drove the car down my street and back a couple times before all the new changes, so very little drive time since I have owned it. This is a heck of a lot of car for the money and you could not do this for my reserve. This car is so worthy of the next level. I couldn't let it lay in a barn somewhere and I hope it goes to a great home. Paper work is in my name and current. Clear transferrable registration. This is what New York uses as titles for 1970 or older cars. I sold cars all over the world with no issues. Again, car is being listed as an on going project in as is condition.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Pontiac Fiero 2M4
Sun, Oct 8 2023The mid-engined, plastic-bodied Pontiac Fiero two-seater caused great excitement when it hit the streets as a 1984 model, then became something of an embarrassment for GM when its design flaws became clear to the car-buying public. Still, when a V6 engine became available for 1985, followed by a fastback roof for 1986, the air of Pontiac Excitement around the Fiero lingered to a certain extent. We took a look at a discarded '86 Fiero GT with both the 2.8-liter V6 and the fastback body last year, and now we'll take a look at an example of the econo-commuter four-cylinder notchback version from the same year. Pontiac used the 2M4 designation (standing for two seats, mid-engine, four cylinders) on four-cylinder Fieros, while the six-cylinder cars were known as 2M6s. 2M4 decals went on four-banger Fieros for the 1984-1986 model years, while 2M6 decals seem to have been applied less consistently to the V6 cars of that period. During the early development period of the car that became the Fiero, the idea was that it would be a nimble sports car with a lightweight engine. Then the plan shifted, with the Fiero intended to be a gas-sipping commuter. When the car finally hit showrooms, it was a lot heavier than intended, it had a Chevy Citation front suspension in the back plus a Chevette front suspension, and its engine was the low-revving, weighty Iron Duke 2.5-liter straight-four. The Duke was about the least sports-car-appropriate four-cylinder engine The General could dredge up from his parts bins, but it was cheap and there was no shortage of production capacity. By the time the Fiero came out, the Iron Duke had been renamed the Tech 4. This one was rated at 92 horsepower and 132 pound-feet. The V6 Fieros get all the press today, but plenty of the Duked versions were sold (amazingly, the Chevrolet Camaro was available with Iron Duke power from 1982 through 1986). The emissions sticker tells us that this was a California-market car, rather than the "49-state" model the rest of the country got. California-specific emissions hardware added $99 to this car's price ($277 in 2023 dollars). While this car is a base model, the original buyer loaded it with options. The transmission is a three-speed automatic, priced at $465 (about $1,303 in 2023 dollars). A five-speed manual was standard equipment on the 1986 Fiero, though the old-fashioned four-speed manual was still available for a $50 credit ($140 now).
Vitruvian Energy crowdfunding to make EEB, a trashy biofuel
Sat, Nov 22 2014When sewage is treated at a wastewater treatment facility, biosolids are the byproduct. After being separated from the water, biosolids are usually sent to a landfill or incinerated. That doesn't mean that they're without value, however. Vitruvian Energy has created a process to make a usable fuel out of this human waste product, and while the source is pretty gross, it is undeniably abundant, and the results are much cleaner. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon. In a process that Vitruvian Energy claims is energy efficient, biosolids are femented and introduced to a type of bacteria to create PHA plastic. Reacting the PHA with ethanol creates the ethyl-3-ethoxybutyrate (EEB) biofuel. Vitruvian says EEB can be blended up to 20 percent with gasoline or diesel without any engine modifications. This lowers the carbon footprint of the fuel it's blended into, and serves to oxygenate diesel, leading to fewer harmful emissions. EEB can also be made using other organic waste products, such as corn stover, rice straw and distillers grains. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon and isn't subject to the maddening market fluctuations and international politics of fossil fuels. Furthermore, EEB's carbon footprint is 70 percent less than that of fossil fuels. Vitruvian also sees potential for EEB to be used on its own to power vehicles or burned to produce electricity for the grid. So far, Vitruvian Energy has used grants from the California Energy Commission and National Science Foundation to develop EEB, and has tested the fuel in a Pontiac Solstice at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Now, Vitruvian is wants to test EEB on a larger scale in the real world in order to prove EEB's viability to interested parties in the wastewater treatment industry. In an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Vitruvian Energy hopes to raise $200,000 to build a prototype EEB production line and to run a test vehicle for a year on an EEB-diesel blend on the streets of Seattle.
