I bought this car over a year ago and have had great fun with it. I don't drive it anymore because I'm 6'3", 220 and have a lower back problem. I fit just fine....its getting in and out that's tough. My son is 6'00" and he scoots the seat up when he drives it....just to give you an idea of leg room. I've gotten usually 26mpg with it unless I use the A/C. Then it drops to 21 or 22.

Since I've had it I've had only one problem with it. The control module went out. $35.00 for a new one and no problems since. When I got it, and story goes I'm 3rd owner, it ran good but was a bouncy, spongy ride. I put new shocks and idler arms on the front and new struts on the back. I had it aligned and it became a mad little go cart! It handles very well and is a blast to run through curves at speeds the law says you're not supposed to! Its a mid engine 2 seater that hugs the road without side sway and roll. Very fun and surprising. Its got 59,3xx miles on it. I have no reason to believe that's not original. I won't bore you with the history of the vehicle but it reportedly sat in the garage for 10 years after the first owner passed away.

V6 with the 4speed. Clutch is very good, shifting is a breeze. No gear noises or unusual sounds. Its not a "muscle car" by any means and was never intended to be (don't know what Pontiac was thinkin) but its low geared and very quick in the first 2. I never beat on this car but it will surprise you and others when you downshift and leap frog through traffic. Passing on the highway doesn't require downshifting unless you just want to. It IS a "sports car" according to Fiero enthusists and it rides like one too. You will notice bumps that you wouldn't in the family truckster.

Aside from whats already listed I replaced the battery earlier this year. I converted the A/C to 134a. Original refridgerant was still putting out cool air but not cold. It is cold now and I seldom use high unless in the 90s. More often than not I just open the sunroof. The tires are Goodyear Eagle GT II. They have 75% give or take tread left. I have not tuned it since I've had it but doesn't seem to need it. Exhaust sounds great and has no leaks. I have added oil only 3 times since I bought the car May 12'.

Mechanically this is a 9/10. Only thing needing attention is the right headlight motor gear is stripped. You can unplug them and they stay open, functioning like normal headlights. I have ordered the rebuild kit and will try do it before you pick it up. Takes a half hour to do and is a $20 kit. The cruise control is not working. I ordered a troubleshoot/repair manual exerpt on it but I don't understand electrical. Cosmetically it needs paint. The clear coat is peeling in many spots. There are chips in the paint. I've tried to take the best pictures of it I could. The window seals are dry rotted and cracked. They don't let any water in the car so I never replaced them.  Sunroof does not leak either.

PW, PDL which are sticky, Power mirrors. Trunk release button inside. Stock AM/FM cassette. Sounds ok but was probably top of the line in 86' lol  Goofy sounding dual tone horn which may or may not honk on first try.

I've tried to list everything I can think of but if you have questions I will answer as quickly as possible. If I think of anything I have forgotten I will add to auction. Haynes repair manual and cruise control repair included.

Thanks for looking. Reserve is lower than the buy it now so bid with confidence that you're getting a good car at a good price. Bring a trailer or bring a driver. I trust this to go anywhere without problems.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.

2.1 million vehicles recalled again over faulty airbags

Sat, Jan 31 2015

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda and Toyota will recall 2.1 million vehicles to fix faulty airbag modules "after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles." These vehicles had all previously been recalled, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the airbags could still potentially malfunction. This recall will cover Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s. NHTSA has reportedly received about 40 reports of airbag deployment in such vehicles, even though the vehicle had not been involved in a crash. Roughly one million of these same vehicles, all from Honda and Toyota, are also subject to recalls due to faulty Takata airbag modules, though this particular recall is for "an electronic component manufactured by TRW" that is separate from the actual airbags from Takata. According to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind: "This is unfortunately a complicated issue for consumers, who may have to return to their dealer more than once. But this is an urgent safety issue, and all consumers with vehicles covered by the previous recalls should have that remedy installed. Even though it's a temporary solution until the new remedy is available, they and their families will be safer if they take the time to learn if their vehicle is covered and follow their manufacturers' instructions. A hassle is much better than a family tragedy." If you're the owner of an affected car, expect to hear more from the official automaker and government channels in short order. In the meantime, we'd suggest getting your car checked and fixed at your local dealer. The official statement and recall information can be found below. Previously Recalled Vehicle Remedies Not Working as Designed; NHTSA Announces Follow up Recall of 2.12 Million Cars and SUVs Saturday, January 31, 2015 Contact: Gordon Trowbridge, 202-366-9550, Public.Affairs@dot.gov WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today the recall of more than 2.12 million Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles for a defect that may cause airbags to deploy inadvertently. The recalls will provide vehicle owners with a new remedy after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles.
