1950 Pontiac Catalina 2 door hard top coupe

First year for the Pontiac Hard Top

This car has a very strong running straight 8. It drives very well for a car of its age.

No issues of start up, overheating or stalling.

No excessive oil use or leaks

The brake petal is a little soft. The rear brake cylinders have been replaced with new ones and bled within the last 50 miles. I bought new front brake cylinders, but have not had time to install them. The two front cylinders are included with the car. I would think the brakes would work 100% after installing front cylinders and re-bleeding the system.

Car is currently running off a boat gas tank behind driver side seat. The fuel tank in the car has not been tested for rust or corrosion. When they are that old, I don't trust their condition and don't use them until they are checked out. The original tank is mounted in stock location and is disconnected from the fuel pump.

I spent a small fortune on a rebuilt carburetor and did not chance getting dirt or rust from an old tank in it.

Within the past 200 miles, parts replaced: new water pump, thermostat, carburetor, oil change, battery, front motor mount

Needs exhaust repair and minor brake work

The interior is in poor condition, but is at least there and restorable.

The body has rust out issues as seen in pictures. By the way, 24 pictures is not nearly enough to show true condition ! I have many more photo's including close ups of rotted area's.

I have six patch panels for the car which are included in the auction. (pictured)

The floors are fairly solid other than a few holes near each rocker

The trunk is solid other than at the two rear corners

Inner rockers are bad !

Lower front fenders have small holes

Patch panels included are : both outer rockers and 4 pieces of rear quarter patch

The bumpers I have pictured are included.

I do not have all the stainless trim. Also, NO hood ornament.

The car is a running , driving project or you can just drive it with few repairs. The choice is yours. At least you do not have to push it around. If the car was show and I didn't already have 14 other projects, I wouldn't even offer it. I just do not have time and money to finish all of them. Please view my other listings for other project car offers. I am going to list 26 Model T, 31 Model A slant window, 47 New Yorker and a few others

Please ask questions and make comments before bidding or making BIN offers. Call me @ 1-314-757-3489 text or email.

I will provide you with all answers for questions asked and all extra photo's asked for. I have nothing to hide and absolutely want you to be 100% happy with your purchase !

This car comes with a clear Missouri Title and as-is bill of sale. Title will be transferred to winning bidder upon cleared payment. Because it runs and drives, I must have you sign and date title. It will be up to you to fill in street address and price.

If there is a winning bidder, I ask that you make a PayPal deposit of $200.00 within 24 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid within 7 days of auction end. As long as the car is paid for, I do not mind working with you on storage .

Cost of shipping/delivery is of the winning bidder/buyer expense. I am able to offer delivery of up to 300 miles at an extra cost. Please calculate shipping expense before bidding/buying. I am located 20 miles Southwest of St. Louis Missouri. Area code 63026

I will help with the loading on you or your shippers trailer for free. Drive it on , guide you on etc.

I will revise listing as I think of important things to add.

I welcome and encourage anyone interested in this car to come and see it in person and hear it run before bidding/buying. Just let me know.

Bid with confidence. I will not list this vehicle on another site during this auction. I do reserve the right to end auction early due to BIN offer.

I generally do not mind selling parts off a car, but this is NOT one I am willing to part out. Please do not ask me to sell you just a part. In return , I will not ask you to sell parts off your car to fix this one. If I can help with locating parts to finish this one, I will gladly help !

I am also available for answers after the sale. Example : I can give you a quote on panel replacement and body work. I do not do interiors (upholstery)

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem

Thu, Feb 13 2014

General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed.
