1970 Plymouth Cuda Pro Stocker

This is a very cool piece of history! We have had this car for many years and has been a cool car for discussion and a fun car to look at and run. This is a real non restored Pro Stocker from the 70's.  Curtis Spann and this 70 Cuda were featered in Hot Rod magazine.  This car was run along side Sox and Martin, Dick Landy and other the greats of that time. This car was originally built and driven but Curtis Spann of Sesser, Illinois.  The engine is a 426 HEMI that was stroked to 472 cubic inches. The motor was put together with a Chrome crankshaft by Joe Ralph Thompson out of Arkansas. Joe Thompson's 1965 Plymouth A/FX is sitting in The Don Garlits Museum now. The HEMI has 2 1050 Dominator carbs. The notes I have say the car was worked on by a very notable Chrysler factory mechanic, John Bowman. The Trans is a 4 spd Crash Box with a Dana rear wih 5:12 ratio. A lot of parts on the car i know for a fact resemble and show signs from Sox and Martin parts. Whether these parts were purchased from Sox and Martin or copied is really unknown. The car was run at a few major tracks being East St. Louis, Bowling Green, KY, Owensburg, KY, and Indianapolis, IN. The cars best time was a 9.68 @ 144 mph.
The car has been great to us. The Car still runs great and we take it down the street from time to time. I tried to photograph everything on this car, and give as much info as possible. There is a ton of history here, which makes for a really interesting car. It will fit nicely in a collection somewhere.  Please ask any questions you may have. I will do my best to answer everything I can.

I also encourage and welcome anyone to come see the car before auction end.

Please do not bid unless you have your funds ready and you are prepared to win this auction! Thank you and Good Luck!

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
