You are looking at a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE with a 5-speed manual transmission. As some of you may know, it is not easy to find a manual tranny mated to the 3.5 engine. I chose this Altima because with this drivetrain it has similar performance to the G35 and 350Z (engine is slightly detuned but Altima makes up for it by being lighter and FWD). The metallic silver paint and sport wheels make it look a lot more upscale than regular Altimas.

I bought this car about a year ago after searching for a manual 3.5 for months. My plan was to modify it but life got in the way and my hot-rod days were put on hold., Selling because I bought another car more suitable for my job.

THE GOOD:
- Strong engine and transmission. Engines runs super smooth and tranny shifts almost perfectly.
- Clean title.
- Oil changes done frequently during the time I've owned it (and had some records from previous owner when I bought it). I use synthetics for engine and transmission lubricants.
- No check-engine, ABS, maintenance, or airbag lights on.
- Cold A/C
- New clutch slave and master cylinders.
- Brand spanking new tires, less than 800 miles on them, plus recent alignment.
- Pioneer stereo with Ipod connection
- Clean interiors with minimal wear, no rips or tears on the upholstery.
- 17" OEM sport wheels
- Power mirrors, one-touch power windows, power locks, keyless entry, power brakes & steering, cruise control, automatic headlights.
- Extremely reliable! Starts every morning, has never left me stranded.

THE BAD:
- Some dings and dents along the sides.
- Front bumper could use a respray.
- Sometimes makes some valve noise when cold. This only happens sometimes, and the noise goes away after it warms up for a few minutes. Otherwise, the engine runs very smoothly (sometimes at stoplights I don't even feel it running). I've done some searching and this is a common thing with Nissan engines and is not a major problem.
- Driver seat backrest does not move. The good news is that it's the switch and not the motor. I wired the wires directly to the seat and put the backrest where I felt comfortable and forgot all about it until now when I was writing this ad. A switch could be wired and used if desired. All other switch functions (forward/reverse, up/down, etc) work fine.
- Radio controls on steering wheels are not operational because of aftermarket radio. Factory radio can be installed back in (no factory wires were cut) or a steering wheel control adapter can be bought and easily installed.

That's it! Nothing much really. Most of these are typical issues of used cars and most seller don't even mention them but I just want to be as thoroughly as possible in my description so there are no surprises later.

Nissan battery breakthrough to double Leaf EV range within a few years

Tue, Dec 2 2014

The Tesla Model S might be the headline-grabber of the electric vehicle world, but the Nissan Leaf is the segment's secret star. With over 130,000 sold worldwide since its introduction and record US sales in 2014, the little hatchback has helped its parents at the Renault-Nissan Alliance to sell over 200,000 EVs since 2010. With that much success in the EV business, there's no reason for the automaker to stop now, and according to CEO Carlos Ghosn a huge technological breakthrough is on the way to make plug-ins an attractive choice for more drivers than ever before. In an interview on Japanese TV, Ghosn confirmed that Nissan has a new battery that could allow for over 400 kilometers (249 miles) of range. New batteries could "very soon take the issue of range off of the table." – Jeff Kuhlman Ghosn was tight-lipped on the details of the tech, but Daily Kanban dug deeper. An unnamed Nissan engineer confirmed that the roughly 250-mile range would be for a Leaf-sized vehicle – a massive leap over the hatchback's current EPA-rated max of 84 miles or 124 miles in Europe. The battery reportedly offers twice the capacity, while bringing weight and costs down compared to the present version. "Commercial applications could be no more than one model cycle away," said the anonymous worker, making the innovation sound even more tantalizing. Lending even more credence to this major battery innovation, Nissan spokesperson Jeff Kuhlman told Daily Kanban: "We continue our R&D efforts because we believe that we can do more with battery electric, and very soon take the issue of range off of the table." Renault-Nissan is betting a huge portion of its chips on the future of battery electric vehicles. The company even tried stuffing a 48-kilowatt hour pack into a Leaf for an event in Spain last year. While not its primary focus, the automaker is hedging its bets slightly by working with Daimler and Ford on fuel cell innovations, as well.

Nissan's Twizy-like New Mobility Concept EV adds modern charm to old town in Japan

Fri, Mar 13 2015

While alliance partner Renault gets to give its quirky, side-window free electric vehicle a fun name like Twizy, Nissan has opted for the much-less-interesting New Mobility Concept. To company is promoting the vehicle with a similar, let's-not-get-too-excited-here vibe, saying that it's "perfect even for mom" (not that mom's aren't exciting) and limiting it to carsharing and test program users. In the latest promotion effort, Nissan has brought the NMC to the tourist town of Shikano, in the east of Tottori Prefecture, to be used to get to hot spring excursions and other visits. Renting the vehicle costs roughly the equivalent of $10 an hour ($40 for six) as well as $12 to get a training license. You can see the little car in action in the video above, including some entirely interesting shots of the NMC painted like a cow with a pair of cows. NISMO confirms hotter GT-R, return to Le Mans and more performance models [w/videos]

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Nissan has made three announcements, all of which intend to sharpen the global significance and sales of its NISMO performance arm. Calling it "a new era for NISMO as its global performance car and motorsports brand," Carlos Ghosn cut the ribbon on the new, larger, nicer NISMO headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. For the first time since the division was founded in 1984, all of its employees are located in one place that was dubbed "a hothouse of passion and performance." Sign us up.
There, the team will start overhauling Nissan's entire range with NISMO models. The Juke NISMO is right around the corner for the US market, the second generation of the 370Z NISMO is coming for 2014, the first GT-R NISMO is being developed, and after that will come "a range of affordable performance Nissan models from small cars to flagship sports cars" - a new model every year. The expanded product line will mean that markets that haven't had access to NISMO's works will finally be able to buy them.
The last big news is that from now on NISMO will manage every one of Nissan's global motorsports programs, and its largest initiative will be prepping an entry for Le Mans in 2014. While Nissan has left the DeltaWing project, it hasn't walked away from experimental racers: the brand aims to have "a pioneering Nissan race car showcasing electric technology" ready in 15 months that shows "a new approach to innovation and excitement."
