I purchased this truck 5 or so years ago with v. low miles and some.light  frontal damage.. I am the second owner.
Have pictures documenting the condition when I got it:: e.g. bent front corner of the hood (replaced), broken (one) headlight (replaced), cracked plastic grill (replaced) and cracked part of  bumper cover. The other part and the chrome center did not need replacement. There were other cosmetic damages like dent on the gate (repaired), scratches, missing spare wheel etc. NO FRAME or any internal/electrical/mechanical component damage, no blown airbags etc.

Since than I drove it with no issues, just reg. maintenance and upgrades.

This is rare 6 passenger version where front worktable/storage bin neatly flips over and becomes 6th seat w/ own seatbelt. That's why the gear-shifter is in the steering wheel column and not in the center like most other Titans.
Seats upholstery is like new, clean, not a single stain or cut, always had seat covers, driver seat had two covers for added protection. Nobody smoked in this car. We don't have pets or small kids.

Came w/ heavy duty suspension for best handling w/load. I sell and install electric radiant  floor heating and snowmelting, typically stuff one can carry in one hand. This truck - since I got it - never carried any heavy load, other than one ladder, few toolboxes and bunch of wires and insulation to do (always locally) this kind of light duty jobs. Never towed anything. I don't own a boat, a bobcat, trailer, RV etc. .
I have added many extras like heavy duty rubber Titan floor mats, ladder carrier, bed toolbox etc and you are welcome to it. I also have second set of used  rims (identical to originals - for a nominal price of $220 if interested).

The bad:
  • Tire pressure warning light is on. This can be easily reset - I have extra TPMS sensors and reset tool, just don't know which wheel need a new TPMS sensor (best time to do it, is when tires are replaced since these sensors are inside of wheels). When I purchased this truck it did not have a spare (full size) - that is likely why the warning was on then and still is.
  • Tires are acceptable, but nothing to write home about. In a year or so need to be replaced. Occasional 'slip' warning comes on and then goes away. This is one of the ABS sensors acting up. I have one replaced, but no change, so 1 of 3 remaining ones are to be picked up. These are cheap and fairly easy to do. I purchased one already but never got around to do it.
  • Bed toolbox locks  are new w /2 keys, but does not lock properly. Needs adjustment work.

The good:
  • Two sets of keys w/2 remotes, paperwork etc.
  • Drives smooth like a car, w/ plenty of power, no mechanical issues.
  • Great stereo w 6 CD changer.
  • Plenty of storage.
  • Pretty good gas mileage, similar to most SUV's..
  • Oil and filter always changed w/ proper synthetic.
  • Brakes just done, incl.cool front drilled rotors.
  • Since the truck approaches 30k mi. diff. oil just changed w/req. synthetic gear oil. Lucas 75W-140 (Spare 2 bottles of which will be incl.)
I drive 3 other cars (we have 4), so that's why this got so few miles put on, and this is also the reason of selling: too many vehicles. .
Dealer serviced for few service recalls Nissan had on these.

Please make sure you contact me for a test drive and your own and/or service station inspection. In my opinion this truck is really good, clean, dependable and quiet, but don't take my word for it as nothing beats in-person look, test drive and independent inspection.
I live some 10 miles from Newark International Airport and have no problem picking up and dropping off anybody interested to come. From Manhattan, (other than driving) the best (cheapest and most convenient) way is a Path Train either to Harrison or Newark Penn Station.or NJ Transit bus from NY/NJ 42 st. Port Authority Bus Terminal. Just let me know a day or so ahead of time. If coming from the South, Edison, NJ train station is also close by.

Nissan wants an American driver for its Le Mans team

Sat, 20 Sep 2014

"We'll use every driver development tool we have to take them to the next level, but they will also have to step up." - Darren Cox
Nissan is aiming to put an American behind the wheel of one of its LMP1 racecars in 2016 as part of plans to grow its motorsports program in the United States.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder: March 2013

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Over the past few months, we've talked a lot about how our long-term 2013 Nissan Pathfinder functions as a daily-driver, long-hauler and all-weather warrior. And so far, it's earning high praise from most of us for being a well-rounded, pleasant vehicle in these regards. But the vast majority of people who actually go out and buy a Pathfinder will do so because of its people-and-stuff-carrying abilities. Nissan specifically engineered the new Pathfinder to be a softer, more widely appealing crossover than the sort of rugged SUV that it was before, and in doing so, the company is hoping its new CUV will find homes in the garages of many American families.
We needed to get some family impressions of the new Pathfinder, and fast.
Thing is, many of us Autobloggers live the kid-free life - at least that's true of most of us in the Detroit area where the Pathfinder currently resides. We have no doubts that the Pathfinder will get a proper family road trip workout from west coast editor Michael Harley after it shuffles over to the left side of the country, and it might also do a jaunt to North Carolina this summer with executive editor Chris Paukert and his family before it leaves the area, but in the meantime, we needed to get some family impressions of the new Pathfinder, and fast.
