2003 Nissan Sentra Limited Edition Sedan 4-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
East Meadow, New York, United States
2003 Nissan Sentra Limited Edition - 159,260 Miles NY State residents please understand your restrictions when bidding on this vehicle. Strong motor and tranny - no leaks, noises, smoking or misfire. But that's about it. Needs brake pads all around. Has good tires. Very slight power steering leak at the hose. The leak is VERY slight! Left rear axle bearing is very worn and makes a little noise when driving. I would not drive it very far until you replace the driver side rear axle bearing. I drove the car about 15 miles and at highway speeds. My mechanic said I was lucky the wheel did not come off. This car obviously does not pass a NY State safety inspection. Unbelievably though, the computer monitors are all set and has no codes and no check engine light on. All the monitors are set. My scanner says "no codes" and no "incomplete monitors". Body is OK - has a little damage on the passenger front fender. The paint is slightly faded on the left front fender. Interior is straight, but a little dirty. This car goes to the highest bidder in "As Is" condition. No Reserve! No Buy It Now! Shipping is recommended! Car is very fixable and usable. I did not choose to do the work on it due to the age and mileage. However, if you are handy, you will find it to be a nice car. Because it will not pass NY State inspection ... New York
residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a
registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are
using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY
State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe
off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My
cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this
strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected.
There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3
are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further
clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t
pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy. Sorry, I
don’t make the rules but as a used car dealer I must abide by them. Any questions call 516-228-1016 and leave a message if I’m not in.
Please don’t wait until the last day or last few hours to contact me. Please
speak clearly. I will pick you up at the airport, train or bus station.
Winning bidder please
leave a $300.00 non-refundable deposit in PayPal within 48 hours of the auction
close. If I don't receive the deposit within the 48 hours I will re-list the
car.
Please plan on picking this vehicle up within 15 days of the auction
close unless you have made prior arrangements with me before bidding.
All vehicles that run and drive are driven at least 10 to 20 miles
and usually 30 to 40 miles. I try to describe these vehicles to the best of my
35 years of experience. Our familiarity with these autos is limited to the miles
we drive them. Please be aware of this when bidding.
As always, if the winning bidder is not happy after road test and examination, I will cancel the sale and
refund $250.00 of your deposit.
Attention “Phantom/No-Show” bidders – I do not entertain any second
place bids and always re-list the vehicle. If your feedback is 1 or lower you must contact me prior to bidding.
If you don’t contact me your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from
further bidding.
Final sale price is what you pay! (New York residents must pay sales
tax and inspection fee when applicable.) There are no extra hidden fees!!!
We will accept any and all trade-ins or will visit you to purchase
any vehicle outright within a 50 mile radius of zip code 11554.
Good luck and thanks for looking! On Mar-30-14 at 17:07:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I moved the car the other day and noticed a slight pause before engaging into drive. Tranny was perfect for the rest of the day. I called the previous owner back and he said it's better in the warm weather. If you want to drive off right away on a cold day, shift it to low gear, then back to drive and it's good for the day by just putting in in drive. Reverse is no problem. |

NHTSA opens investigation into Nissan's handling of airbag recall
Mon, Mar 23 2015In March of 2014, Nissan recalled eight models among its Nissan and Infiniti brands, totaling more than one million vehicles, over faulty occupant classification system software controlling the passenger airbag. The company discovered a variety of factors that would interfere with the system's ability to detect an adult passenger in the shotgun seat, resulting in an illuminated warning on on the dashboard and the passenger airbag not deploying in an accident. Yet 124 complaints submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since the recall allege that the dealer-installed fix hasn't actually fixed the problem; some consumers say the problem persists after multiple trips to the dealer. The Detroit News reports that NHTSA is opening an investigation into the matter to determine whether a new recall is needed. The occupant sensor has been a bugbear for Nissan over the past couple of years; a much smaller recall for the issue in 2013 covered five of the eight vehicles that were recalled in 2014, and that earlier recall also continued to generate complaints after the issue had supposedly been fixed. At the same time, the company learned that in two instances there was another twist, where the dashboard warning wasn't illuminated but the passenger airbag still didn't go off in an accident. Nissan isn't alone, though, with airbag recalls on a steep upswing across the industry even before the Takata debacle.
2013 Nissan Pathfinder: Wrap-Up [w/video]
Tue, 13 May 2014Despite our tendency as enthusiasts to clamor for things like wagons and hot hatchbacks, it's hard to argue with the buying public's increasing demand for functional crossovers. In fact, the great SUV craze of the late-1990s has all but faded in favor of the easier-driving, better-packaged, more-efficient crossover. That's even true at the larger end of the market - just look at what happened when Ford redesigned its body-on-frame Explorer into a stylish and well-equipped CUV. And now look at the similar success Nissan has had in repurposing its rugged Pathfinder sport-ute as an appealing crossover.
But happily, we report the following line: out of every long-term vehicle Autoblog has ever tested, not a single one has been as in-demand as the 2013 Pathfinder Platinum you see here. After 13 months of solid use, we added 24,372 miles to the Pfinder's odometer - and that's without the vehicle ever leaving the hands of our Detroit-based team (sorry, West Coasters).
There's good reason for that high-demand usage, too. After spending a little over a year with our Mocha Stone tester (a color that earned this Nissan the nickname "Sweet Brown") we came to appreciate its vast versatility, comfort, all-weather prowess, and the way it absolutely ate up the miles on long trips. We drove it all over the United States, in all four seasons, filling it with our families, friends, and occasionally using its capacious cabin for sleeping on the road. Through good and bad, the Pathfinder was a trusty friend. But like any good friendship, that wasn't without a couple of fights.
Nissan recalling GT-R, Infiniti crossovers over steering column issue
Wed, Feb 11 2015Nissan has discovered a problem with the steering column on some of its higher-end all-wheel-drive vehicles from a few years back, and has issued a recall in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to address the issue. The issue revolves around the outer tube on the steering column, which may not be perfectly round. That would put extra stress on the upper steering bearing, which could cause it to fracture, disabling the car's steering ability and potentially leading to a crash. The problem affects Nissan's flagship GT-R supercar – specifically 2009 models manufactured between March 14, 2007, and April 25, 2008) as well as an array of Infiniti crossovers: namely the 2008 EX35 and the 2008-09 FX35 and FX45. In the case of the luxury crossovers, Infiniti dealers are being instructed to replace just the steering shaft, but Nissan dealers will have to replace the entire steering column assembly on the GT-R. All told, the recall is estimated to encompass 16,973 vehicles across the United States. RECALL Subject : Steering Column Tube may be Out of Round Report Receipt Date: FEB 02, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V054000 Component(s): STEERING Potential Number of Units Affected: 16,973 Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc. SUMMARY: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2008 Infiniti EX35 vehicles manufactured June 29, 2007, to April 25, 2008, 2009 Infiniti FX35 and FX45 vehicles manufactured October 31, 2007, to April 16, 2008, and 2009 Nissan GT-R vehicles manufactured March 14, 2007, to April 25, 2008. The steering column outer tube may not be round, resulting in extra stress being applied to the upper steering bearing. This stress may cause the bearing retainer to fracture, creating extra play in the steering wheel or a possible loss of steering. CONSEQUENCE: Extra play in the steering wheel or a loss of steering may increase the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering shaft on the Infiniti EX35, FX35, and FX45 vehicles, and will replace the steering column assembly on the Nissan GT-R vehicles, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Infiniti owners may contact customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan owners may contact the GT-R hotline at 1-866-668-1487.
