Petrolicious finds a '72 240Z that is one fair lady

Petrolicious has a real knack for finding ridiculously cool cars to film, and they almost always seem to have interesting owners. Glenn Chiou and his 1972 Nissan Fairlady 240Z-L are no exception. While it's engrossing to hear Chiou's passion for his Z during the interview, the biggest highlight in this clip is the wonderfully coarse mechanical sound and burbling exhaust. Chiou first got into cars during the modified import boom of the early 2000s, but his tastes slowly started to skew towards vintage Japanese vehicles. He eventually found this coupe in 2010 in somewhat ratty condition and set to work brining it to its current state. With binders full of vintage brochures and a heap of original parts, Chiou puts his zeal for the Nissan to excellent use. The result is a Fairlady sporting an array of period-correct mods from the Japanese competition catalog, and a six-cylinder engine that makes an unforgettable sound.

Nissan starts building e-NV200 in Spain [w/video]

It doesn't look all that much like a Nissan Leaf, but the new e-NV200 that started production in Barcelona, Spain today shares its powertrain and lithium-ion battery with the world's most popular electric vehicle. The production version of the electric cargo van was unveiled late last year and today's manufacturing start is right on time with the company's previously announced timeline. The first exports will take place in June. The e-NV200 is Nissan's second all-electric vehicle, and the company says that powertrain line-up is "expanding." The vehicle itself will be available in a number of configurations in Europe: a light commercial van, a passenger vehicle and and electric taxi. Nissan has said in the past it is working on installing a fast-charging network of CHAdeMO stations in Barcelona, where the e-NV200 will be used as a cab. The e-NV200 will also be used as an electric taxi in Amsterdam. The zero-tailpipe-emission van is also being tested in Washington, DC with FedEx, but there is no confirmation that it will ever be commercially available in the US. Mercedes considering Mexico for CLA production

Would you buy a Mercedes-Benz if it were made in Mexico? That's what the German outfit is wondering, as it considers localizing production of the its new budget model at a factory operated by Nissan, of which the automaker is a joint-venture partner.
According to a report from Automotive News, moving production of American-spec CLAs from Hungary to Mexico would protect Mercedes from currency fluctuations. "Mexico is the best location for the United States," Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche told AN. The CLA is also expected to become the brand's volume model in the US market, which makes North American production a logical move.
In the event that Mercedes approves the plan, Nissan would expand the capabilities at its Aguascalientes, Mexico plant, allowing production to begin in 2018.
