Up for auction is my 300zx Twin Turbo. Car is in great condition mechanically, needs a little bit of cosmetic work.

Car has had the following work done (fully documented with receipts):

2014:
- Brake fluid flush
- AC system repair (had custom compressor fan installed at AAA mechanic Aguirre Auto as no one manufactures the OEM units)

2013:
- Replaced Battery (car had been sitting)
- Performed throttle body coolant bypass (Intake manifold cleaned, new intake manifold gasket)
- Replaced passenger side valve cover gasket
- Fuel filter replaced
- Fuel system cleaned
- Diagnosed check engine light to be due to rich condition (likely due to either bad o2 sensors, fuel delivery or aftermarket exhaust)

2012 (previous owner):
- Replaced Battery
Work done at Jack Key Nissan (Las Cruces, NM):
- Replaced Alternator
- Replaced all six injectors with new gaskets
- Replaced EGR gaskets
- Misc. Vacuum tubes replaced
- Knock sensor replaced
- EGR sensor replaced
- Timing Belt replaced
- Tension belt replaced
- Water pump replaced
- Thermostat replaced
- Misc. Coolant hoses replaced

2008 (previous owner):
Replaced block with JDM import, swap done by AAA mechanic (Aguirre Auto Las Cruces NM) with following items replaced on JDM block:
- Timing Belt
- Rear Main Seal
- Front Crank Seal
- Injector Seals
- Water Pump
- Spark Plugs
- Exhaust Manifold Gasket Set
- Valve Cover Gasket Set
- Thermostat
- Exhaust Gasket
- Oil Pan Gasket
- Oil Pump
- Injector (1)
- Injector Seal Kit (1)
- New Battery

2007 (previous owner):
- New radiator

2006 (previous owner):
- Replaced head light switch & fixed fuse block

For the bad:
- Car has been sitting for several months. Starts up right away, but idles a bit rough until warm. Driven the car on 100+ mile daily commutes to work here and there, but the car REALLY needs to be driven consistently to get her back on her feet.
- Car has a HICAS leak (not surprising if you've owned one before)
- Check Engine Light is on (read description).
- Needs some minor bodywork (see pics).
- Could use shocks/springs.
- Could use tires.

Car has been kept as close to OEM as possible. The only exceptions are the aftermarket stereo (nothing fancy; in fact the OEM radio is probably better at this point) and the intake system (previous owner installed an intake kit).

Price reflects the need for some tune-up work, and potential body work. KBB rough private party is ~$5,900.  Priced $5,500 as I need her gone.

Any questions, drop me a line.

Datsun's lackluster initial sales fall below Tata Nano

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

When Tata introduced the Nano back in 2008, everyone was amazed at how cheap it was. They called it a game changer, but no game was changed. In fact, it took Tata five years to sell the 250,000 units it had the capacity to build in a single year. As it turns out, even buyers in what economists call "developing markets" like India aren't necessarily interested in buying an ultra-cheap automobile. And now it appears that Nissan may be falling into the same trap.
A little over a year ago, Nissan revived its old moniker Datsun to serve as a budget brand - similar to what ally Renault did with Dacia. Its lineup (consisting of models like the Go hatchback, Go+ minivan, On-Do sedan and Mi-Do hatch) is largely based on old architecture, packaged with little more than basic equipment and sold at rock-bottom prices. But Bloomberg reports that, even in the brand's core markets like India and Indonesia, the new Datsuns haven't been selling.
According to local industry figures, Datsun has sold fewer than 10,000 units of its $5,100 Go hatchbacks in India since its introduction back in March. Maruti Suzuki, by comparison, sells twice that many of its similarly priced Alto hatchbacks every month. In fact, after peaking in April, Datsun only sold 607 units in India this past July, dipping 77 percent to drop below even the number of Nanos which Tata sold that month.

Infiniti ESQ is a Chinese Nissan Juke Nismo

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Take a Nissan Juke Nismo, replace all of its suede and Alcantara interior with leather and cross-stitching, replace all of its badging with the words "Infiniti ESQ," and boom! You've got a made-for-China crossover aimed at "the new millennials." Infiniti teased the coming of the ESQ last month, and today, we're treated to pictures taking it in from various toothsome angles.
Whippersnappers with anywhere from 200,000 yuan ($33,507 USD) to 300,000 yuan to spend will get the same 197 horsepower, 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, sport-tuned CVT and all-wheel drive that we know in the Juke Nismo. We haven't tracked down any other official information about it yet, but potential buyers will get their first look at it during the Chengdu Motor Show that opens later this month, where it will share market-specific notes with Infiniti Q50 L.

EZ-Charge program will get rolled out for all vehicles [UPDATE]

Wed, May 21 2014

UPDATE: It appears that Chargepoint has pulled out of the program. It looks like a myriad of vehicles will be eligible for the single-card recharging program under NRG Energy's NRG eVgo division. The EZ-Charge platform that Nissan said last month would allow Leaf owners to use multiple vehicle recharging networks with a single card will soon be offered to other plug-in vehicles. eVgo will start sending out EZ-Charge cards this summer to various markets in Northern and Southern California and Texas as well as the Pacific Northwest, Phoenix, Nashville and Washington, DC. EZ-Charge uses a single card that is good for eVgo stations as well as stations within the ChargePoint, Blink and AeroVironment networks. It will debut in 10 EZ-Charge markets on July 1. By mid-2015, 15 more markets will be added. Nissan announced the 'No Charge to Charge' program last month at the New York Auto Show. Nissan said at the time that Leaf buyers would get two years of free charging, but individual charging sessions were limited to 30 minutes at CHAdeMO stations and an hour at the more-common Level 2 stations. The automaker also estimated that the 25 markets included by next year account for more than 80 percent of US Leaf sales. Take a look at NRG's press release below. NRG eVgo Introduces New Convenience to Electric Vehicle Charging First-of-Its-Kind EZ-Charge All-Access Card gives EV drivers convenience to use chargers from multiple charging providers PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This summer, NRG eVgo, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG), will roll out the EZ-Charge (SM) platform, a first-of-its-kind initiative that will offer electric vehicle (EV) drivers the ability to access multiple EV charging networks with a single all-access card. "For too long, EV drivers have been limited to only the chargers that were in their network meaning they might drive past a number of charging stations in other company's networks before they could get to one they could use with their current provider" The EZ-Charge platform will enable drivers of any electric car make or model to carry a single access card for charging on multiple networks, much like consumers today carry a single credit card to access multiple retailers.
