Vehicle up for bid is a 1987 300zx Turbo. This Z is in excellent condition and is nearly rust-free, almost impossible to find at this age. This car has been in my possession for over a year and I am the third owner AFAIK. Car drivers down the road straight and is tight and responsive. The interior is mint with no rips or wear on the seats, carpet is clean and free from stains, dash is perfect without warping or damage, doorpanels are the nicest I've seen ... also appears to have been a smoke-free car. Paints shines nicely and body is very straight, trim is all present. There are a few minor dings and scratches consistent with its age but overall the car presents itself very well. I have personally done all maintenance and repairs on this car and have tried my best to ensure it remains reliable and fun to drive for years to come. Here is a list of repair/replaced/refurbished items:
1) Timing belt/tensioner/Cylinder Head Temp Sensor (CHTS) & subharness 2) water pump/hoses/coolant/thermostat 3) alt/ps/AC belts 4) Clutch master & slave cylinders & DOT4 fluid 5) pads/rotors front & rear, entire brake system bled with fresh DOT4 fluid 6) differential and transmission fluid changed (Synchromesh in tranny, Mobil1 75-90 in diff) 7) plugs/cap/rotor/wires/ 8) oil changed 9) polyurethane sway bar bushings front & rear 10) 3" turbo back exhaust terminating to a 2.5" Magnaflow muffler, throaty & mellow with no drone or raspiness 11) shocks/struts replace with KYB's by previous owner cosmetic/electrical: 1) aftermarket steering wheel 2) aftermarket shift knob 3) faux suede headliner 4) ADR M-Sport wheels with new 235/45/17 tires 5) decent pioneer CD headunit with aftermarket speakers 6) new headlight switch 7) boost gauge installed in place of center pod, works well (set at 7/8 psi for safe yet effective performance gain) Needs: 1) AC/blower doesn't work (didn't fix because...... T-tops) 2) haven't figured how to hook up horn with new steering wheel. Will come with old wheel if you prefer... 3) driver fog light bulb 4) headlight motors tempermental, did headlight-down mod to alleviate problem 5) burns a little oil, could use new valve seals. Motor runs perfectly otherwise. This car has very few needs and could easily be a great daily driver with a bit of work. It is extremely difficult to find a Z31 with no rust and this car is as close as you can get. The only rust present is a tiny spot just below the pass taillights (will update ad with pic). The quarters and undercarriage are all totally rust free. Fenders and rocker panels are totally rust free. Crossmember mounting points and unibody frame rails are totally rust free. There is a bit of surface rust under the tool kit, it is not structural and has not perforated the metal. Car is located in lower Westchester County in Yonkers, NY and can either be picked up in person or I can assist in loading onto the carrier of your choice. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction's end and the remainder to be paid within 10 days via paypal or certified bank check. Cash upon pickup in person is welcome, of course. Any questions please feel free to ask, I will answer as best and as promptly as I can. Car may be viewed locally with appointment. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early. Good luck and thanks for looking! ***I will be away on a family vacation from 15th to the 18th which may cause a slight delay in communications*** |

Ghosn flight prompts renewed focus on Japan's strict justice system
Thu, Jan 2 2020TOKYO — Carlos Ghosn's daring flight from Japan, where he was awaiting trial on charges of financial wrongdoing, has revived global criticism of the nation's "hostage justice," but in Japan is prompting talk of reversing more lenient curbs on defendants. The ousted boss of Japan's Nissan and France's Renault fled to Lebanon, saying on Tuesday that he had "escaped injustice" and would "no longer be held hostage by a rigged Japanese justice system." Ghosn was first arrested in November 2018 when his private jet landed in Tokyo and kept in jail for more than 100 days as prosecutors added more charges, all of which he has denied. He was released on $9 million bail in March — only to be arrested and bailed again the following month. He was facing four charges, including underreporting his Nissan salary and transferring personal financial losses to his employer's books while he ran Japan's No. 2 automaker. His apparent escape from Japan's legal system — Tokyo and Lebanon don't have an extradition treaty — will likely halt or even reverse a trend of recent years toward granting bail in more cases, said Colin Jones, a law professor at Doshisha Law School in Kyoto. “I would expect it to be more difficult for foreign defendants to get bail,” Jones said. In Japan, suspects who deny the charges against them are often detained for long periods and subject to intense questioning without a lawyer present, a system critics call "hostage justice." Japanese civil rights groups and the main bar lawyers association have long criticized a system that convicts 99.9% of criminal defendants. They say it gives too much power to prosecutors, who can detain suspects for long periods before indictment, and relies too much on confessions, some later found to have been forced and false. Ghosn's escape is clearly a shock to Japan's legal establishment. "This case raises the extremely serious issue of whether it's all right to continue the trend toward bail leniency," said former prosecutor Yasuyuki Takai. "The legal profession and lawmakers need to quickly consider new legal measures or a system to prevent such escapes," Takai, who was formerly with the special investigation unit of the prosecutor's office, told public broadcaster NHK.
Nissan helping Mexican dealers crack US market
Thu, Feb 12 2015Nissan may not be the top seller or even the top import brand in the United States... but it is in Mexico. South of the border, Nissan accounted for over 26 percent of new cars sold last year, and it's not only applying some of the same lessons it learned on its way to the top of Mexican market to the US – it's bringing in some of the same dealers. In an effort to increase its market share particularly in southern states with large Hispanic communities like California and Texas, Nissan is helping some of its largest dealer groups in Mexico buy up American dealerships, according to a report from Automotive News. Among those Nissan dealers in Mexico expanding into the US market are Grupo Autofin Mexico (which owns 60 locations, including three Nissan dealers in Orange Country), Grupo Autocom (which controls 17 Nissan, Infiniti and Renault locations in Mexico and now owns one Infiniti and four Nissan dealers in the San Francisco bay area) and Automotores Soni SA de CV (one of Mexico's largest dealer groups which recently took over two locations in Houston). Aside from encouraging these and other Mexican dealer groups – many of which have longstanding ties to the Renault-Nissan Alliance and its brands – to break into the US market, Nissan has been using its right of first refusal to offer dealerships going up for sale in the US to its Mexican dealers before American ones. There has yet to be any outcry from Nissan dealers in the US, though. The effort, lead by Nissan's North American chief Jose Munoz (who used to run the Mexican division), is part of the company's drive to increase its market share in the US from 7.7 percent currently to 10 percent by 2017. And the know-how of these Mexican dealership groups forms part of that strategy. But Nissan hopes to tap more than just their experience to drive an increase in sales. The Japanese automaker is also targeting the Hispanic market within the United States, offering Spanish-speaking Americans service in their own language with the benefit of a common cultural background. According to AN, Nissan has already surpassed Honda to become the No. 2 import brand among Hispanic customers in America, accounting for some 32 percent of the company's growth last year. 2014 Nissan GT-R [w/video]
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Chasing The Legend
There are only a handful of vehicles in existence that can change you permanently - ones that have the power to rewire your concept of speed to fit their definition. Some five years after the Nissan GT-R legally touched down here in the US for the first time, the coupe is still bending perceptions of what it means to be a supercar in the modern age. For 2014, engineers reworked the GT-R's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine for more power, tweaked the transmission and massaged the suspension for ever more speed. Yes, that's right, I said more speed.
The changes have sharpened one of the best performance buys on the market into a weapons-grade track assault vehicle that just so happens to be street legal. More than ever, this is a car that rankles established supercar players with names like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche, and does so with a Nissan badge on the hood.
