Up for auction is a 1993 Nissan 240 SX SE 2 Door Hatchback. This car has 211,300 miles. This car has numerous issues however it does have several redeeming features that will make this a popular "project" or fix-up car. It comes with a clear, clean title. The car was driven by a single owner and was well maintained as far as changing of belts, hoses, radiator, timing belt, and regular oil changes. The factory radio was replaced in 2004 with a Kenwood single disc stereo with remote control and all 4 speakers work (one is newly replaced) . In addition it has a working Kenwood 5 disc CD changer in the trunk with remote. The engine runs good (quiet and smooth) no knocks or pings. It does not "burn oil" visibly but does go through about 2-3 quarts per 5000 miles. With its regular oil changes present this presented no issues. The injectors were replaced about 4 years ago and serpemtine belts and a new clutch with flywheel were installed 11/2011 at 204,000 miles. Struts were replaced in late 2008 and 2009 at 188,000 miles. The interior seats are gray cloth and have no tears just normal "stretching" of the cloth. The dashboard is cracked and driver's door has a small crack. The air conditioning works well and it is smoke free. This car drove well and still was getting about 25-30 mpg on the highway.
Now for the downside and where the "work" comes in. This car was rearended in an accident and needs rear bumper work. The spoiler is attached but leaks. The trunk has leaked to some degree over the past couple years. It has slight front end damage however the hood still opens and closes fine. It has multiple dinks and small dents under the drivers door and front left fender. The paint is the classic burgundy red, has normal fade, and there is some window trim peeling occuring. So overall there is some bodywork necessary to get it back in shape. The main drawback with this car was the damage it recently sustained as it was inadvertently driven straight over a median curb. All 4 tires are now flat so it will need to be towed on a flat back wrecker. It appears the front right steering tie rod broke leaving the front right wheel with no way of turning. The rear axle appears to be shifted back on its axis a little as well. No mechanic looked at the damage so no assesment has been made as to the severity of the damage. Three of the alloy rims did not sustain damage but show normal wear . The front right rim will more than likely need to be replaced. I had a great run with this car and it served me well. I know these are popular fixer-uppers these days and despite the bodywork and driveability issues, it does have a lot of salvageable parts and a good engine. This is being sold as-is whereis with no guarantees or warranties. Shipping is to be paid by driver unless you are local and can pick it up. Payment is due within 3 days of the close of auction. A Paypal deposit of $200 will be due at the close of the auction as a deposit until transaction closes. Thank you for looking and I welcome your bid if you can make this car or it's parts work for you.

Mercedes to build CLA at Nissan plant in Mexico [w/poll]
Wed, 25 Jun 2014Volkswagen may have paved the way for American customers to get used to the idea of German cars produced in Mexico, but it won't be the only one for long. BMW is said to be considering production of the 1 Series, 3 Series and Mini south of the border, Audi is working on its own factory in San Jose Chiapa, and now Mercedes-Benz is reported to be following suit as well. Only instead of building its own plant, Daimler is tipped to use a Nissan factory in Aguascalientes.
According to a report in Manager Magazin recently cited by Automotive News Europe, that's where Mercedes is considering building the GLA, CLA and another A-Class sedan. Just what the point would be of another sedan based on the A-Class in addition to the CLA, we're not sure, but if Benz can produce the larger CLS in addition to the E-Class and S-Class sedans, we suppose there'd be room for an A-Class sedan alongside the CLA as well.
We're still waiting on confirmation and comment from Mercedes on the prospect, but one way or another, the increase in Mexican production of German automobiles seems to be a foregone conclusion.
Ten of the greatest Super Bowl car commercials of all time
Thu, Jan 28 2016With an average of over 100 million viewers each year, the Super Bowl always has advertisers bringing out the big guns. And for those among us who don't know the difference between a safety and a touchback, those commercials can be one of the most compelling aspects of the annual ritual. Car companies, in particular, have a long history of making the most of the huge Super Bowl audience by debuting some of the most memorable advertisements that have ever aired on television. So, in preparation for the new batch we'll be seeing this coming Sunday, here's a collection of our favorites from the past. 10. Audi – The Godfather When Audi created this homage to the quintessential gangster movie to promote its newest sports car, the company managed to make a commercial that was simultaneously funny, a little bit disturbing, and most importantly memorable. 9. Maserati – Strike This one might start out slow, but it delivers not only with the wicked sound of the third-generation Ghibli's engine, but with an interesting message about hubris in the auto industry as well. 8. Nissan 300ZX Twin-Turbo – Dream Directed by none other than Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien), this dystopian spot has centers around a narrator who explains that in his dream the bad guys are unable to catch him despite their best efforts by way of street bikes, race cars, and supersonic jets. While the twin-turbocharged 300ZX car was certainly a performance powerhouse to be reckoned with in its day, the concept and execution of this one does come off a little bit campy now – but in a good way. Then again, it is a dream, after all. 7. General Motors – Robot This one is unique in that it's genuinely depressing on a profound level. Who would've thought that the simulated suicide of a lovable, anthropomorphic car-building robot who has fallen on hard times could be such a downer? 6. Nissan – With Dad Although the debut season of its new LMP1 racer didn't exactly turn out how the team hoped it would, there's no denying that Nissan's depiction of a strained father-and-son relationship that eventually leads to redemption (and the introduction of the 2016 Maxima) tugs at the heartstrings. 5. Volkswagen – Big Day A surprisingly poignant advert, this one might be low on dialogue but it certainly gets its message across. And just as the dramatic soundtrack begins to lull the viewer into a sense of security, our expectations are upended. 4.
Nissan Sport Sedan Concept foretells a future Maxima
Mon, 13 Jan 2014Nissan is in the midst of overhauling its design language. We got our first glimpse at the direction its style was going a year ago with the Resonance crossover concept, which was followed in Shanghai by the connected-car Friend-Me hatchback concept. And now, after dropping a few hints, Nissan has revealed the third in this developing series.
Unveiled at today's Detroit Auto Show, the new Sport Sedan Concept applies many of the same design elements we've seen on Nissan's previous show cars to a more conventional four-door shape. But far from a design exercise, the decidedly uncreatively named Sport Sedan Concept previews "a future production sports sedan," which has every indication of being the next Maxima.
Its dimensions reveal the concept to be bigger than the current Maxima in every direction but height, with that visual impression further entrenched by a floating roof design that combines with a high waistline to give a coupe-like profile. There are also sharp creases in the bodywork that visually break up the space between the rear set of 21-inch alloys and the tapered greenhouse. The shape is further punctuated by the V-shaped grille and distinctly Nissan boomerang-shaped lights that lend a face to this distinctly Japanese design that was penned in California and honed back in Japan. The sharp and simple cabin is characterized by a high-contrast palette with quilted leather and metallic trim.
