I am the second owner of this eclipse and have had plenty of fun with it.  It is currently sitting around because I am not around to drive it.  When I bought it in 2007, it had a dent in the passenger side fender, door, and hood.  There was a massive amount of rust under the rear deck lid.  Once I had time, I tore the thing apart, and replaced the hood, fender, and hatch.  I took the third brake light out of a gs wing and fabbed it into the gst wing.  Then I gave it a new paint job with white and orange pearl mixed over a bright white base coat.  Once I decided on colors, I had pin stripes painted on as well as the cars name, "evil" painted on the bumper.  At that time, I also replaced the rear hub assemblies and all the brakes.  Now both of the fenders are a bit dinged up, after a few years dealing with city parking, and the windshield has a nice crack.  There is also a bit of rust under the hood and a small spot by the gas refill.  The tranny needs some work, but I have been driving it for almost 4 years with no 4th gear.  It has worked for me and if I were to keep it, it would be my next project.

I have recently replaced the headlights with aftermarket halo lights.  The turbo was rebuilt in Summer of 2011.  The water pump and timing belt were replaced this past November.  This car also comes with 18" Antera 3 piece rims with summer tires.  2 tires probably only have 1 summer left on them, but the other 2 have some good life left.  The stock rims are currently mounted with winter tires on them.  When I got the car there was already a GReddy blow off valve, Apexi turbo timer, cold air intake, nology plug wires, and a 3" magnaflow exhaust.  The 3 aftermarket guages down the A pilar are the boost guage, air/fuel ratio, and oil pres. guage.  Wires from subs I used to have are still ran to the trunk, they just need to be reconnected.  The head unit installed is Alpine.

With the new water pump, timing belt, and rebuilt turbo, this car is ready to keep going.  Like any 15 year old car, it takes some attention and fixes every once in a while.  Anyone who has owned one understands.  It's a fun and quick car and it is definitely hard for me to let it go.

Winning bidder is responsible for pickup or lining up shipping.  Full payment is required at the time of pickup in cash is preferred.  I obtain the right to end this sale at any time I see fit.  Thanks for looking.

I wanted to to post an update with a couple things I have thought of concerning the condition of the car.  The driver side door has some damage(body work) that's not very noticeable and still opens fine.  A clip on the passenger side door handle has broken off, so the handle is loose, but stays on the car and still works.  The hatch "shocks" probably need replaced soon as they don't always hold up the hatch.  The sunroof rattles when it is open and you go over bumps.  All it needs is tightening, but I forgot to do so before I left.  The upholstry for the inside cover for the sunroof is starting to come off.  There are "racing" seatbelts installed, but still have stock belts.  The passenger side racing belts' clip is broken.  The driverside seat has a tear in it.  I'm not sure you can see it in the pics.  A couple of the summer wheels that come with the car have a few spots where they hit a curb, but the chrome rim can be replaced since they are a 3 piece rim.  That is all I can think of.  I want to be as honest as possible, so please, if you have any questions, let me know.  Thanks

Limited-edition Mitsubishi 311RS Evo X coming to Minneapolis Auto Show [w/video]

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

It's not terribly often that we have news to report coming out ahead of the Minneapolis Auto Show. We say that not to disparage the Twin Cities, which are lovely, but new product reveals are few and far between for the show. This year, however, it seems that event will play host to the debut of a rather special limited edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Though not coming directly from the Mitsu factory, we think the 311RS shows loads of potential for Evo fanatics.
The 311RS is the brainchild of circuit racer Ryan Gates, who has apparently spent the last three years developing what he believes is an Evo perfect for both racing and road driving. Starting life as a bog-standard Evo X, the Gates team has swapped out the factory intake, intercooler and exhaust system for more potent AMS pieces; resulting in output figures of 353 horsepower and nearly 359 pound-feet of torque. A new suspension from JRZ, brakes from Girodisc and 18-inch custom Rays wheels shod with high-performance Nitto tires represent significant updates to the underpinnings, as well.
Of course, the 311RS is also rocking a full body kit, too, with a more aggressive front air dam and a subtle lip added on to the stock rear wing. The blue and white racing livery, with matching blue wheels, looks racy without being too childish, we think.

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport | Affordable outlier

Wed, Jul 19 2017

The $10,000 new car, truck or SUV is long dead, and the $15,000 price point is nearly so. To purchase a new vehicle and enjoy everything buying "new" implies (warranty, reasonably new tech, a long life and affordable financing), you have to spend $20,000, probably more like $25,000. We'll take a look at spending that $20K at a Mitsubishi store. If you've forgotten Mitsubishi, don't blame yourself. A generation ago, Mitsubishi's American arm had a financial meltdown, precipitated by a consumer financing plan offering zero interest and zero payments for way-too-many-months. When it was time to make payments customers simply returned the cars, leaving Mitsubishi holding a very expensive inventory worth substantially less than what was owed. Later, of course, the economy had its own meltdown, from which most of America's automotive industry rebounded. But Mitsubishi, with a sparse lineup and little marketing, is still working on that. A recent infusion of Nissan capital will help, as should Nissan's managerial oversight. Despite Mitsubishi's aging lineup, the Outlander Sport stands out - Mitsubishi continued to build it while other manufacturers were belatedly awakening to the subcompact crossover segment. And while its platform is old and its menu of standard and optional equipment dated, if you're on a tight budget you might find it attractive. Dimensionally, the Outlander Sport is a plus-size relative to Mazda's CX-3 and Honda's HR-V. For a detailed comparison of all three entries, visit Autoblog's comparison tool here. The CX-3 boasts the shortest wheelbase (101.2 inches), while the Honda sits at 102.8 inches and the compact Outlander Sport stretches to 105.1. In overall length the Mitsu is close to both the CX-3 (168 inches for the Mazda, 171.5 for the Outlander Sport and 169.1 inches for the HR-V). Finally, the Outlander Sport's 3,000-pound weight is within a belt notch of the Mazda's 2,900 and the Honda's 2,900 (front-wheel drive/manual). The Mitsubishi sheetmetal and stance is reminiscent of Audi's Q5, and while the similarity is coincidental, it's fun to have an upmarket look in a $20,000 car. Of course, once the Outlander Sport is turned on, that upmarket vibe is gone. For your $20K you'll get a 2.0-liter engine offering 148 horsepower, just north of Mazda's 146 and Honda' s 141.

2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to get a much bigger battery

Thu, Oct 28 2021

So it turns out we still don't have full details on the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Information will continue to trickle out instead. But at least we have information on one of the SUV's most critical parts: the battery pack. It has more capacity, and should have more range. The outgoing Outlander PHEV had a 13.8-kWh battery pack good for 22 to 24 miles of all-electric range. The new model's battery expands to 20 kWh. On the WLTP cycle, it's good for 54 miles, but the U.S. EPA numbers will probably be lower. The capacity increase is about 45%, so applying that to the miles, we're expecting somewhere around 32 to 35 miles of electric range. That would put it close to the Ford Escape PHEV's 37 miles of range and the Kia Sorento PHEV's 32 miles. It would still trail the RAV4 Prime's 42 miles of range. Mitsubishi also noted that the gas tank has expanded, too, so the Outlander PHEV's overall range should increase. Despite all this, the plug-in hybrid also retains a third row of seats, something its predecessor lost. This is due to a revised rear motor that includes the motor controller as part of the unit. The previous model had the controller located in the passenger compartment. Mitsubishi says this freed up interior room for the rear-most seats and also reduced the amount of high-frequency noise in the cabin. As for the powertrain itself, Mitsubishi isn't sharing output details. All it has said is that the Outlander PHEV still has dual electric motors, plus a gas engine. That engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder similar to the current model. The press release Mitsubishi provided suggests the electric motors are more potent, so we may see more than the 221 combined horsepower of the outgoing model. The Outlander PHEV will go on sale in the United State in the second half of next year. We should have many more details on it as we approach the on-sale date.
