I purchased this car with intentions to make it a 10 second street car that appeared stock, it took months to locate a rust free low mileage GSX.  The details below tell the story of the car and should provide interested parties with sound information when bidding on this vehicle. I'm not some kid who was broke trying to do things cheap, this project was undertaken with the attitude that things would be done correctly, safely, and with sound engineering required for NHRA or club racing rules. Due to a demanding career I simply do not have any spare time and the car is taking up space in my garage. The car runs and drives great, it is on the factory clutch so it is getting time to change it as it will slip under high boost.

This car has a May 1994 build date and if you follow DSM's you know this would be considered an Early 95' car. This is a selling point because it has numerous features that were removed in later years due to cost cutting. It has the larger vented rear brakes, tuned engine mounts, and a LIMITED SLIP rear from the factory. Also the 95's were ODBII but were exempt from ODBII emissions in all states. I have changed it from a 2GA to a 2GB which means I swapped out the front and rear fascia and side skirts to the more aggressive 98' versions. I HAVE all the OEM parts and they go with the sale.

Chassis -
  • Chromoly NHRA 8.50 Roll Cage
  • Fabricated by JWRACING-FAB.COM
  • Tightest fitting 8.50 cage you are going to find all custom for this car.
Interior -
  • Swapped from gray to black and tan.
  • No rips or tears
  • Great pains spent getting everything to fit around the roll cage.
Suspension -
  • Eibach springs
  • Koni Yellow shocks on all four corners.
  • Energy Suspension bushings.
  • New knuckles, lateral arms, long arms, bearings (all OEM factory mitsu parts).
Drive-train -
  • COMPLETELY rebuilt drive shaft including all universal joints and carrier bearings using FACTORY parts.
  • Torque solutions carrier bushings
  • Torque solution shifter bushings
  • New front drive shafts (even have an extra brand new in box that goes with car ).

Engine -
  • ARP Head bolts
  • Ferrea valves
  • Stock bottom end no issues, good compression on all 4, no crank walk.
  • T28 Turbo
  • Greddy BOV
Exhaust -
  • Apexi N1 Exhaust with full 3" down pipe.
Fuel System -
  • Walbro 255
  • Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Engine Controls -
  • ECM Link full version
  • Electronic boost control solenoid
  • Innovate Wideband O2
  • Boost Gage
I have removed a couple factory items such as the air conditioning and cruise control. I have all the systems in totes, they are fully functioning and you can re-install them in so desired. In addition I have many spares that go with the car; as previously mentioned all the OEM 2GA bodywork, extra doors, hood, high-wing hatch, and a complete additional interior including the power seats but in Gray. Also an additional set of factory spiral wheels that are 16" go with the deal.

Several other totes of additional spares go with the car; I'm not going to list everything but they include such items as spare moldings, trim, clips, eprom ecu's, tubing, oil coolers, and all kinds of odds and ends that are very expensive to buy which I have collected over the years.

I think that is it, basically the extra's on the car are worth more than the asking price but that is always the case with modified vehicles. I hope someone from the DSM community purchases this car and has lots of fun for years to come.

Mitsubishi Evolution Final Edition goes out with a bang

Mon, Oct 5 2015

The end of a long era - one we got to experience too little of - is just about at an end, and this car is its gravestone. The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition is the last breath of ten generations of Lancer Evos, three of which came to the US. Mitsubishi launched a Final Edition Evo X in Japan earlier this year, after teasing a 473-horsepower concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon, now it's our turn. Built on the lower GSR trim, our model gets 303 hp, a bump of 12 hp, and torque goes up by five pound-feet to 305 lb-ft. The bigger modification is arguably the fitment of Bilstein shocks wrapped in Eibach springs all around, plus two-piece Brembo calipers on the front axle, all of which come standard on the upper-level MR trim. Dark chrome Enkei wheels match the dark chrome front grille surround. Like the grille, other changes for the Final Edition appear to be ornamental: black aluminum roof, black interior with red accent stitching, and special badging. Mitsubishi is putting 1,600 on sale here, each one with a numbered plaque just ahead of the shifter for the five-speed manual transmission. A second badge makes an appearance on the decklid. Final Edition Evos come in one of four colors, new Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray and Octane Blue, and cost $37,995. That price puts it $700 above the GSR Premium trim, and $1,000 below the entry MR trim. There are two press releases below with more information. This content is hosted by a third party. Oct. 5, 2015 – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today announced the details of the limited-production 2015 Lancer Evolution Final Edition. Arguably the originator of the four-door sports car genre, the Lancer Evolution has seen ten generations – three of which were sold in the U.S. over 12 years. To send it off in style, Mitsubishi Motors will offer 1,600 numbered Final Edition models to the U.S. market with a MSRP of $37,995. The Lancer Evolution Final Edition is based off the current GSR model, with exterior and interior enhancements not previously offered on the GSR.

2016 Mitsubishi Outlander First Drive

Fri, Jun 5 2015

"There is a golden hour between life and death. If you are critically injured you have less than 60 minutes to survive. You might not die right then; it may be three days or two weeks later – but something has happened in your body that is irreparable." That quote is from Dr. R. Adams Cowley, widely viewed as the father of modern-day trauma medicine. It's an apt description of the straits Mitsubishi finds itself in here in the United States. The company's golden hour has been a long time coming, but with the death of the Lancer Evolution, and a stable that consists of the ancient Lancer, the lamentable Outlander Sport and the abhorrent Mirage, the 2016 Outlander marks the start of this vital 60 minutes. It was with this in mind that we shipped out to San Francisco to test the company's latest compact CUV. Technically a facelifted version of the crossover that debuted at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mitsubishi made over 100 changes as part of this refresh. The exterior changes strip away some of the Outlander's boring, conservative elements in favor of a new design language called "Dynamic Shield." Most of the work is from the A-pillars forward, where an assertive chrome-lined grille, restyled headlights, and a new hood are found. Larger LED taillights sit in back, along with chrome elements. As is the fashion nowadays, LED running lights have been added as standard, while the GT gets LED low beams and halogen high beams, as well. The cabin receives similarly small upgrades, updated materials, and a new navigation system. Plastic is the dominant surface, although it's no better or worse than the stuff usually encountered in this segment. Mitsubishi added piano-black accents on the bottom half of the leather-wrapped steering wheel and around the touchscreen navigation system, to class up the cabin. The cloth seats on the entry level models have also been updated, although the leather on the mid-range SEL and top-of-the-line GT we drove is unimpressive. The same can be said of the seats themselves, which are wide and unsupportive, particularly if you suffer from lower back issues, as your author does. You'll get eight-way powered adjustments on the SEL and GT, although lesser trims get by with manually-operated, six-way adjustability. Neither of those setups include lumbar adjustments. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes, at least, regardless of trim level. A standard third-row of seats has long been one of the Outlander's strongest points.

Only 3 new cars cost under $20,000. Here’s what you should buy used instead

Tue, May 2 2023

Looks like some more people have realized something we pointed out late last year. There are only three new cars under the magic $20,000 price limit currently for sale in the United States. Those three vehicles are the Nissan Versa with a starting price of $16,925 (all prices here include destination fee), the Kia Rio at $17,390 and the Mitsubishi Mirage at $17,650. Should push come to shove, so to speak, we'd probably pick the Nissan as our top choice among those three due to its practicality, comfort and overall polish when compared to its similarly priced peers. But really, as we've suggested before, there are better options. Our top pick for a used vehicle under $20,000 remains the Chevy Volt. It's stylish, comfortable, practical and, above all else, efficient, assuming you can plug it in at home. If you don't have access to a plug at home, you'll likely be able to find a very gently used car for the same price as one of the budget options above. We'd check out the Honda Fit, Kia Soul, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla hatchback and Volkswagen Jetta from the  model years and aim for something with under 20,000 miles and with a year or two left of its factory warranty. A quick inventory search shows that some of those cars, notably the Impreza and Jetta, can even be found Certified Pre Owned in most parts of the country. For a more thorough breakdown of some of the available used-car options we'd recommend, check out our guide to the Best Cars Under $20,000. For what it's worth, with the average new car transaction price hovering alarmingly close to $50,000, we wouldn't expect to see any more options coming any time soon for well under half that sum.
