88 Mitsubishi Starion 2.6l Turbo on 2040-cars
Sierra Vista, Arizona, United States
The word RARE is way overused in the automobile re-sale
market. To the point, it's almost rare not to see the word. This car was
imported by Mitsubishi from 83-89. Only 10,655 produced in 1988. (all markets, all
models) In 1987-89 they came to the US with the wide body (AKA fatty / flared
fenders) and inter-cooled turbo. The 2.6L IC turbo engine produced 197 HP. with 220 lb ft of torque in a 2,700
lb car. An automatic transmission was not common in this car either. This is a true survivor. I bought this from a friend of mine 4
years ago. It was sitting in her garage. (51 year old woman) in S. Arizona. She bought it new
in Florida and moved it out here many years ago. It has the
original Leather interior still in great shape. Everything is stock!!!! Radio
and all. No cuts or holes or cracks in the dash or anywhere. The exterior is
all original including the wheels and paint. The front spoiler has a break in
it,(see pic) from a parking curb.
The only other visual issue is a few drops of battery fluid dropped on
the left hid-a-way head light, otherwise in good shape. No dents no scratches.
Now we might be approaching rare. If you don’t think so, try to find one on
ebay or autotrader for sale!! Anywhere, Any year, any transmission, any condition. The Transmission was rebuilt a few years
ago, but has very few miles since. shifts very positive. The tires look new but are
5 or 6 years old. I've been driving it back and forth to work (9 miles one way)
and makes a great commuter and decent mileage. No suspension parts have ever
been changed but it still drives tight. Could probably use some shocks/struts
and new tires for a better ride and fun factor. (rides like it has 25 year old shocks and bushings and 10 your old tires) is a little harsh right now) Engine starts
easy, runs great and when the boost kicks in, it pulls great. Mitsubishi
Starion has a race car pedigree. (SEE Wikipedia for more info) This car has independent rear suspension with rear wheel drive and 4 wheel disc brakes. Came factory with
205/55 - 16 tires on the front and 225/50 - 16 on the rear. This would make a
great auto cross car and were popular as a tuners. The heater works good but the indication
lights in the dash are intermittent. If you have any questions please ask
before bidding. On Jan-30-14 at 14:51:56 PST, seller added the following information: The car is equipped with Air Conditioning. All the parts are in tact but clutch doesn't engage when turned on. Will require some work. |

2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross scores an IIHS Top Safety Pick
Wed, Jul 17 2019The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a funky little crossover with a name that has angered more than a few Eclipse fans out there. Today it gets honors from the IIHS, though, in the form of a Top Safety Pick award. It’s great to see the totally new Mitsubishi get safety honors for what is probably the best car the company sells in the U.S. now. You will have to get an upmarket version of the vehicle for it to be one that qualifies for the award, though. That nets you the LED headlights rated as Acceptable and the front crash prevention technology. It avoided collisions when traveling at 12 mph and 25 mph in IIHS testing. On top of that, it needed to score Good in all the major crashworthiness tests, which it did. The full breakout of scores showed it scored an Acceptable rating for some of the specifics the IIHS was looking into, but the car appears plenty safe from a crash perspective. Child safety seat testing found that the carÂ’s LATCH system was extremely easy to use, netting it a Good rating in that category, too. The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross starts at $24,690 for a completely base car, and stretches to around the $30,000 mark in its most expensive form.
Mitsubishi celebrates 40 years in UK with Evo festooned with aftermarket bits
Thu, 27 Mar 2014Mitsubishi has an anniversary to celebrate. It has been selling cars in the UK for the last 40 years, and in recognition it is launching the Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR special edition with some real performance upgrades from top aftermarket companies. The models will be limited to 40 units in Frost White and priced at £50,000 each.
The special Evo uses a tweaked ECU to boost power to 440 horsepower and 412 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed, twin-clutch Sports Shift Transmission, and the engine receives a long list of augmentations with an intake, intercooler piping and tubular manifold from Janspeed, plus motorsport-specification, high-flow fuel injectors. To keep up with the acceleration, it gets six-piston front brake calipers and upgraded rear brakes behind 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels. The suspension is lowered by 35 millimeters (1.378 inches) in the front and 30mm (1.181 inches) in the rear with Eibach coil springs.
The interior gets improvements to fit the performance upgrades. Leather-covered Recaro seats are found up front, along with an eight-speaker, Rockford Fosgate audio setup complete with a subwoofer. Navigation is standard with a seven-inch LCD touchscreen. The special edition definitely won't be making it to the US, but it's nice to see Mitsubishi commemorating itself with a performance model. Scroll down to get the full specs in the press release.
