Up for sale I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR with 7,555 original miles!  That is NOT a typo!  Seven thousand five hundred and fifty five miles!  This is definitely the lowest mile EVO IX you will find for sale today or in the future.  There might be a few other unicorns out there in the wild but if it has lower mileage than this one, the owner probably won't be selling it anytime soon!  This is your chance to basically rewind the clock to 2006 and almost buy this car brand new!  Look at the pictures, your eyes are not deceived!

This car has sat in a garage in Texas since 2007 which is why it is so well preserved!  I'd like to think I'm a pretty honest guy so because of that I try to disclose everything I know about a vehicle that I'm selling.  I bought this car as an investment back in July of last year.  There is a reason why this car has sat since 2007, the engine chipped piston #1.  I don't know the full story but I can only assume that the original owner turned the boost up with a manual boost controller and the car wasn't properly tuned which lead to higher EGTs and piston #1 failing.  It could also be a fluke but since I've worked on these vehicles professionally since 2006, I'm more inclined to believe the former rather than the latter.  So I guess it's time for me to tell you a little bit about myself so you know who restored this beauty back to it's former glory.  My name is Greg and I own UCS Performance located in Beltsville, MD.  I've been working on EVOs professionally since 2006 and under my own company's banner since 2010.  EVOs that I have built or have had a hand in building have won numerous events in road racing including the 2007 NASA TTR class National Championship beating Buschur Racing and Robi Spec, multiple Redline Time Attack victories on the east coast in 2006-2008, two SCCA T2 class National Championships and multiple year division champion for car #34 owned and driven by Marty Grand just to name a few!

Now that I've established some of my pedigree, let's get back to this beautiful wicked white EVO IX GSR.  This is a one owner car that like previously stated had an engine issue that caused this car to sit in a garage in Lubbock, Texas until last year when I bought it.  The owner was a non smoker and thanks to the favorable weather conditions in Texas this car was well preserved with no rust taking hold of her.  I paid a premium for this car because of the ridiculously low mileage.  Finding a car with this low of mileage, especially for the much desired EVO IX is extremely difficult.  On top of that, it's wicked white!  There were about 3500 EVO IX GSR's imported into the country and wicked white is the second rarest to electric blue.  The vehicle came to me with the cylinder head removed and in a box.  The damage to piston #1 was quite evident.  Not horrible but the piston definitely lost a bit of it's crown.  There was no bore damage and a simple quick hone was able to restore the bore to its OEM state.  I purchased a new piston and ring set and installed the new piston with the ring set gapped to the proper specs.  The cylinder head went to one of my local machine shops to be refreshed and resurfaced since it had been sitting for several years.  Once I received it back I reinstalled it with a new OEM headgasket and new OEM head bolts.  The turbo was inspected and there was no damage to the turbine wheel from piston #1 losing a bit of it's mass.  The vehicle also came to me without any seats as I guess the previous owner sold it for whatever reason.  I installed black leather seats from a IX GSR that had the SSL option package.  I think the black leather compliments the white color perfectly, much better looking than the stock blue and black Recaro's that came in the vehicle originally.  The seats are in great condition and came out of an EVO IX that had about 35k miles on it before it was converted to a race car.

While I had the car on the lift I went through her with a fine toothed comb.  All fluids were replaced due to her sitting for almost 7 years.  Engine oil and coolant are obvious because of the repair to the engine.  I also flushed the brake fluid and replaced all drivetrain fluids with OEM fluids direct from Mitsubishi.  This includes the transmission (MT 75W-85), transfercase (Diaqueen LSD gear oil), ACD system (SP III) and the rear differential (Diaqueen LSD gear oil).  The brakes and CV joints were checked, wheel bearings were checked, all bushings and boots were checked and nary a problem was found.  This car is in FANTASTIC shape!  The OEM clear coat on the Brembos is in great shape with just a hint of fading starting to appear around the brake bleeders.  A compression test has been performed after the repair to the engine and the compression numbers are right at OEM specs.  OEM specs for the MIVEC version of the 4G63 found in the EVO IX is 140 PSI.  The results varied from 138 PSI to 145 PSI.  Damn near perfect! There is video below of the compression test!

The vehicle is totally stock except for three things.  First the windows are tinted.  Second it is on lowering springs.  I'm not exactly sure which ones, but it's lowered.  I do have stock springs in case someone really wanted that but I think it looks great just the way it is.  Lastly it's on aftermarket wheels and tires.  The wheels are HD Tuning Clutch wheels in black.  They are 18x9 and wrapped in Nitto INVO's with a 245/40/R18 tire.  Both the wheels and tires are BRAND NEW.  The pictures below do not reflect the fact that the OEM undertray IS installed on the vehicle.  It was removed to service the vehicle and has been reinstalled after I took pictures of the squeaky clean underside!

The vehicle has a clean title with no liens.  There is a lien on the title but it HAS been released!  When you do a search on this vehicle you will see multiple titles reissued to the same owner.  Once at its original purchase, again in 2009 which must have been due to a lost title and then again in 2013 when the original owner screwed up filling out the title and had to have a copy reissued.

Finally, on to the important part, the pictures!

Obviously this is a large purchase, you may call me at my shop at 301.595.1795 to discuss the vehicle if you so choose.

nuTonomy beats Uber to launch first self-driving taxi

Thu, Aug 25 2016

In the cutthroat world of technology, if you're not first, you're last. With this in mind, it shouldn't come as a surprise to see tech companies and automakers clawing to be first in line to release self-driving cars. Uber recently partnered with Volvo in a $300-million project that should result in a self-driving fleet as early as next month. But amazingly, a 3-year-old company called nuTonomy has beat Uber to the punch by launching the world's first self-driving taxi in Singapore. Cambridge, MA,-based nuTonomy has been privately testing self-driving vehicles in Singapore since April and is now allowing select residents in the city's one-north business district to be driven around in its self-driving taxis for free. Customers will be able to summon one of nuTonomy's self-driving taxis through the company's app and will be picked up in a Renault Zoe or Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car modified for autonomous driving. While the taxi will drive itself, an engineer from nuTonomy will ride in the vehicle to ensure that the car is operating properly and will take over if needed. There's no word on how many self-driving taxis nuTonomy put on the road, but the trials take the company one step closer to launching its fully autonomous fleet by 2018. The Wall Street Journal's Jake Watts managed to get a ride in one of nuTonomy's self-driving taxis and, while it went well, he claims human cabdrivers may not go extinct any time soon. According to Watts, the self-driving Mitsubishi lacked Tesla's polish and was overly cautious. The car did a fine job of avoiding jaywalkers, parked cars, and pedestrians on the short drive, but hesitated often, which could gives riders motion sickness, Watts said. nuTonomy CEO Karl Iagnemma will be speaking at Autoblog's UPSHIFT 2016 conference on transportation technology on October 6 in Detroit. Limited-edition Mitsubishi 311RS Evo X coming to Minneapolis Auto Show [w/video]

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

It's not terribly often that we have news to report coming out ahead of the Minneapolis Auto Show. We say that not to disparage the Twin Cities, which are lovely, but new product reveals are few and far between for the show. This year, however, it seems that event will play host to the debut of a rather special limited edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Though not coming directly from the Mitsu factory, we think the 311RS shows loads of potential for Evo fanatics.
The 311RS is the brainchild of circuit racer Ryan Gates, who has apparently spent the last three years developing what he believes is an Evo perfect for both racing and road driving. Starting life as a bog-standard Evo X, the Gates team has swapped out the factory intake, intercooler and exhaust system for more potent AMS pieces; resulting in output figures of 353 horsepower and nearly 359 pound-feet of torque. A new suspension from JRZ, brakes from Girodisc and 18-inch custom Rays wheels shod with high-performance Nitto tires represent significant updates to the underpinnings, as well.
Of course, the 311RS is also rocking a full body kit, too, with a more aggressive front air dam and a subtle lip added on to the stock rear wing. The blue and white racing livery, with matching blue wheels, looks racy without being too childish, we think.

Mitsubishi reveals mid-term plans including redesigned pickup, SUV and new PHEVs

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Struggling automaker Mitsubishi seems adamant that it will soldier on across the globe. Just last week, we told you how the brand would begin selling a pair of rebadged, Korean-built, Renault-Samsung sedans in the US market, and now comes an official statement from Mitsubishi about a mid-term business plan called "New Stage 2016."
As part of the plan, a number of products not sold in the US, like the Triton pickup, Pajero Sport SUV and Delica D:5 will be new or significantly updated, while we'll be seeing a second-generation Outlander Sport within the next few years. Some of these new or updated models may be previewed at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. There will also be an increased focus on the brand's plug-in hybrid technology.
In fact, that technology will play a big role in Mitsubishi's revitalization, as it rolls out its own competitor to Honda's Earth Dreams and Mazda's Skyactiv technology, called @earth Technology (yes, seriously). It's unclear if @earth Technology will develop into an overarching philosophy like Mazda has done with Skyactiv, but with Mitsubishi pushing so hard with hybrids and EVs - part of its deal for those Renault-Samsung sedans was that it would develop EV tech with Nissan-Renault - if we did see an @earth Technology badge on a car, we'd wager that it'd be powered, to some degree, by electricity.
