I am selling a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST Spyder. I am going to try to summarize the car as best as possible. Let me start by saying that I am the third owner and that my friend bought it from the original owner last year and barely drove it. Him and I have put a lot of work into the car as far as small details to get the car back to where it needed to be. This car is very rare. It was well taken care of and was never modified or abused. The stock intake, intercooler, blowoff valve, etc. are still there. This car will make a perfect project or just a daily driver without needing a thing. The car has received fresh plugs, valve cover gasket and grommets, new accessory belts, new front rotors, calipers and pads, fresh pads in the rear. The previous owner had changed the top with new seals throughout and has never leaked that I know of. The car drives on four matching and almost new Continental DWS tires which are great in the snow. The clutch grabs perfectly and was changed at around 120k. The only things wrong with the car that I can think of that need to be done if you are a perfectionist is to respray the body cladding on the driver side. The car has perfect shock towers as I know that this is a problem with these vehicles. The car does have some surface rust creeping up on the lower door jams on both sides underneath the side skirts as well. The original radio was pulled and replaced with a pioneer head unit with an aux jack. I cannot think of anything else to say about this car other than that it has plenty of life left in it. I am selling the car "As Is." The car will last you a long time and can be driven with full confidence.

Mitsubishi CEO vows to stay in US on heels of Suzuki's departure

By now, you're surely aware that Suzuki is pulling out of the US market. It was a bit of a foregone conclusion to most who've been paying attention to the automotive realm, but it still sent a small shockwave through the industry. And one of the most oft-heard retorts goes something like this: "Next up: Mitsubishi."
It's easy to understand why many question Mitsubishi's existence in the States. After all, now that Suzuki is gone, Mitsubishi is the Japanese automaker with the fewest sales in America. Furthermore, the automaker's market share has dropped from .7 percent to just .4 percent after seeing sales fall 29 percent to 50,103 units through October.
In any case, Mitsubishi fans needn't worry. Speaking to Automotive News, Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko said, "We have no intention whatsoever of withdrawing from the US market." That's about as clear as clear can get. It's also worth mentioning that Gayu Uesugi was just named chairman of Mitsubishi Motors North America, and his main responsibility will be to revitalize the brand in the US.

Forgive us for being wistful, but there was a time when Mitsubishi coupes and sports cars were the downright awesome. The 1990s brought us the all-wheel drive, turbocharged Eclipse GSX and the twin-turbocharged 3000GT VR-4 (seen here). The times, they were good.
Fast-forward to today, and the Lancer Evolution exists as Mitsubishi's sole, true performance offering. Mitsubishi killed off the Eclipse last year, by which time it had lost much the luster of its predecessors. With an affordable Japanese sports car fomenting underway thanks to Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, one may think that it's an ideal time for a brand like Mitsubishi to jump back into the performance coupe game. A rear-drive Mitsubishi sports car to take on the Toyobaru twins could be just what the brand needs to gain some mindshare among consumers.
Not so, says Osamu Masuko. The president and executive director of Mitsubishi told reporters at the Sydney Motor Show, "Our engineers are very prominent to investigate new technologies, but to use that technology they are not that good to bring the revenue to make that money." Read: the engineers want to do it, but the company does not find it to be financially responsible.

Mitsubishi is bringing the Mirage hatchback to the US this fall, carrying a price tag of $12,995, not including the $725 destination charge. Mitsunori Kitao, COO of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Co., says that the Japanese automaker might consider releasing the sedan version of the Thailand-built compact - called the Attrage in Thailand and the Mirage G4 in the Phillipines - if the little hatchback takes off in the US market, Automotive News reports.
Weight is a key concern with importing the sedan. The non-US Mirage hatchback weighs just 1,900 pounds, but its naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine makes just 79 horsepower and 78 pound-feet of torque, which can only manage a 0-62 miles-per-hour time of 11.2 seconds. The heavier sedan would take even longer.
