1993 Mitsubishi 3000gt Vr-4 Coupe Awd Twin Turbo 3.1l New Pampena Motor on 2040-cars
Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States
| For sale is my 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 w/ Twin Turbo AWD.
Roughly 95,000 miles on the car with only a few hundred miles on a brand new
Pampena motor! Also, recently repainted so it looks amazing. The leather seats
are in great shape and don't have the typical wear that you find on the side of
the drivers seat. Previous owner bought it from Previous owner did a lot of work on this car and spent thousands on new parts that now only have a few hundred miles on them. List includes: 3.1L forged Pampena motor (over $3100) Refreshed heads Poly Motor Mounts New OEM: water pump, oil pump, timing belt, timing tensioner New 18x9 Aftermarket aluminum radiator Brand new stereo head unit and Boston Acoustics speakers Aftermarket gauges in dash (above climate controls) ECU capacitors replaced 3" 3SX downpipe and test pipe ($330) ABS, ECS Delete All wheel steering delete kit from Pampena Motorsports ($130) Rear subframe bushings replaced with poly New clutch master cylinder Stage 4 racing clutch from 3SX and light weight flywheel ($629) Braced transmission housing 3SX bracket ($125) New output shaft and transfer case spool - stronger than stock ($419) 3SX Pre-turbo intake piping (red) ($99) 3SX Spark plug wires ($69) HKS Blow-off valve Brand new 99' lifters Brand new power steering pump Drilled and slotted rotors New window tint As you can see, a lot of time and money invested in this car. It runs great, sounds excellent running. I'm sure I am forgetting to mention some of the little improvements and upgrades like the Pampena plate that covers the spark plug wires on the valve cover or the 3SX oil cap. Oh, the pop-up headlights work perfectly too which is very cool. Now for the things that still need some work. The speedometer doesn't work. Local shop said $30 to diagnose this but I haven't had the time to drop it off there yet. It's probably the speed sensor either disconnected or needing to be replaced but I'm not sure. The e-brake handle welds that hold it in have broken off from the previous owner. Sounds weird but it apparently is a common problem from what I read on the forums. The e-brake handle is included with the car and just needs to be welded in or re-bolted into the car. The stereo surround plate that goes around the radio is missing. $25 on 3SX website. The rear windshield wiper has been removed and the radio antenna was removed. Both were replaced with black rubber plugs. Overall, an awesome car that has had a lot of time and attention given to it. Ready to drive around today or a project you can continue. With some fuel system upgrades and bigger turbos you could have a real beast of a car. Leaving it as-is and you have a great ride that will turn heads everywhere you go. If you are looking for a VR4, look no further as you won't find one with a new Pampena motor and all of these other maintenance items done to it. You could spend less and have faded paint, worn out seats, and wonder when your ECU's capacitors will start to leak. OR you can spend more and buy one with huge turbos and NOS and wonder when your transfer case and axles will go. This car is the perfect balance between stock and performance. This one is well cared for. Happy bidding. Any questions, I will do my best to answer. Email me at dnolan16@att.net $500 deposit required within 48 Hours of auction end. Balance due within 7 days. Do not bid unless you intend to buy. Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping. I can have someone available anytime to assist with the pick up process if giving proper notice and details. Car is sold as-is, no warranty. VIN JA3BN74K6PY037563 |

Carlos Ghosn launches initiative to help his native Lebanon
Wed, Sep 30 2020BEIRUT — Former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn made a new public appearance in Lebanon Tuesday during which he launched an initiative with a local university to help the country that is undergoing a severe economic and financial crisis. It is GhosnÂ’s second appearance in public since he was smuggled from Japan in late December to his ancestral Lebanon. In early January, Ghosn gave a news conference in Beirut saying he fled because he could not expect a fair trial, was subjected to unfair conditions in detention and was barred from meeting his wife under his bail conditions. Ghosn declined to elaborate about the details of his arrival in Lebanon, saying it happened in “dramatic circumstances” and also refused to answer questions regarding two Americans who allegedly helped him flee Japan to Lebanon through Turkey. He also refused to talk about former Nissan executive Greg Kelly, who is standing trial in Japan. Ghosn said that the initiative with the Maronite Christian Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, USEK, titled "Moving Forward," aims to launch a top executive management program, a training center on new technologies and to support startups. “The objective is obviously serving this institution ... but also serving the country and the society,” Ghosn said in an opening speech. “If there is one specific thing that Lebanon needs it is create jobs.” “When we are developing top management, we are developing people strong enough to carry companies through this difficult time, to grow a company and to create jobs,” Ghosn said. Lebanon is mired in the countryÂ’s worst economic and financial crisis in its modern history. It defaulted on paying back its debt for the first time ever in March, and the local currency has collapsed, leading to hyperinflation and soaring poverty and unemployment. Talks with the International Monetary Fund on a bailout package have stalled. The economic and political crisis deepened after an Aug. 4, blast in Beirut that killed and wounded many and caused damage worth billions of dollars. Many Lebanese consider Ghosn as one of the countryÂ’s heroes in the diaspora who succeeded in turning troubled car companies in France and Japan into profit making ventures. Some have suggested that Ghosn should be given a governmental post in Lebanon to get the country that is notorious for corruption and mismanagement out of its troubles.
Carlos Ghosn: What misconduct is he accused of?
Tue, Nov 20 2018TOKYO — Japan was shocked by news that Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn, who was widely respected for rescuing the carmaker from near bankruptcy, was arrested on Monday for alleged financial misconduct. Nissan said that Ghosn, who is also chairman and CEO of Renault and chairman of Mitsubishi Motors, would be fired from his post as Nissan chairman on Thursday. What is Carlos Ghosn accused of? Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa told a packed press conference on Monday night that the company had found that Ghosn had been using corporate money for personal purposes and under-reporting his income for years in official company filings to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Another board member, Greg Kelly, was also deeply involved in the misconduct, Nissan said. Saikawa said he couldn't elaborate as the cases are being investigated by prosecutors, who have declined to comment. Prosecutors said that Ghosn and Kelly conspired to understate Ghosn's compensation over five years starting in fiscal 2010 as being about half of the actual 9.998 billion yen ($88.9 million). Public broadcaster NHK said Nissan paid billions of yen to buy and renovate homes for Ghosn in Rio, Beirut, Paris and Amsterdam, citing unnamed sources. The properties had no business purpose and were not listed as benefits in TSE filings, NHK said. Ghosn, 64, has not been formally charged. The Asahi newspaper reported that he and Kelly had submitted to prosecutors' questions after getting off a plane on Monday afternoon at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. Saikawa confirmed they had been arrested. Ghosn and Kelly have not been seen since, and their exact whereabouts are not known. Suspects are typically taken to the Tokyo Detention Center, which is linked to the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office. How did this come to light? Nissan's Saikawa said Ghosn's alleged improprieties came to light through a whistleblower, after which the company began an internal investigation and informed prosecutors. Japanese media reports say the informant is a member of Nissan's legal department. The Asahi reported, without citing sources, that the informant gave the prosecutors information in a plea bargain, implying the person may have provided evidence in exchange for a lighter sentence. How much control did Carlos Ghosn have? After becoming CEO of struggling Nissan in 2001, Ghosn was hailed as the automaker's savior by implementing an aggressive cost-cutting plan.
Question of the Day: Most heinous act of badge engineering?
Wed, Dec 30 2015Badge engineering, in which one company slaps its emblems on another company's product and sells it, has a long history in the automotive industry. When Sears wanted to sell cars, a deal was made with Kaiser-Frazer and the Sears Allstate was born. Iranians wanted new cars in the 1960s, and the Rootes Group was happy to offer Hillman Hunters for sale as Iran Khodro Paykans. Sometimes, though, certain badge-engineered vehicles made sense only in the 26th hour of negotiations between companies. The Suzuki Equator, say, which was a puzzling rebadge job of the Nissan Frontier. How did that happen? My personal favorite what-the-heck-were-they-thinking example of badge engineering is the 1971-1973 Plymouth Cricket. Chrysler Europe, through its ownership of the Rootes Group, was able to ship over Hillman Avanger subcompacts for sale in the US market. This would have made sense... if Chrysler hadn't already been selling rebadged Mitsubishi Colt Galants (as Dodge Colts) and Simca 1100s as (Simca 1204s) in its American showrooms. Few bought the Cricket, despite its cheery ad campaign. So, what's the badge-engineered car you find most confounding?
