This is a classic 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 is in excellent condition, with 42,125 miles and essentially in show car condition.  It has a twin turbo, twin intercooled 3.0 liter V6 that develops more than 320 hp.  The 3000GT was made from 1991-1999.  In 1993, this car cost nearly $47,500 and was made to compete with Porches, Corvettes, etc.  When first made the VR4 led the auto industry in aerodynamic design and featured 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering.  This VR4 also has a short throw shifter, mag wheels (8.5" x 17"), GForce performance chip, a new exhaust system (Deep Stage Garage Racing, S style; stainless steel piping and Catback muffler system with removable inserts - installed December 2012), newly installed Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP 245/45/17 ZP tires (rated at >180 mph), remote controlled fender skirts and rear spoiler (automatic, manual and off settngs), tour and sport suspension settings, power sun roof, power multi-adjustment driver seat, leather seats (new Katzkin leather seats installed December 2012), cruise control, driver airbag, heated power mirrors, front and rear defrosters, washers and wipers (installed December 2012), air conditioning and electronically controlled environment, Pioneer/Infinity stereo system with CD player and Blue Tooth (installed new November 2012), enclosed headlights, fog lights, keyless entry, and new insulation and foil covers under hood and in trunk over the spare tire (installed February 2013).  The car is dent and ding free.  Paint is in excellent condition with no oxidation.  The car has been garage-stored.

This is an exceptional and exciting car to drive with lots of power (with the performance chip and new exhaust system, it likely develops more than 350 hp).  Check out various performances by VR4s on YouTube.  Its aerodynamics provides exceptional road stability and easily handles the tightest curves.  Definitely one of the most enjoyable cars you will ever drive.  Due to the four wheel drive, the car performs exceptionally well on icy, snow-covered and snowpacked roads and can be driven to any ski resort in North America without tire chains.  Although not recommended, skis can be placed inside the passenger compartment as shown in the photos.  The yellow skis measure 178 cm in length; the other pair 168 cm.

Depending on distance, I might be willing to personally deliver the car at the buyer's expense.  If interested, please contact me.

I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Mitsubishi Mirage L Hatchback

Wed, Jun 16 2021

Chrysler Corporation began selling Mitsubishi Colt Galants with Dodge Colt badging in North America all the way back in the 1971 model year, with many more rebadged Mitsubishis to follow in later decades. Soon after Mitsubishi developed the new front-wheel-drive Mirage for the home market in 1978, this car received Dodge Colt and Plymouth Champ badging on these shores. Sales were brisk, despite internal competition from the Simca-derived Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon. Starting in the 1983 model year, Mitsubishi began selling vehicles under its own badging here; at first, Americans could buy the Starion, Tredia, Cordia, and Mighty Max. For the 1985 through 1987 model years, the second-generation Mirage rolled out of North American Mitsubishi showrooms, doing sales battle with its near-identical Colt twins at the Dodge and Plymouth dealers. Here's one of those cars, found in battered condition in a Denver self-service car graveyard. This car didn't get much beyond 150,000 miles during its career, but those miles must have been hard ones. More likely, it spent long periods (maybe decades) sitting outdoors after being parked for the last time. Presumably, the driver's side was facing south and bore the brunt of many years of mile-high solar radiation. While the 1985-1987 Dodge and Plymouth Colts sold in huge numbers here, this generation of Mirage didn't catch on nearly as well with car shoppers. I hadn't seen an early Mirage in a junkyard for many years when I found this one. The "Big Nose Guy" icons on the HVAC controls appeared in all Mitsubishi-built cars sold here during the 1980s. Mitsubishi was (and is) a consumer-electronics behemoth, and so the high-end factory AM/FM/cassette rig in this car bears the same nameplates as the car itself. I couldn't get the hood open, but this car was almost certainly powered by an ordinary 4G Orion engine. The transmission is the five-speed manual, which was easier to use than the dual-range Twin-Stick four-speed but not nearly as cool. Starting in the 1989 model year, the Mitsubishi Mirage had to compete with three different badge-engineered siblings for sales: the Dodge Colt, the Plymouth Colt, and the Eagle Summit. On top of that, the first-generation Hyundai Excel and its Mitsubishi Precis twin were close cousins to the Mirage. This content is hosted by a third party. Mitsubishi Pajero successor still years away, but plug-in hybrid tech likely

Sun, 10 Mar 2013

You might not know it from looking at today's Mitsubishi showrooms, but the struggling Japanese automaker has a pretty enviable reputation for producing robust off-roaders. Its Pajero SUV built a solid reputation worldwide on the back of its durability in harsh climates, earning it consideration alongside the likes of venerable explorers like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Land Rover Range Rover. Unfortunately, the Pajero eventually succumbed to one particularly harsh climate - the North American truck market. After enjoying a long run, Mitsubishi finally pulled the plug on the SUV's Montero twin after the 2006 model year. Blame evolving consumer tastes, low brand visibility, a lackluster marketing budget, or the need for updated product - in fact, go ahead and blame all of the above.
Despite its age, the current fourth-generation Pajero (itself arguably an extensive rework of the previous model) has been carrying a lot of water for the brand in other parts of the world since its debut in 2006. So it's pretty well time for a new one. Problem is, its replacement is still a ways off. That's according to Australia's Go Auto, which has learned that the next-generation Pajero could still be three years away, if not longer.
According to Go Auto, the next model will be a much-changed beast, with design targets including a major weight loss and increased efficiency to go along with more luxurious appointments. In order to make gains in fuel economy, the plug-in hybrid technology that the company has already introduced for its new Outlander crossover will likely be a part of the SUV's development program.

Mitsubishi bringing Concept XR-PHEV II to Geneva

Wed, Feb 25 2015

Head to the Geneva Motor Show this year and you'll see what could very well be the next production Mitsubishi. Though dubbed a "concept," the XR-PHEV II is clearly closer to being ready for production than the first XR-PHEV concept it showcased in Toyko back in 2013. Spindly as they may be, this one actually has side mirrors, the bodywork is a little toned down compared to the previous concept, there are actual openings in the grille, and you can actually see what looks like a functional interior through the windows. Overall the shape of this urban crossover looks promising, reminding us a bit of the Lamborghini Urus concept crossed with a Lancer Evo. But at least as important is what's under the hood. That's where Mitsubishi has placed its latest plug-in hybrid powertrain. The system includes an electric motor good for 160 horsepower, juiced by a 12-kWh battery. Strangely, the Japanese automaker hasn't specified what it's mated to, exactly, except to say that it's a MIVEC engine – those being the letters Mitsubishi uses for its variable valve timing system and utilized on gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 1.0 to 3.8 liters and from three cylinders to six. The previous concept, however, utilized a 1.1-liter turbo three with 134 hp on tap. It looks like we'll have to wait closer to its debut for further details and photos, but for now you can scope out all there is to know so far in the press release below. MITSUBISHI MOTORS AT 2015 GENEVA INTERNATIONAL MOTORSHOW Feb 25, 2015 TOKYO - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will unveil the global debut of the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II[1] as well as the European premiere of the L200[2] pick-up truck at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show[3]. The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is a small SUV powered by a new plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) system and the all-new L200 is due to go on sale in Europe this summer. The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is a small SUV concept expected to be MMC's second PHEV following the Outlander PHEV launched in the UK in April, 2014. The new PHEV system presented in the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is a lightweight, compact and high-efficiency front-engine/front-drive system ideal for an urban crossover. The system is estimated to achieve very low CO2 emissions of below 40 g/km, among the lowest of any PHEV, while also delivering gutsy and smooth performance with excellent response with its 163PS electric motor.
