I am not a dealership, nor am I trying to sell you a burned street racing car. This is my personal car and baby, always garaged. This is a 22 year old classic car with less than 29,000 original and unaltered miles (verified by CARMAX report). Do not expect a perfect off the dealership car. I drive this car and as such you should expect some minor wear and tear (and I have point them out in the video to the best of my abilities). However, for a 22 year old car, it is in impressive condition and lots of fun to drive. You climb into the driver’s seat not knowing what you are about to experience, but once inside the cockpit seems more like that of a fighter jet than that of a sports car. With the engine idling, there is little more than a soft, baritone rumble coming from the tuned exhaust pipes. Revving the engine gives you the feeling of untamed power. Ease the shifter into first gear and the transmission responds with reassuring precision. Press down on the accelerator and experience total exhilaration. Both intercooled turbochargers emit a noticeable shrill hiss, and 300 plus horsepower pours into the full-time all-wheel-drive system. The alloy wheels and 255/45 Z-rated tires dig into the pavement, the suspension tenses, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 launches off the line. Sweep into the first turn, and the same-phase four-wheel steering generates breathtaking stability. The steering wheel is alive with information about the road. View a video of this car here: Your confidence soars. Your heart pounds. You can feel the intense power of which you are in control. Accelerate out of the turn and all-wheel drive with two limited-slip differentials creates unyielding traction. You power out of the corner with riveting control. The car appears to be riding on rails. On the open highway, the Active Aero system automatically adjusts the front air dam and rear spoiler, leveraging the wind for even more stability – without increasing aerodynamic drag. Electronically controlled shock absorbers immediately adapt to changing conditions. At cruising speed, you pull the shifter back into fifth gear. Before you know it, you’re flying thru the atmosphere! The engine settles down into an easy rhythm, the suspension relaxes, and the 3OOOGT VR-4 seems to become a form of transportation that NASA has overlooked… and I am fortunate enough to experience this thrill every time a drive. So if I like it so much, why am I selling? I want to buy another toy. This does not mean I am desperate to sell and serious buyers are welcomed. Do not ask me about the reserve price (this will be unfair to other bidding), but I will be more than glad to provide you with more car info. If you are the successful bidder a non- refundable $500 deposit is required within 24 hrs. via Pay Pal. Full payment must be made upon delivery to you or delegated shipping company. You are responsible for transportation or delivery. Do not miss this unique 3000 GT VR4. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer to shrink
Wed, 24 Oct 2012The aging, oft-forgotten Mitsubishi Lancer won't get a replacement until sometime in 2014, but a new report states that the next-generation model could be a relatively drastic departure from the car you see here. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation President Osamu Masuko told Australian site The Motor Report that the new Lancer will be smaller than the current car, going in a different direction than the vast majority of other automakers.
"The new Lancer will be a very new car, and will be sized somewhere between the current model and its predecessor," Masuko-san told The Motor Report.
There are both pros and cons to this decision. On the plus side, a smaller car means the Lancer will likely have a weight advantage over other vehicles in its class. That said, Mitsubishi will need to find ways to maximize interior space and create efficient packaging in order to still have its compact sedan remain competitive with strong offerings like the Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus and so on.
Junkyard Gem: 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
Sun, Dec 6 2020I do manage to find the occasional discarded Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution during my Denver-area junkyard explorations, but such cars— like their Subaru WRX rivals— are always far too crashed and/or stripped to be worth documenting for this series. When it comes to the Mitsubishi Lancer O-Z Rally Edition, though, I get the impression that just about every Lancer sold here during the first part of the 2000s had that all-show-and-no-go package; after shooting several examples, I no longer pay attention to the O-Z Rally. The Ralliart Lancer, on the other hand, was a genuine factory hot-rod, with much more power and a stiffer suspension than the ordinary Lancer. We saw a used-up bright yellow '05 Ralliart last year, and now here's a black '04 in a different Denver yard. The Lancer Ralliart wasn't anywhere near as fast and crazy as its Evolution sibling, but (compared to the base Lancer) it came with more power, bigger brakes, stiffer suspension, better steering, and bucket seats sourced from the JDM Evolution GTA. List price was $18,572 (about $26,110 today), far cheaper than the $29,999 ($42,175 today) Evo VIII. The regular Lancer sedan had an unimpressive 120 horses from its 2.0-liter engine in 2004, while the Lancer Ralliart got this 162-horse MIVEC 2.4. Just in case you were wondering, MIVEC stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-Timing-and-Lift Electronic Control, which doesn't sound as cool as VTEC, but at least seems more convincing than Daewoo's D-TEC. Nearly every O-Z Rally Lancer I see has an automatic transmission, but this Ralliart rolled out of the showroom with a genuine 5-speed manual and Evo shifter. The Japan-market front seats are a bit racier than the ordinary Lancer's, too. Though it is a Colorado car and drivers here think they need AWD to navigate a quarter-inch of snow in the supermarket parking lot, it lacks the all-wheel-drive system that went on the Evo. What more do you want for $18,572? I'm a bit surprised that some local Lancer owner didn't snag the factory strut-tower brace immediately, but I'll bet someone buys this part before the car gets crushed. Mitsubishi NA gets new president and CEO
Thu, 06 Feb 2014Last week, we told you that Mitsubishi will be getting a new global president, with Osamu Masuko stepping aside in favor of Tesuro Aikawa. The executive changes at the Japanese automaker are hitting closer to home, now, with official word that Mitsubishi Motors North America is getting a new president and CEO, as well. Effective March 1, Ryujiro Kobashi will take over for Yoichi Yokozawa, 49, who has been in charge since April of 2011. Yokozawa is headed back to Japan, where he will assume a spot in the company's corporate planning offices.
Kobashi, 53, has been with Mitsubishi since 1983 when he was fresh out of college. Previous to taking the top job in North America, he was installed as corporate general manager of the NA office at Mitsubishi's headquarters in Japan, where he coordinated regional operations for the US, Canada and Mexico. Before that, he held posts in planning, marketing, advertising and public relations for the company.
Kobashi takes over the company's North American operations at a pivotal time, when the region is finally showing signs of life after a prolonged period of stagnation. As Automotive News notes, Mitsubishi only sold 62,227 vehicles in the US in 2013, but that figure still represents an eight-percent increase. Its crossovers, the new-for-2014 Outlander and the two-year-old Outlander Sport have been selling relatively well, and the affordable Mirage subcompact is a new arrival at dealers.
