Hello fellow eBayers! I am listing my 1961 Mini Traveller. I just purchased a dream car of mine so I am letting my summer family fun car go because I can't keep everything.
I purchased the car from a great friend and well respected member of the vintage car community here on Long Island NY. He kept the car in his climate controlled basement for over 30 years. He bought the car of the original owner in Vermont that was moving too Texas and could not bring the Mini with him. My friend brought it back to Long Island where he spent almost 3 decades restoring the car starting with a motor swap from the 850 to the twin carb 1275 motor with twin SU carbs. He said the paint was faded and the wood needed varnishing so he redid all the cosmetics. When I got the car he admitted he never actually drove the car! Just restored it to almost done and that was how I got it. I then went through all the mechanicals so that it could be a fun reliable family hauler. I will break the car down into sub categories to give the most accurate and easy to follow rundown on this sweet Mini.

The Body and paint- the car is restored to be between what people call a "driver" and a show car. While as you can see the car is quite nice it's not to nice to the point you can't use it. It has some minor scratches and some touch ups but it's meant to be driven not just stared at. The car has a beautiful deep red luster and bright chrome work. The bumpers have some minor dings but again I am giving an honest description. I cannot find any evidence of rot or rusted out panels. The floors are rock solid and what you would expect from looking at the top.

The Suspension- the shocks look new I believe they are Koni's all around. The car is the cliche "handles like a go kart" kind of car. A great entrance ramp or canyon carver vehicle!

The Wheels and Tires- this past summer I fitted a brand new set of high performance Falken tires all around on its refinished 1969 period correct date coded made in England Dunlop rims. These are very cool and VERY light. I will also include 8 stock wheels that need paint and 5 brand new still with the sticker on them tires for these wheels. I also will include 4 Cooper S hubcaps.

The Engine- The 1275cc engine really makes this car. The car impresses all and most of all the driver. It will light the tires up from a stop and make all the admirers at any intersection wonder "what the heck was that and boy did it just take off!" It has great oil pressure and does not leak or smoke. Solid. It starts right up cold or hot. I rebuilt the twin SU, generator, had the radiator redone, new water pump, tune up and any bugs were sorted this past summer.
Included with the car is the original 850 motor and 4 Speed if you want to go slow or just horde stuff like me.

The Brakes- this past summer I installed new front wheel cylinders and shoes and rebuilt the rears. The master cylinder was also rebuilt. The brakes are working as they should but if I were to get more serious about spirited driving I would suggest a front upgrade to disc. End of story they work fine and shouldn't give any issue as I went through them.

The Transmission and Clutch- the hydraulics were recently rebuilt and the car engages smoothly and shifts well with no grinding up or downshifting. I have a lot of spare parts including a cool old "magic wand" style shifter. Anything I have mini goes to the buyer.

The Interior- The black interior is in excellent condition with all new carpets and S style door panels. The front seats were updated to later ones with headrests (my friend opted for safety over style not me :-) the black headliner has a couple tears in it but I purchased a brand new headliner kit from Mini Mania that comes with the car. I don't know how familiar you are with Mini cars but they are quite easy to work on...and fun!

The "Electronics"- no navigation or on star on this one! Everything it has though works. All lights right down to the illuminated turn signal stalk...(so cute) The variable speed heater blower, the horn, wipers...everything works as designed. The Generator is rebuilt and the charging system is working correctly.

The Summary- this is a great fun honest sorted car. Please bid to own. I started this car with no reserve this means high bidder wins it. For those who "have" to have it I believe my buy it now number is the real value.
I have boxes of spare parts that come with the car. I even have an Austin 1275  drivetrain with a automatic on it that could be installed for those who don't want to drive stick. Again this is a great car that is loved wherever it goes and seems to even make sad, angry, hostile and otherwise dysfunctional people smile and enjoy the rest of their day (really!)
Any bidders with less than 10 feedback MUST email me and let me know they are serious prior to bidding. Let's make this a fun sale and good luck!

Last chance to order an R56 Mini Hardtop

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Mini will be ending custom orders of the current R56 Cooper Hardtop ahead of the retooling process for the new F56 Mini. That means owners who aren't enamored with what they've seen of the model's new look but still want a personalized version of the tossable hot hatch had best get down to their local Mini dealership and submit their order post-haste.
According to Mini enthusiast site Motoringfile, all orders must be submitted by August 28 in order to get a custom build. Orders are also locked in after that, so if you do get one of the spots, make sure you're absolutely content with the car you order. This cutoff will affect all models of the Hardtop, including the John Cooper Works model.
After August 28, owners will need to wait for the new Hardtop to arrive, which Motoringfile estimates will be in March of 2014. If you miss out on this final allocation of hardtops, all is not lost, however. Mini will still accept personalized orders on other bodystyles, which won't be replaced by F56-based models for some time.

2021 Mini Countryman shows off its fresh face

Tue, May 19 2020

The 2021 Mini Countryman has been spied once again, and it has shed some of its camouflage. We get a really good look at what appears to be the base Countryman's new front and rear fascias, updated taillights and interior. Otherwise, the little crossover is mostly unchanged. Up front, the bumper changes from three large grille openings to one standard one, and it gets the same slats as the grille between the headlights. On either side are big, round fog lights, which are themselves flanked by openings that probably create wind curtains around the wheels. Looking at the headlights, they have new internals with more squared-off projector surrounds. We also get some good looks at the John Cooper Works model. The shots of it at the Nurburgring give us a good look at the front, which looks generally unchanged with the same front bumper as the current car, but possibly with a new grille and headlight design. At the back, the car reveals new Union Jack taillights similar to those introduced on the Mini Hardtop and Clubman. Another photo shows what seems to be a John Cooper Works Countryman with part of a cloth cover lifted. This shows the rear bumper is mostly the same, but it gets a new mesh grille pattern over the rear diffuser area. Finally, we get a look at the interior. Most of it is the same, but the instrument cluster loses the analog dial of the current model. In its place is the oval-shaped cluster from the Mini Cooper SE electric car, which likely combines analog dials on either side with a screen nestled between. These changes are all relatively minor, and seem to be production ready. As such, we would expect the changes to be introduced for the 2021 model year. The reveal could be later this year. Of course, it's also possible the changes could be pushed back in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. Related Video:
