2002 Mini Cooper S Hatchback 2-door 1.6l on 2040-cars
Springfield, Ohio, United States
Up for auction is my 2002 MINI Cooper S. I have owned the car since 2006. Very low miles for a 12 year old car, 96500. Body and interior are in good condition, drivers seat is showing wear as seen in pictures. Exterior is clean and straight. No damage or dents. There are two spots above the rear license plate wear the paint is starting to bubble from rust.
Power windows, locks, AC, CD Player, all work perfectly. 6 speed manual transmission. Traction control. Has factory installed driving lights. ALTA cold air intake. One of the nicest first year MINIs you are likely to find, there are a couple things that will require attention though. Currently the muffler is off. Support bracket rusted through and the muffler came off. This was about a year ago, I kindof like the sound of it now so I haven't gotten around to fixing it. Still have the muffler, just needs reattached. Also, I just had the oil changed and the shop indicated that they spilled roughly half a quart of oil, I cleaned up most of it, but probably not all. Doesn't effect anything other than having extraneous oil. They also indicated that I may have a small oil leak from the crank position sensor. Apparently this is a common oil leak area for the R53. I had not noticed any oil leaking and they were not certain as they had spilled oil and could not be sure if it was from the spill or an actual leak, but just want to make the buyer aware that it may need to be looked at. Oh, and the white vinyl stripes on the bonnet have cracks from age. Car drives and handles incredibly well. Clear title, never been wrecked to my knowledge. Will make someone a wonderful car. I have had her for 8 years and just don't drive much anymore. Time for someone else to enjoy her! Any questions, please feel free to ask. Car is for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end auction in the event of a local sale. Car can be inspected, just let me know when is convenient. Thanks and happy bidding! |

Mini fesses up to Countryman clutch issue, plans fix
Sat, 10 Nov 2012Aside from the general lack of snow in the Midwest earlier this year that hampered our ability to properly play with our Blizzak-equipped Mini Contryman long-term test vehicle, the biggest problem we had with this crossover during the year we spent with it was the transmission. On four different monthly updates (September, October, November and June), all in the hands of different Autoblog editors, the Countryman's clutch was called out for being too finicky, leading to many stall outs. Apparently, we weren't alone in our assessment of the Countryman's clutch woes.
According to MotoringFile, Mini has updated the Countryman with a different clutch material and improved software. This much-needed change is being implemented starting this month, but Mini hasn't said what it is doing about existing 2011 and 2012 Countryman models that are afflicted with this problem.
Head over to MotoringFile to see the full official statement from Mini USA on this issue.
2025 Mini Countryman S All4 will start at $39,895
Tue, Nov 21 2023Mini uploaded a bit more information on the 2025 Countryman S All4 to its retail web site, including output figures and price. For now, this is the least pricey trim in the new Countryman lineup, powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder used in its sibling, the BMW X1 xDrive28i. It’s making the same 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, too, which Mini says this is enough to get the all-wheel-drive SUV from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, 0.3 second behind the time BMW claims for the X1. The automaker calls this "a super-sized sequel to our original Countryman." It will come with a substantial price increase that one might also call super-sized, although it's difficult to line up this variant of the new Countryman with the current range. The 2025 model is going to cost $38,900 before a $995 destination fee, totaling $39,895 not counting options and the rest. ThatÂ’s about $6,000 more than the starting point of todayÂ’s three-strong range, the $33,645 134-hp non-S Countryman. The 2024 Countryman S makes 189 hp and 207 pound-feet of torque and starts at $33,895. For comparison, the price difference between the 2024 Countryman JCW and the 2025 version is $4,095. The additional cost of the new model will buy a larger car with 20% more cargo space, almost 30% more power and more than 40% more torque, the latest tech, and some snazzy two-tone, 19-inch wheels. We've got a price on the battery-electric 2025 Countryman SE ALL4 as well: $46,195, according to the web site. This represents the upper trim with 313 hp and 363 lb-ft when using the boost function, able to hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and go an estimated 245 miles on a charge. Along with the other variants mentioned above, it can be reserved now. The Countryman S All4 and JCW are expected to begin reaching dealers in the spring with the electric versions coming a few months later. We're still waiting for price, powertrain, and range details for the entry-level battery-electric 2025 Countryman E coming next fall. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. 2022 Mini Hardtop Brick Lane Edition is inspired by London's East End
Fri, Feb 18 2022Mini announced three special-edition models in February 2022, and it's not stopping there. It unveiled a fourth car called Brick Lane Edition that draws inspiration from London's East End to give the two- and four-door variants of the Hardtop Cooper S more flair. Visually, the Brick Lane Edition stands out from the standard Hardtop with White Silver Metallic exterior paint, a Soul Blue roof panel, black door mirror caps, and chrome trim. Soul Blue, Frozen Blue, and Mint graphics on the hood add a finishing touch to the look while creating a link between the car and the bricks that Brick Lane gets its name from. Mini also added 17-inch wheels painted black, decals above the rocker panels and edition-specific badges on both sides. These changes are relatively minor, but they give the Mini a cool look. Leather-upholstered and heated front sport seats are among the highlights in the cabin. The long list of standard features also includes a panoramic moonroof, piano black interior trim, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a Harman-Kardon surround-sound system. You won't find bricks or blue accents in the engine bay. Power comes from a stock, Cooper S-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that's turbocharged to develop 189 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. It spins the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, but a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic linked to a pair of shift paddles is available at no extra cost. Mini dealers across the nation will begin receiving the Hardtop Brick Lane Edition in March 2022. Pricing starts at $36,525 for the two-door model and $37,525 for the four-door, figures that include a surprisingly reasonable $850 destination charge. This isn't the first time that a British brand unveils a special-edition model inspired by London's East End. In late 2021, Triumph channeled the "the vibrant, custom-classic motorcycle culture of London's East End" into the head-turning Street Twin EC1 Special Edition.
