Up for sale is my prized collectors find that I no longer have the time to finish. Hoping to pass it on to a fellow enthusiast who will restore it to its glory.
1959 Classic Mini Cooper Shell / Early 1960 Austin 850 MKI First Original Production Year Body Style TITLE Titled Florida 1959 Austin Mini - Clean in Hand ABOUT Started Restoration and unfortunately have no time to complete. Taken half the car to bare metal and primed, then started working on floor when work stopped. Car is in amazing shape except for the floors. I have all period correct metal ready to weld in, spent a full year aquiring and having the piecs custom made. This is an extremely early MK1 car and as such they do not make the body panels for them. So the starting auction price is at my cost for the body $2k and new custom metal at $4k, not the hundred hours already invested. Body is in extremely great shape for these first cars, only the floors need attention for which I have painstakenly assembled and had custom made in Europe and shipped to the states. Key Features in the 1959/Early '60 Minis that make them unique and rare.
You can download the 1959/60 Mini Buyers guide PDF here COMPLETED it will look like this if you choose. Body was originally painted Farina Grey. note picture is an example only.

I can box and ship freight via truck anywhere in the USA. If you are overseas you will need to arrange your own transport, I can get it loaded on a freight truck from normal warehouse loading dock. Mini marks International Women's Day with Pat Moss Edition
Tue, Mar 8 2022Mini is celebrating International Women's Day with a new Pat Moss Edition package for the 2023 Mini Cooper. Moss was the first driver to win an international rally behind the wheel of a car wearing the Mini badge when she took first place in the Tulip Rally — from Noordwijk in the Netherlands to the French Riviera and back again — in 1962. "This special edition not only commemorates the launch of MINIÂ’s extraordinary sporting career, but it also marks a pioneering achievement for women in motorsports," Mini said in its announcement. "Success in the Netherlands turned the classic Mini, Pat Moss and her co-driver Ann Wisdom into enduring heroines in a discipline otherwise dominated by both significantly larger vehicles, and male driving teams." Moss was the sister of Stirling Moss; she died in 2008. This appearance package includes Pat Moss signature decals on the front bumper (where Moss originally signed the car after one of its rally victories) and dash, stylized tulips integrated into the side markers, sill plates, steering wheel and wheel center caps, a fender decal detailing the Tulip Rally course and a decal on the hood commemorating the original rally victor's registration number. To the left of the wheel, there's another decal on the dash which might at first appear to be a stylized picket fence, but it's actually meant to look like pistons moving up and down, arranged to look like the letters "M" and "W" for "Moss" and "Wisdom." Globally, Mini will offer the Pat Moss Edition on the Cooper S Hardtop 2-door, a Cooper S Hardtop 4-door, and a John Cooper Works Hardtop, but only the JCW will be an option for U.S. customers. Pricing will be available closer to launch, we're told, but the Pat Moss edition is limited to just 800 units worldwide and given that it's based on the JCW's existing Iconic trim, which starts at about $40,000, it won't be cheap. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Mini teases third-gen hatch to debut next week
Mon, 11 Nov 2013All it takes is a small spark to set off a fire. Just look at what has happened since BMW brought back the Mini in the early 2000s. What started with a hatchback has since spawned more bodystyles than we care to count and almost as many imitators. The second generation followed in 2007, and now Mini is preparing to launch the third.
The new Mini is scheduled to debut a week from now on November 18 at the Oxford plant in England, just days before the LA Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show kick off and on the birthday of the original's designer Sir Alec Issigonis.
The third generation of the popular retro hatchback is expected to closely follow the lead set by the Mini Vision concept revealed a few months ago, but then we already knew that, having seen numerous undisguised photos of the new car in action. Still, the half-minute teaser video embedded below does a decent job of drumming up some enthusiasm, so if you're enamored of the Anglo-Saxon retromobile, head on down to check it out.
Mini fesses up to Countryman clutch issue, plans fix
Sat, 10 Nov 2012Aside from the general lack of snow in the Midwest earlier this year that hampered our ability to properly play with our Blizzak-equipped Mini Contryman long-term test vehicle, the biggest problem we had with this crossover during the year we spent with it was the transmission. On four different monthly updates (September, October, November and June), all in the hands of different Autoblog editors, the Countryman's clutch was called out for being too finicky, leading to many stall outs. Apparently, we weren't alone in our assessment of the Countryman's clutch woes.
According to MotoringFile, Mini has updated the Countryman with a different clutch material and improved software. This much-needed change is being implemented starting this month, but Mini hasn't said what it is doing about existing 2011 and 2012 Countryman models that are afflicted with this problem.
Head over to MotoringFile to see the full official statement from Mini USA on this issue.
