Mechanic's Special - Stong Runner on 2040-cars
Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States

1970 MGB GT – Mechanic’s Special – Daily Driver - Strong runner – Well sorted GT with most all mechanical issues addressed. Recent motor swap from another GT has 185 P.S.I. across the cylinders and 55 lbs oil pressure at idle, 75 lbs on the road with rebuilt HIF carbs, new clutch and rear main. As a daily for five years it has new springs, kingpins, drive shaft and U-joints, brakes, hydraulics, wheels and tires, starter, starter relays and current tune-up. Belts, hoses, alternator, fuel pump, rear hub splines, ignition switch and all column switches have been replaced. Speedo inoperable. Paint is probably 20 years old but shines well and looks good as only a red, wire wheeled GT can look. There is obvious past body work and there are rust bubbles coming up over the rear arches that should be addressed. Inner rockers are good. There is some rust in the cross frame but in the world of GTs not so bad. Interior has new door panels, new door seals, okay carpet and incorrect seats which are quite comfortable and sit lower for more head room. Have rear sail panels and stainless for front and rear glass which is also fairly new. Drive anywhere and look good getting there.
