This restoration has been a complete labor of love, resulting in a unique, modified antique car. I purchased the MG 10 years ago. At the time, it needed structural work because of rust on the driver's side. That required me to focus on the inner and outer rocker panels, rebuild the unibody under the floor panel, as well as the dog-leg panels behind both doors.

Even then, the car had no real dents or dings. I repainted the body, and two years later, I installed the chrome grill and fabricated the front bumper. Therefore, the car is obviously not an original rubber bumper, but a modified 1976.

The engine is from a 1974 model and has low miles. It is a twin SU carburetor, rather than the single carburetor version with a catalytic converter, the latter of which which was notorious for lower horsepower and other related problems. The car really ran well until last summer when the float in the carburetor failed. I replaced it, but the part I found was a little different and, as a result, gas still did not feed properly to that carburetor.

Since then, I have not been able to focus on the car and have decided to sell it. It runs, but it's rough. It ran great before the float issue occurred and is really fun to drive and easy to maintain. The interior looks good with some modifications to the center console, and I also put on a new top and tires. It has won prizes at a regional British car show.

This car has been my baby, always covered in a garage when not in use. It would be impossible to count the man hours spent working on it. It is a terrific, modified antique waiting for its next owner to take it a step further.
