Just got back from a 50 mile ride thru the Canyons and hills of southern California. Had a ball and the car didn't miss a beat. Got Gas, people started coming over and asking me questions about the car. Went to lunch, watched people walking over to the car and walking around it checking it out. Wish I looked that good. If you don't want attention then skip this car. Is it or was it a Race Car? I don't think so. I would have at least changed the suspension and upgraded the stock brakes. It would have been very interesting trying to slow down at turn one at Willow Springs Race way especially with 4 times the power from the vortec V-6 engine. I think it would make a great touring car. I had a custom shifter made for the T-5 trans. shifts great but the trans is noisy. Might be the long storage as it got a little better as I drove along. Had a new radiator with electric fan installed and now it runs very cool. Also had a new exhaust system installed and kept the cherry bomb mufflers. Great backflow and it sounds and looks great. If your looking for a fun car to drive and improve then consider this car. Are there things that need to be fixed? it's a 43 year old car so yes. If you want to go real fast change the brakes and rear end at least. Want to corner hard then change the suspension. Rust? The only place is the upper section of the floor pans(common) I have a stock set of floor pans that go with the car. gauges need to be sorted out. body is good paint OK small chips and nicks but seems to go with the race car theme.
