This is a 1956 MGA that a previous owner had begun to restore. Let's start with the challenges: The rear fenders need doglegs. The bulkhead has gathered water in the corners and has rusted through, so patching will be needed there (see photos). There are a few pencil holes in the frame where water has gathered under the floor boards (photos). This is a most usual event for older MGA's. The rear clip is solid, but needs small dents pounded and smoothed over. The car has an 1800 MGB engine, as the former owner had started what many MGA owners have done to garner more power. The engine is good. The battery boxes have been cut out, presumably to weld on a 12 volt battery box. The pluses: Front fenders and nose clip are in very good shape. The better part of the frame, aside from the pencil holes, and suspensions are also good. The car is complete, but will need another transmission cover if you choose to keep the 1800 engine. I do have a BP15 disassembled engine that I will sell separately, if you decide to go back to original. There is very little rust, other than surface oxidizing, on the car. New sills and pillars have been welded in. This is a huge plus. See photos. Almost all of the small pieces needed to restore the car are there, including dash and gauges (photos), starter and generator, switches, splash and door shut panels, and cockpit rails. Top frame is also there. Nothing major (or very costly) is missing. This is a great candidate for restoration.
