This is a super rare 4spd AC Q code XR7 Comes with a MARTI report. The Kevin Marti book of Cougar XR7's states that there were 3100 XR7 convertibles produced in 1973 and only 64 with the 4spd and the Q code 264HP motor. The Black and tan color combo looks great on this car. I just bought the car from a person who needed garage space because he just bought another car. he was the second owner of record I can explain more of the history by phone I brought it to my mechanic and he went through it and fixed things as needed new power steering lines tune.time and a new voltage regulator were all it needed. I find any serious buyers will call and I encourage that. Basically the car is a great cruise night car with ice cold AC that sounds rides and drives great. Super smooth on the highway and the fun of a standard shift on back roads. Again please call for honest info Email call or text Vin nine seven eight 835 6009
The black paint I would rate really nice I have photos showing a couple imperfections
The car shows 90K but the motor has a nice cam in it and an Edelbrock manifold and carb the original carb manifold air cleaner and valve covers come with it the chrome dress up but I am not sure when it was done or what was done to the motor when they opened it up to put the cam in It does sound and run super It has power front discs and rear drums
New flowmaster exhaust with just the right muscle car sound.. New front end work The tires have approx 600 miles on them. The rally wheels have the correct Mercury insignia on the caps
The interior as you see looks very nice with just a few small blemishes here and there. All gauges work even the clock The AM Fm Radio works OK All power windows work but the rear drivers side has to be put up from the switch at the window itself The map light and courtesy light work There is a new custom carpet that comes with the car when installed it will compliment the interior quite nicely.
The exterior has no visible rust anywhere the undercarriage, frame, floor pans and trunk are rust free. The bumpers are clear of any pitty or rust at all
The top is in good shape except for the one area depicted in the photos Its something that could be lived with in top down weather and fixed or replaced at the new owners convienience Again I encourage questions or inspections from serious buyers All questions will be answered with complete honesty

Ford recalls 300,000 Crown Vics over lighting module
Wed, Dec 23 2015The Basics: Ford is recalling 312,814 units of the Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis sedans from the 2003-2005 model years. They were built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant between Oct. 3, 2001, and Aug. 2, 2005. Ford says 296,004 of those units are located in the United States, with another 14,714 in Canada and 2,096 in Mexico. The Problem: The solder joints on the lighting control module could crack, depriving the headlamps of the power they need to light the way ahead. That could increase the risk of a crash, particularly at night and in other low-visibility situations. Injuries/Deaths: Ford reports that it is aware of 11 accidents that resulted from the problem, leading to one injury described as "minor." The Fix: The manufacturer is instructing dealers to replace the entire lighting control module. If You Own One: Make sure your headlights are working before getting under way. If they're not, avoid driving under low-light conditions, including at night, in heavy precipitation, or in fog. Mercury Cougar from Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' is up for auction
Fri, Nov 20 2020To a James Bond fan, this is a very cool and important car. This 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 up for auction by Bonhams was one of three used during the filming of 1969's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," the one-and-done film starring George Lazenby that's a dark horse favorite among many Bond fans (this one included, there's a Japanese-market 'OHMSS' poster hanging behind me as I type this). However, this was not James Bond's car in the movie. He drove an Aston Martin DBS, including in the film's pre-titles sequence when he follows Tracy di Vicenzo driving her bright red Cougar. She would go on to rescue him with it in Switzerland (hence the skis), sacrificing its pretty red paint and body work in a demolition derby on ice that they use to shake Blofeld's Benz-driving goons. Later, after getting caught in a blizzard, they seek refuge in a barn -- a pivotal scene in the film and one where this particular Cougar was apparently used. ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE | Ice Car Race However, even without the Bond connection, this Cougar is a very cool car. It was one of only 127 in 1969 to be fitted with the top-of-the-line 428 CobraJet Ram Air V8 rated at 335 horsepower. Tracy had a serious muscle car. Bonham's doesn't seem to have thought to provide a Marti report, but I'm guessing the build of XR7, convertible and a color combo of matching red exterior and interior wasn't exactly a common one. Well, we know there were at least three. With skis and French number plates, too. As for the '69 Cougar itself, this was the only year it looked like this: it got a new body for '69 that would last two years, but the horizontal grille slats that extended over the headlight doors (so cool!) didn't carry over to 1970. It looked worse, and it could easily be argued that it was only downhill from here for the Cougar. The auction is set for December 16 and Bonhams is estimating a sale price of between $130,000 and $200,000. That certainly makes sense given the rarity of a CobraJet Cougar, the film connection and the complete restoration undertaken by the man who found it in a classified ad in the late 1980s. He originally just wanted it for the engine until he discovered the Bond connection. I actually saw this very car at the 50th Anniversary "Bond in Motion" exhibit at the Beaulieu Motor Museum in England back in 2013 (pictured below). There's also a model of the thing sitting next to me.
Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion
Wed, Jun 17 2015While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.
