The car has bubbles under the vinyl top and needs a new roof. It has an exhaust manifold leak. The auto choke needs work. Floors are mostly solid with one small rust thru on passenger side. It is not a rustbucket except for the roof. The sheet metal is good, straight, never been hit. The paint is fair, glossy but some alligator in places, The rubber is fair. Mileage is estimated, rolled over. A/C not hooked up."

This is a nice looking car that is on it's third owner since new. It has always been in Florida. It runs and drives great. It has a bad rust issue under the vinyl roof and needs a roof replacement and an exhaust manifold leak. We drove this car 4 hours to Daytona and back with no issues. The engine runs great, but sounds loud due to the manifold leak. It has a C-6 rear, and the 351 Cleveland 2 BBL.  Power steering and power brakes. The interior is ok, but some torn seams and the rear quarter back seat trim plastic is deteriorated.. The car looks and drives ok,  It needs someone to care for her and I have one too many classic cars and want to make more garage room. Do not bid if not serious. I reserve the right to sell early if sold locally and end the auction.  Do not ask me my reserve. Winning bidder must pay $500.00 within 48 hours of auction end, and pick up the car within two weeks after payment in full has been made and cleared. Have clear title. The paint looks good, but honestly, she needs a repaint. Not all the panels match, and someone spilled paint on the front passenger fender. This car is far too nice to consider parting....but I have no time to do the roof now. Thats why the price is as low as it is on buy it now. Open to offers but make it realistic or I will just keep the car. Call me at 239-823-3291 with questions. Ask for Ray or email ropthof2@comcast.net

I have a walkaround video I can email if you would like.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Does Lincoln Zephyr trademark mean a return to real names?

Wed, May 25 2016

Lincoln's long history includes many legendary names, and despite its short life, Zephyr retains a spot in that pantheon. Perhaps its will return once again: Ford Motor Co. applied to trademark Zephyr on May 11. Trademark filings can have ambiguous meanings, and often they're legal plays to get or keep the rights to a name. But in the last year, we've seen signs Lincoln is looking to use real names on its vehicles again. Obviously, it's keeping Navigator for its flagship sport-utility vehicle with a new model due next year. Reprising Continental for the MKS replacement was also well received. That said, Lincoln still uses the MKX and MKC "names" for its crossovers. Zephyr is a dustier moniker. It was used in the 1930s and '40s on a mid-level model spearheaded by Edsel Ford. The stylishly aerodynamic model was set between the Ford V8 De Luxe and more expensive Lincolns. It returned in 2006 as the Lincoln version of the Ford Fusion before that model was renamed MKZ. Mercury also used Zephyr on its version of the Ford Fairmont in the late 1970s and early '80s. Ford last held a trademark on the Zephyr name in 2013. The filing says Ford seeks to use Zephyr for "motor vehicles and parts and accessories therefor." That could mean a new car — or just parts. Putting the Zephyr badge back on the MKZ is the most likely bet. Meanwhile, Ford also moved to get the Thunderbird trademark on May 11 for the same vehicles and parts purpose, and it filed for the Mustang trademark for shampoo and lotions on May 4. A Lincoln spokesman said, "In the normal course of our business, we file trademarks for names," but had no further information. Related Video:

What do you do with a fake Bugatti Veyron for $60k?

Tue, Mar 29 2016

Replica cars are a challenging labor of love because builders spend countless hours recreating a vehicle that people immediately compare to the real thing. Perhaps, the person behind this Mercury Cougar-based Bugatti Veyron should look for another way to pass that time. The coupe is currently for sale on eBay Motors for $59,900. The builder deserves some credit because the fiberglass body looks acceptable in the photos from farther away. The car might even fool a few people from a distance. However, the devil is in the details, and the closer you look, the worse this gets. The side intakes are especially rough. The red interior is atrocious. It's essentially the Cougar's cabin but in an eye-searing shade accented with lots of fake carbon fiber. The seller's eBay Motors ad really tries to market the look, though. "You slide in to [sic] this extremely comfortable leather interior and you feel like your bank account just quadrupled in size," the listing says. Don't expect to win any top speed titles in this Veyron replica, either. Rather than a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16, a 3.0-liter V6 from a Mercury Sable sits at the front. Thanks to an upgraded intake and exhaust, the seller claims, "It doesn't sound like your grandmas [sic] Sable." We wish the seller the best of luck, but the asking price of nearly $60,000 is probably too optimistic. We would still think twice about buying it even after taking a zero off that figure, but at least this thing is fun to look at. Related Video:
