1970 Ford Maverick 2dr

Low RESERVE
Ebay doesnt have a Maverick category if you can believe that (yet they have a Comet)
So Im using the next best thing..

This car has great history, the original owner ordered a car with these specs for the most
part in 1969, sometime early 70 the local FORD dealer (Old Pueblo Ford) at the time called
the lady up and said we found a new car, with all the specs you wanted and we are shipping
it in from PHX to Tucson. She bought this car in mid 70s and has owned it ever since.
The car was driven as a daily driver up till about 15 yrs ago when it turned into a 2nd car.
The odometer shows just under 110k and its box A all original.
The car has the original motor, trans and AC option still. 90% of the paint is what Ford put
on when it was built in 70. Being in AZ its whole life, other then mild surface rust the sheetmetal
is amazing for a car this old. People back east could only hope their cars would look
this good at this age.  Az has been hard on the seatcovers, headliner and carpet and other
interior stuff, but that sort of stuff you can fix in a weekend and at a fair price too.
I bought this car hoping to keep it, but other things have come up and now its time to
find it a new owner.

Keep it as is and restore it back to stock, or maybe transplant a V8 into it
and make a Grabber Clone out of it. Either way I dont think youll ever go wrong.
Its about the cleanest Maverick Ive seen even around here in a few yrs.

DRIVETRAIN: under the hood is the original 250 cyl which runs and drives great.
Trans and brakes feel like that should and its a fun car to drive.
Has alot more power
then I expected thats for sure. AC all there but the
compressor no longer has the pulley on.
Not sure if its okay and maybe bypassed
in its life for some reason or if it needs a
new compressor and what not.

Just rebuilt the carb and cleaned out the fuel system the best we could
Only noise I hear under the hood sounds like a alternator bearing maybe.
Its not squeeling or anything, but its humming and almost sounds like a PS
pump going bad (except the car doesnt have ps). Would be an easy restoration
under the hood.

INTERIOR: again, Arizona has been hard on the rubber, plastic and vinyl on the car
from the heat and dryness, so expect to have to restore alot of the interior too.
Factory Tach & Gauges all seem to work correctly but the stock radio is gone.
Its fine for a cruiser or daily driver, but if will need work if you want to restore it to a
show car. But its all there and original .

EXTERIOR: the car is amazingly straight front to back. Other then a few dings
theres nothing bad to say about the body at all. Paint is almost all original, think the
front valance was repainted at one time in its life, but pretty sure rest of the paint
is still original. Chrome and stainless trim around the car are nice too.
Missing grill emblem, but I may have it somewhere around here.
95% rust free AZ car and unmolested.

Suspension: mostly all stock suspension with really old tires.
The car has been off the road now for about 10 or so yrs, maybe more.
Brakes feel good , shocks feel worn.

This car is 95% rust free Arizona car
We just sold a 78 King Cobra a few weeks ago here on ebay
(please by all means check out our feedback !!)
This is still a Muscle car that would be great to restore seeing that its
survived this long thanks to the AZ desert.

These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore, so dont miss
this chance to own a clean Maverick.

Check out ALL the pics below ----->

it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.

Hope you like the detailed pics
The interior floors are in nice shape as in much of the body
Im sure there is some old repairs done over the years
but it is a Project truck if you want to restore it, if you want
It just to go on trails and wheeling, it needs very little.

There you have it, probably The BEST represented JEEPS on Ebay.

Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows.
People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale
and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats
paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end.
Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days
speaks volumes.

Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort
of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.
People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are
fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.

Our auctions have NOTHING to hide .
Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know
exactly what you have in the end.

Email us with ANY questions before you bid please
If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles

Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself.
Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor

until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER
with great pics to help making your decision easier.
Along with ANY other questions you may have.

The ignition or starter part is still giving me issues and works when it

feels like it, BUT the funny thing is if I put a batter box or charger
on the battery, it will start EVERTIME when I do that. So not sure if its
still a cable, connection or old switch. Just want to put that out there before
the auction ends.

Junkyard Gem: 1989 Mercury Tracer Four-Door Hatchback

Sat, Mar 6 2021

During the life of the Mercury brand, which began in 1939 and ended in 2011, nearly every Mercury sold in North America was a cosmetically enhanced version of some Ford model also sold here. The exceptions to this rule came when Mercury sold Fords originally designed for non-North American markets, and for which no Ford-branded version existed on our shores. The 1991-1994 Capri was such a car, as was the 1999-2002 Cougar (the Mondeo-based Cougar was unique among all Mercuries in that no other cars in the sprawling Ford Empire shared its body). The 1970-1978 Capri was sold through Mercury dealers here, but never had Mercury badging. One of the rarest of all these Mercury cars was the first-generation Tracer, a Mazda design that made its way here via Australia. The bloodline of the Tracer goes back to the Mazda 323, the ancestor of today's Mazda3 and the platform used for all those US-market Ford Escorts of the 1990s. Starting in 1991, the Tracer name went onto badge-engineered Escorts, according to Mercury tradition, but the 1988-1989 Tracers were based on the Australian-market Ford KE Laser. Underneath all of those cars (as well as the early-1990s Capris) lived Mazda 323 running gear, of course. This one nearly made it to the 175,000-mile mark during its time on the road, which is respectable by the standards of 1980s Mazdas. With an automatic transmission transferring the 84 horses from its Mazda B6 engine to the front wheels, this car wouldn't have offered a great deal of driving excitement. 1989 Tracer buyers could choose between a two-door hatchback, a four-door hatchback, and a four-door wagon. Not many Americans hurried over to their local Mercury dealers to buy Tracers, despite the fact that the nearest Ford-badged identical twins were on the other side of the globe. Mercury still seemed relevant in the late 1980s, but its days were numbered. The actress driving the Tracer in this TV commercial seems to have the same deer-in-headlights facial expression of the hapless driver-training students in the 1968 AMC Rebel commercial.

Ringbrothers shows off Coyote-powered 1968 Mercury Cougar

Thu, Feb 25 2021

We'll openly admit that not every SEMA build is our cup of tea. But this? A tastefully resto-modded 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 460-horsepower Ford Mustang V8? Yeah, this is right in our wheelhouse. Sadly, there was no in-pwerson SEMA show in 2020, so we missed out on gems like this one. SEMA or no SEMA, the aftermarket carries on, and co-owners Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers (get it?) saw no reason to let their time and effort go to waste.  When they're not building wild customs (see: 1,100-horsepower 1972 AMC Javelin AMX) or more subtle showcases (such as this Cougar or their 1971 K5 Chevy Blazer build from 2018), the folks at Ringbrothers crank out factory reproduction parts, whether for old-fashioned restoration or modification purposes. While '60s muscle cars are recurring build subjects for the two, the Cougar was the first of its kind they tackled.  Keeping it in the family, Ringbrothers sourced a Ford 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 and a 10-Speed Automatic (lifted from an F-150 Raptor, incidentally) for the build. They didn't stop with the driveline, of course. The suspension was overhauled with a little help from DSE and a set of HRE Series C1 C103 Forged 3-Piece wheels were thrown over upgraded brakes.  "We put our heart into each car we build, and this Cougar is no exception," Jim said. "The finished product is mild and classy, yet any enthusiast instantly knows it's not stock. I imagine this is what Mercury designers would have come up with if they were building the Cougar today." "While we couldn't bring the car to the SEMA Show, we hope it can be shown to the public soon," Mike said. "We had never done a Cougar before, so this was a fun build. I love working with new shapes and coming up with new ideas." There's plenty to appreciate about this Cougar apart from the mechanicals, too. The finish is Augusta Green Metallic (courtesy of BASF), which was a factory color in 1968. You may know it by another name: Highland Green. There are a few custom exterior touches, but they're quite subtle and styled to be period-correct. The interior was also restored and updated, and it's where you'll find the only thing we're not fond of: that big, fat truck shifter. Gearbox choices notwithstanding, it's a bit of an eyesore. But considering how gorgeous the rest is, we'll give it a pass.  Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1979 Mercury Marquis 2-Door Sedan

Sun, Jul 25 2021

As the creator of the now-much-overused term "Malaise Era" (which I say started in 1973 and ended in 1983, full stop), I have a certain affection for the big two-door Detroit cars of the late 1970s. When such a car is built on the very first model year of Ford's long-lived Panther platform and I find one in a junkyard, I must document it. The 1979 Mercury Marquis is such a car, and this one was found in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service yard last month. Since Ford built the Grand Marquis all the way through the demise of the Panther platform— and Mercury itself— in 2011, it's easy for us to forget that the model name started out as just the plain old Marquis, back in the 1967 model year, with the Grand appellation used for the car's top trim level. While today's Junkyard Gem has some of the features of the Grand Marquis and Marquis Brougham trim levels for 1979 (notably the padded vinyl landau roof and power windows), it lacks the huge chrome lower-body moldings of those cars. Instead, it's a regular Marquis 2-door sedan with a big load of expensive options. That landau roof has suffered greatly from its decades beneath the vinyl-disintegrating California sun. The Panther platform was a big technological upgrade from the late-1950s-vintage chassis technology of full-sized Fords of the 1960s and 1970s, and it stayed in front-line service in much the same form through 2011. Though its ride and handling were much improved, the 1979 Marquis was quite a bit smaller than its predecessors, and that caused some grumbling among Mercury shoppers. Some ham-handed junkyard shoppers really tore up the interior of this car while extracting a few bits and pieces, but we can still admire the Pine Green pleather of the glorious Twin Comfort Lounge front seats. You had two engine choices when buying a new '79 Marquis: the base 302-cubic-inch (5.0-liter) Windsor V8 making 129 horsepower or the optional 351-cubic-inch (5.8-liter) Windsor V8 rated at 138 horsepower. This one appears to be the 351, the same engine as had been swapped into the pizza-delivery Mercury I drove in the middle 1980s. New cars sold in California around this time had these giant emissions-numbers stickers on the side glass. Later, they went on the underside of the hood.
