1967 Mercury Comet Base Sedan 4-door 4.7l on 2040-cars
Pullman, Washington, United States

I am selling my 1967 Mercury Comet. The Caliente is a so-called
intermediate-size Mercury and comes as a 4-door sedan. The engine is a
289 cu.in. V8 with 200hp.
Condition: The car has around 100.000 + 1800 miles (might change slightly until the end of the auction) on the odometer and is in decent condition. The color is robins's eggblue. The paint job is in good condition considering the age, but there are a couple of scratches and a few rust spots on the exterior (compare images). The car leaks tiny amounts of fluids every now and then, but nothing that ever needed to be fixed. I put on white-wall tires which are still under warranty for at least 3000+ miles. The car was already lowered when I bought it. The exhaust pipes have been adapted to this lowering kit and new rear shocks have been installed recently. The battery and the choke assembly have been replaced in July. After the winter the carburetor made problems, so I purchased a re-manufactured carburetor and replaced it also in July. The car starts and runs smoothly. As with most old cars with a carburetor, fine adjustments need to be done to adapt it to the time of the year. The interior is in nice condition and the black leather seats are barely scratched or ripped. There is a car stereo (hidden CD/radio with boxes in the front and back) - nothing fancy, but it works fine, even with the rumbling sound of the car in the background. The original radio is also operational, but was never used by me. The drivers' door window has trouble going up all the way without a small push and the window trim has seen better times. The car looks overall looks and drives nice for its age and is always a conversation starter wherever you go. History: I am aware of one pre-owner from whom I bought the car, but I do not have any additional information concerning the cars' history. Extras: I have an original registered owners' manual as well as a 1967 Mercury shop manual explaining every part of the car and its maintenance in great detail. There is also additional equipment, such as studded winter tires (back) and brand-new car jacks with extra stands. Payment/Warranty: You are welcome and encouraged to inspect and drive this vehicle before bidding. Please ask all of your questions before bidding. For any questions or additional information, please contact me and I will try to answer you as fast as possible. Payment by cashier check/cash, after an immediate PayPal deposit only. Payment in full due within 7 days of auction ending. The car will not be shipped or released until all funds (including cash) have cleared my PayPal/bank account. Please note: Vehicle is sold as-is. No warranty written or implied. No refunds. No International sales. Local buyers are preferred. Shipping: The buyer will be responsible for arranging the pick-up ad/or shipping of the vehicle. |

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.
The AM37 is literally the Aston Martin of boats
Wed, Sep 28 2016While sports car companies such as Porsche and Lamborghini are looking to SUVs to expand their offerings, Aston Martin has taken a page from Mercedes and designed a boat. Specifically, it's a 37-foot powerboat appropriately named the AM37. The boat was developed with help from Mulder Design and Quintessence Yachts, and is available in two different versions, both of which should the aquatic equivalent of Aston Martin performance. The standard AM37 is available with two different pairs of engines from Mercury, either 370-horsepower diesel engines or 450-horsepower gas engines. If that's not enough, Aston also offers the AM37S, which comes with a pair of 520-horsepower gasoline Mercury engines. Like road-going Astons, this boat is absolutely gorgeous. The lines are simple, crisp and clean. It features a beautiful wood deck, and an impressive double-curved, single-piece glass windshield. And if you get tired of the sun, the AM37 features a powered, carbon fiber bimini top. The interior completes the package with a carbon fiber dashboard, lots of leather and polished steering wheel, throttle and joystick. It's also incredibly well-equipped with seating for eight, air conditioning, mood lighting, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, a bed that folds out from the table, and even a bathroom. Aston Martin didn't release pricing or availability for the AM37. However, we suspect that if you really want this boat and have the means, pricing doesn't matter, and you're probably willing to wait. Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models
Fri, 30 Aug 2013The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
