This is a very nice and very original super solid low 35k mile ASC Mclaren convertible this one is #171 out of 245 ever produced! And,  is only 1 of 54 with this color combo. These are the same basic car as the Ford Mustang of this era. These cars are a nice rare collector and hard to find in this condition! She also has some nice upgrade options from ASC inc Recaro seats, air horn and more! Perfect blue cloth top and clear rear windows! 1986 was the last year for the Mercury Capri in the fox body platform this is a factory 5.0L Fuel injected machine! Cold ac, tilt/cruise, leather wrapped steering wheel, correct working electronic am/fm/cass radio, full power excellent documentation. This is a very nice car and has had years of excellent care it runs and drives spot on and new owner or collector will love her.  Get on the interstate and drive straight down the highway at 85 mph plus and her V8, 5.0 liter engine runs perfect and solid with an extremley smooth shifting transmission and 5.0 liter growl.  She is ready to drive and enjoy this car for many years.  Some new parts just this week include; new serpentine belt, new passenger window motor, new mastery cylinder, new front bow on top, very cold A/C and new latch motor for convertible top all safety features are perfect including new brakes and the seat belts are the full lap and shoulder belts not just the lap.  The tires have about 90% life left and the car runs straight and strong.  These engines are amazing and this has never been a main driver for any of its owners including me. It is one of the nicest Mclarens around and is fun to drive.   Any questions just ask, look at all pictures as they speak volumes about the condition of this car. Ford recalls 1.9m cars and crossovers for defective airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

The Basics: Ford is recalling a total of 1,898,728 vehicles to replace defective Takata front passenger-side airbags. This includes the 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. The Problem: The defective airbags have been linked to ruptures that can send metal fragments at the passenger, due to deteriorating propellant. Injuries/Deaths: Ford claims it's not aware of any injuries due to the problem, but rupturing Takata airbags have been linked to a series of serious injuries and deaths. The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag at no charge to the customer. If you own one: Look out for a letter from the manufacturer to arrange service at your local dealer. If you'd like to check if your vehicle is affected, click on the safety recalls link on Ford.com and enter your VIN. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Montego MX Brougham Sawzall Convertible Edition

Fri, Apr 21 2017

You know how it goes— the weather is warm, you want to do some top-down driving, and you lack a proper convertible... but you do have a hooptie Detroit car on one side of the garage and a big ol' Sawzall on the other. Put the two together and you have a Sawzall Convertible, which generally lasts for about one summer before it gets scrapped. Here's a fine example of such a car, photographed in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service junkyard. Most Sawzall Convertibles (yes, it should be called a roadster, but nobody does that) have raw, ragged metal edges, or maybe duct tape over the stumps of the amputated pillars, but someone went to the trouble to weld nice smooth metal covers over the hackage on this one. The windshield is gone. Instead, the windshield frame is ringed by tongue depressors held in place by gooey roofing tar. No, we don't know why. The Montego MX Brougham was a hot-selling personal luxury coupe in its day, selling for $3,041 in 1973. That's just under $17,000 in 2017 dollars. It must have been fun, cruising this thing on Bay Area streets with no roof and a rattle-can spray-bomb job. This one has the optional 400-cubic-inch V8 engine, rated at 171 horsepower. What would this car's original buyer have thought of its fate? This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7

Sun, 31 Jul 2011

You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.
Still, if you're willing to smell like a mountain man and look like a bad Back to the Future knockoff, this ride is right up your alley. Click past the jump to see Translogic's take on this modified Merc.
