2004 Mercury Marauder Base Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Augusta, Kansas, United States
2004 Mercury Marauder Trilogy Motorsports Supercharged. Here's your chance to own a fine example of a modern muscle car! A rare model to begin with, only sold for 2003-04 with around 2500 Marauders made in 2004. Then add the Trilogy Motorsports supercharger which only 250 were made. This car is kit # 166. The Mercury Marauder starts basically as a Police Interceptor undercarriage with the heavy duty brakes, suspension, transmission, and fluid coolers. Then add the 4V 4.6 liter Mustang engine from the Mach 1 Mustangs of the same year. Wrap all of that in a gorgeous black Mercury body and Voila! Modern Muscle at its finest. This one has been stored in a heated garage and taken out on weekend cruises and the occasional roadtrip. With less than 50,000 miles, that averages to 5,000 miles a year. Hardly high usage. This example has been adult owned and driven by a meticulous aircraft mechanic. Regular service and care was completed as needed. The interior is free of any major defects with no tears in the leather. Every switch functions as it should. There is an aftermarket Stereo unit with a Tom Tom GPS unit installed. The stock stereo will be included. Estimated around 450 horsepower to the rear wheels. Not super fast off of the line, but 40 to ??? acceleration is unbelievable. Looks so much like a police vehicle, it isn't uncommon to be mistaken for one. Fly under the radar. Will bring its new owner many years of hot rod enjoyment.
There are a few minor defects. You can refer to the pictures for a visual representation. There is a minor dent in the hood. Can be pushed out by a qualified dent removal shop. There are a couple of minor scratches on the paint with the worst on the right front fender. The right front wheel has slight curb rash. The front bumper cover has some paint "spiderwebbing" from a 10mph brush with a deer. The deer walked away! This incident did crack the front grill, so it was replaced. These are small issues that are hardly noticeable. The car looks great from 5 feet and is in great shape for being 10 yrs old. The tires are a little over 50% tread right now, but a full price offer will secure 4 new tires. Also comes with the special Mercury Marauder Black leather jacket in XL. No warranties are expressed or implied. Buyer to arrange and pay for shipping if needed, but I can assist your carrier. Or fly in and drive it away, I would not hesitate to jump in it right now and drive coast to coast. Cash or certified funds only. Just in time for Christmas! Don't let this one get away. |

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output
Mon, Jan 6 2014How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.
Auto Show Notebook: Legendary Continental name inspired Lincoln's designers
Thu, Apr 2 2015What's in a name? A lot for the Continental concept, and it gave Lincoln designers a sense of purpose as they styled the brand's upcoming flagship sedan. "The moment that we told them, it was amazing," Lincoln president Kumar Galhotra said. "They totally got it." "It" is cutting-edge technology wrapped in stately, large-sedan design. It's a nod to Lincoln's storied past, but a signpost for where the brand is heading. Though the Continental name dates to the late 1930s, Lincoln designers avoided making the concept overtly retro. "You can't let it pull yourself back too far in history, but you've got to design a car that lives up to the name," Galhotra said. Speaking to Autoblog on the floor of the New York Auto Show where the Continental formally debuted Wednesday, the Lincoln president reiterated that the car is on track to launch in 2016. It will compete against the Audi A6, Lexus GS, BMW 5 Series and other large luxury sedans. After its debut, the concept in New York will fly to China – another critical market for Lincoln – for display there. It will be replaced in New York by a prototype without an interior. The Continental is the latest high profile play by Lincoln to raise its image with consumers, who have either ignored or forgotten about it amid steep competition in the luxury sector from German and Japanese brands and a potentially resilient Cadillac. Lincoln sales are essentially flat compared with 2014 through the first quarter of this year, with total volume of 21,478 units. The middling start to 2015 comes on the heels of nearly 16-percent sales growth last year spurred by the launch of the MKC and the prominent signing of Matthew McConaughey to star in Lincoln advertisements. Other News, Notes & Quotes Speaking of names, Chevrolet did its homework before deciding to proceed with "Malibu" for its new generation of midsize cars. "We went out and researched it," said Alan Batey, president of General Motors North America. "People actually like the name 'Malibu,'" he said. Admittedly, the current Malibu has struggled in the marketplace against entrenched competitors, Batey said, but he's optimistic its awareness and historical value are assets to the dramatically redesigned sedan."The name's strong," he said. Meanwhile, in other Chevy news, the brand kicked off a new marketing campaign, "Real People, Not Actors" Wednesday. It will show consumers interacting with Chevys and their spontaneous reactions to the vehicles.
