Here is a Rare 4 door FASTBACK Hardtop  talk about eyeball it has it, every place I go it attracts  a crowd. I want to sell it only because  I have to many cars to move and the new Barn is smaller.  It has " Factory" A/C I believe this is a numbers matching car the Engine looks to all be original  by the amount of 50 yrs. of use dirt and crime. Car runs very well, I would not do nothing because of how well it runs, I rebuilt the Carb. and installed new fuel pump. they were not needed but it seem to have a fuel delivery problem . Once I found a pitched /gas line back by the fuel tank that was the real problem. that little hose was to long for the space and folded over. the gas tank had been replaced from sitting by previous owner and the hose with a little time just folded Why didn't I think of that so new tank, fuel pump and rebuilt Carb.Run's great now. The story is that two sisters owned this car from new and they both aged out died,  before the car did , lucky for us car collectors.  There are 2 dr. h/t's and breeze way hard tops but this is much rarer than any  other being a HARDTOP 4 dr. Fastback.  Always on collector Cars there are things over time that have to be attended to. This car is 50 yrs. old . I remember them new as I graduated from high school In 1963.   any Questions  please don't wait to ask as always the last couple of days it can be hard on a car like this. I' am personally cautious when I buy a colletor car so I trailer everything and drive on little short trips close to home. This car has a open Nebraska title that and bill of sale will be provided.   I also have another same yr. same body but Parklane in " Bittersweet with black interior " marauder.  This listed car is of coarse "as-is" no guarantee or warrantees , not responsible for omit ions. Must pay with-in 48 hrs. deposit through pay pal of non-refundable $500. cash when owner picks up or wire transfer, cashiers check on U.S. bank only  I have no problem with reporting non-payer buyers, please read directions   if you have less than 3 competed deals or member in the less than six months ,or non-pays you must contact me "FIRST",I well delete abuse users. For United States only-Purchasers  I might consider out of U.S. sale, you well have to contact me first , but you well have to pay and then wait a few weeks before I release it to a transport  the buyer is responsible for shipping in all cases.     This is a very nice collector car.  good luck on your bidding and Happy Holidays

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
