Versatility: -Cleans up nice- a respectable looking vehicle with good bones and great lines, feels current- As far as the upgrade possibilities- the customizations I've seen online are sharp and slick! This car can accept a Duratec DOHC V6 or V8 SHO Engine- now seen on ebay for Cheap! Some guy fitted his Sable with a 32 Valve V8 SHO Taurus Engine It can be a good project sled to upgrade and customize- I've sourced and priced parts for this car from various parts vendors, and, for example, a used or rebuilt V4, V6 or V8 engine can be had for not as much as you'd think (if that's ever needed) But it's also a good Family car that Seats Five, is Safe, and has Practical Features- It has Austere Good Looks, Subtly Sophisticated in Black and has Room for your Life
History: -This Beautiful Sable has been garaged at night it's entire life, save for vacations and whatnot The Interior of the car is Excellent. This was my Mom's car and she babied it I've only had it since 2010, and the owner before her only put 16,000 on it Regular maintenance has always been done, and we've kept all of the service records I keep oiling and washing it and giving it love, but it's really not in use It's only been sitting in my garage for several months. My Mechanic has told me the seals need to be replaced to get compression back. Repairs as follows can be made at intervals, to get the car up and running immediately. The main issue is to replace the seals and keep the Engine from sputtering.
The Bad (your bargaining chips): Known Issues: 1. -Two bits of Rust (One at the Trunk, near the chrome trim, and one at the crest of the wheel well on the driver's side rear wheel) 2. -Needs a General Electronic Module (GEM - part around $100-250, Labor ? -and, according to the instructions, pretty easy) The GEM controls the Stereo AM/FM Radio/CD Player, Clock, Speedometer and Odometer, which are currently not working because of it- I have stopped driving it for this reason (regarding odometer reading- the GEM will reveal true Mileage) - but the instruments technically work- it's simply the GEM that needs to be replaced* 3. -Cruise Control not engaging* 4. -One Rear Window not opening* Rear Window Motor or some other issue may exist (unknown) The rest of the windows work fine *(*asterik indicates these may be GEM issues, and might be restored after GEM is functioning {unknown}) 5. -Down the road, the front Brakes may need updating, and the drums are ugly, but functioning 6. -The compression is bad, needs Seals replaced, but it seems the engine is otherwise o.k., low miles
7. -Keep in mind this car isn't running right now, I've detached the battery! -------> Arrange for Towing to your home or garage, OR maybe I can give you a free one way tow with my Auto Club to within 50 miles of the 91205 Zip Code. - The insurance is still current and will be until the completion of sale. This is NOT a DMV Non-Operational, and has not been registered as such, as of
yet. The tags are good until April 2014. This is a functional vehicle that needs someone to invest a little green for a lot of car in return.
Let's Deal!
This has been an exceptional car We love the Sable, and All Ford Family Cars (we have another Ford), Its just that we can get by without a second car It's a luxurious vehicle with a smooth, quiet ride and decent gas mileage, especially on the highway It's a solid piece of American Steel and is safe and practical It cleans up nice and has a nice get up and go on the freeway It's in the garage and will remain there until the right buyer comes along We're not desperate to sell, but we are open to offers, but no low-ballers, please Make a reasonable offer and we'll let it go for the right buyer

Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been
Fri, Oct 30 2015A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO Β so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 Β barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong Β new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.
New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 Β also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past Β to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
