2005 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER

Very nice SUV for the money.  I purchased this vehicle from Las Vegas here about a year ago for my wife.  She absolutely loved the vehicle but after having another baby boy we decided to go with something a little bigger.  This rig has dual heated leather seats,  a sunroof, power everything, a third row seat that will fold down if you need to take extra kids with you, and rear heat and air.  This rig is completely loaded.  It was serviced as needed since the day it was new with synthetic 5w30 oil and runs like a top.  It only has about 62000 miles on it and really has a lot of life left in it.  it will use about a quart of oil in between oil changes which i really like to see so you know oil is getting to the rings.  There is no blow by, the engine is rock solid and the 4.0 is a very reliable motor to begin with.  The only detraction from the rig is it has the usual city door dings down both sides.  The tires I would call 50%, the brakes are excellent and stops the vehicle nice and straight without any hop or pull to one side.  it is just a very nice vehicle with no known mechanical problems.  We did have it on some ice on the way back from phoenix to see the folks from about Santa Fe, NM to Downs, KS and although it would have been better not to drive on slick road the vehicle handled it very well. I am going to start the auction pretty low with a very resonable reserve.  If you have any questions call 402-984-2317.  You will no be disappointed in this vehicle. Very nice for the money, just need to get rid of some vehicles to make room in the shop.

Junkyard Gem: 1996 Nissan Quest XE with 338,549 miles

Sun, Jul 9 2023

When I hit the junkyard, I always look for vehicles with impressive final figures showing on their odometers. I find so many Hondas and Toyotas with better than 300,000 miles that I don't consider them especially noteworthy (the exception being super-low-spec cheap models, such as a Tercel or Civic VX), and it goes without saying that the bar is quite high for Mercedes-Benzes as well. It has been surprisingly difficult to find discarded Nissans that made it past the 300k mark; today's Junkyard Gem is just the fourth I've documented. The highest-mile junked Nissan I'd found prior to today's minivan is a 1994 Maxima with 364,238 miles, followed by a 1987 Maxima with 341,176 miles and a 1986 200SX with 309,222 miles. Keep in mind that Nissan didn't go to six-digit odometers on most of its US-market cars until the early 1980s, and then went to tough-to-read-in-the-junkyard electronic odometers in the early 2000s; this means the pool of potential high-mile Nissans is limited to about the 1983-2000 range of model years. Ford has just as much right to claim credit to this van's impressive mile total as does Nissan, since the Quest was a collaboration between Ford and Nissan that also produced the Mercury Villager; this van was built by Ford at the Ohio Assembly plant. The Quest/Villager platform was derived from the Maxima's, and the engine is pure Nissan: a 3.0-liter VG30 V6 rated at 151 horsepower. The only transmission available in the first-generation (1993-1999) Quest/Villager was a four-speed automatic. This one appears to have been sold new at Landrum Nissan in Pueblo. The rear glass has been painted flat black, possibly to keep prying eyes from seeing valuable cargo. The rear seats are long gone, so this van probably hauled cargo for much of its long life. The front interior seems to be in good shape. Why is this van here? There's body damage on the left rear and right front, suggesting a crash that may have bent the suspension past the worth-fixing threshold. Perhaps the crinkled metal just made this van too unsightly, or maybe some powertrain problem was the culprit. This content is hosted by a third party. This Mercury Cyclone is an American Muscle Car in Norway

Tue, Oct 27 2015

The picturesque Norwegian countryside certainly doesn't seem like the natural stomping grounds for a 1969 Mercury Cyclone, but owner Alexander Brevik makes the odd combo look like an ideal match. Even with the beautiful surroundings, Brevik sees no need to enjoy the scenery; he'd much rather just be driving this vintage muscle car. Take a ride with him in the latest clip from Petrolicious. Like many of us, Brevik's automotive obsession started at childhood, and today he has amassed a multitude of projects to wrench on. While he loves working on all of these cars, we all need a break sometimes, and that's what the Cyclone is for. Even when the rest of his collection isn't running, this orange beauty is always ready to go. Brevik may not pay much attention to the landscape, but Petrolicious makes the muscle car look fantastic in the Norwegian woods nonetheless. With its rumbling V8 engine and three-speed manual, this Cyclone turns out to be a perfect cruising companion in the Land of the Midnight Sun. And if you just can't get enough of classic muscle cars and the people who love them, check out our video coverage of the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit down below. Related Video:

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
