HERE I HAVE AT NO RESERVE THIS 2002 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER 4.6 V8 AWD. CLEAN NY STATE TITLE AND EXCELLENT CARFAX 1 OWNER RECORD. 153K ORIGINAL MILES. EXTERIOR IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH SOME MINOR DENTS AND SCRATCHES (A LITTLE DIRTY, BUT LOOK AT PICTURES FOR MORE DETAILS). INTERIOR IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY DRIVE SEAT SHOWING SOME WEAR. POWER MIRRORS, POWER WINDOWS AND SUNROOF. RADIO AND SPEAKERS WORK. I PURCHASED THIS SUV BACK IN JANUARY FROM AN AUCTION. WHEN I RECEIVED IT, IT WOULDN'T START DUE TO STARTER BEING BAD. I REPLACED THE STARTER AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. ENGINE RAN SMOOTH. TRANSMISSION SHIFTED GOOD THRU ALL GEARS. NO LEAKS. THE REASON I'M USING PAST TENSE IS BECAUSE THE SUV HAD AN AFTERMARKET ALARM, WHICH A FRIEND DECIDED TO REMOVE AND LEAVE IT WITH THE FACTORY ALARM. WHEN THE AFTERMARKET ALARM WAS REMOVED, THE SUV NEVER STARTED AGAIN. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND TALKING TO A COUPLE OF MECHANICS, IT SEEMS THAT THE FACTORY ALARM ITS NOT ALLOWING THE SUV TO START. I ALWAYS SAY THAT I'M GOING TO GET AROUND TO FIXING IT, BUT 3 MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND I HAVEN'T TOUCHED IT. THIS IS PROBABLY SOMETHING EASY TO FIX, BUT I HAVE NO TIME FOR IT, SO MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN. THERE IS OVER $2K BEWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES, THERE ARE SOME SMALL IMPERFECTIONS ON THE REAR QUARTER PANELS. RL HAS SOME DENTS AND SCRATCHES AND RR HAS SOME MINOR RUST. THE LOWER FRONT RIGHT BUMPER HAS DENT. THESE ARE THE ONLY BODY DAMAGES THAT THE SUV HAS. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS PRETTY CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION. FRONT LEFT TIRE IS DEFLATED FROM SITTING FOR ALL THIS TIME, BUT DOES HOLD AIR. I TRY TO DESCRIBE AND INFORM AS MUCH AS I KNOW ABOUT MY ITEMS INTO MY LISTINGS. BUT IF YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC QUESTION, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.
GOOD LUCK!
SERIOUS BIDDERS PLEASE!!!
All vehicles are sold "as-is" and without warranty. In the event vehicles have factory warranty remaining, it will be stated in the description. Kit Cat: Mercury Cougar makes perfect Bugatti Veyron substitute
Thu, 24 Feb 2011Bugatti Veyron kit car - Click above for high-res image gallery
If you've got a pulse in your wrist and a snapping brain cell in your head, chances are you wouldn't mind parking a Bugatti Veyron in your garage. But for most mere mortals, scrounging up the cash for a physics-bending piece of 16-cylinder glory would require all sorts of unpalatable tasks. Fortunately for those who want to look the part without having to participate in human trafficking, the kit car universe has stepped in to save the day. All you need is a 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar, a boat load of fiberglass and a little patience.
Oh, and $89,000.
Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion
Wed, Jun 17 2015While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.
Has the Mercury Marauder gotten better with age?
Fri, Oct 23 2015In the early 2000s Mercury desperately wanted to develop some edge for its brand – seemingly stuck between a quasi-premium, quasi-performance space in the Ford Universe. The Marauder is perhaps the most famous of the vehicles that resulted from those efforts, and is rapidly approaching Modern Classic status, today. Effectively a murdered out Grand Marquis with some updated trim pieces – what are company parts bins for, if not raiding? – the Marauder looked convincingly like a bad guy car. The 4.6-liter V8 under its hood that had been breathed on by engineers for a little more power, kicking out 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque from the factory. Not exactly Ferrari-baiting numbers, but it'd give your local cop's car a run for its money. Being a wild child of the last decade, of course our friends at MotorWeek had it on the program. What better way to test your mean-mugging muscle sedan than with John Davis' tanned and steady hands?
