1967 Mercury Monterey I have up for sale my 67 Mercury Monterey 2 door hardtop. It is a nice rust free Blvd. cruiser from dry west Texas. The odometer shows 26,999. It works, but I'm sure it has been around. It is not a show car but it is a nice driver that will turn heads. I have a clear Texas title in my name. First, the bad: It has a nice driver quality paint with a few blemishes. I would call it an 8 out of 10; The original upholstry has 2 small tears in the driver seat about 1 inch long; the dash is cracked, but has a cover; tach does not work; ash tray is missing; needs new rear tires. Now, the good: Nice driver quality paint; new headliner, new carpet, original seat and door upholstry very nice; all gauges work; freshly built 390 bored .030 with all new internals, mild cam, edelbrock aluminum intake and 4 bbl. carb and I have receipts; Freshly overhauled C6 auto with new 1800 stall converter (also have receipts); 17 inch Cobra wheels. Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes
Mon, 18 Jul 2011Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
