I have my 1955 Mercury Monetery forsale. This car is all original with original 292ci "y-8" engine and merc-o-matic 3 speed automatic transmission. It's a great car, could be used for daily driving or could be restored to showroom standards. Previous owner has done lots of work to the vehicle making it a great car. I have all records of what has been done to it, well over 10K in restoration costs. The engine is its original 292 motor with brand new Holley 4-barrel carb on it. The motor was completely disassembled and rebuilt in 2003 at 127,000 miles, it has 138,000 now. Engine was rebuilt by a shop here in Jacksonville. Runs pretty well, its quiet with no abnormal sounds from engine and runs strong. Previous owner installed an alternator in place of the generator, the old generator will be included with the vehicle.  The transmission was also rebuilt in 2003 here in Jacksonville florida. This was done at 127,000 shortly after engine was rebuilt. Transmission shifts great and has no fluid leaks.  The interior was re-done in 2001, new seat covers, door panels, headliner, and carpet. Seats and head liner look great with no flaws at all, the carpet has faded a bit but nothing torn or missing.  The car has 4 wheel drum brakes, power steering, aftermarket ac(needs a charge), the blower blows on all speeds and the compressor clutch engages, just needs a vacuum and re-charge and should blow cold. Two years ago a new rebuilt hydraulic ram was installed for the power steering.  Considering the car is original and 60 years old the body is in good condition with no major rust. The frame and the floor pans are solid. Some rust bubbles behind the wheels and some bubbles around the trim on the roof. All structure points on the car are solid. The trunk floor is solid, no rust. Some of the chrome trim has pitted over the years as well  Car is sold as-is with no warranty.  Need a depsosit of 500.00 within 24 hours of winning the auction and car needs to be paid in full within 5 days of auction.  Please contact me with any questions, i will aid in helping the buying with shipping if need be.  Thanks photo IMG_2849_zps77992889.jpg photo IMG_2850_zps769e5ec5.jpg photo IMG_2852_zps37b3159a.jpg photo IMG_2767_zps1afebcb8.jpg photo IMG_2856_zpsc624a758.jpg photo IMG_2855_zps4741fba5.jpg photo IMG_2856_zpsc624a758.jpg photo IMG_2858_zps5f7af6a1.jpg photo IMG_2861_zps310afefc.jpg photo IMG_2863_zps2025c427.jpg photo IMG_2862_zps129e7e2b.jpg photo IMG_2864_zps4ff4c5d9.jpg photo IMG_2778_zps0d296ed9.jpg photo IMG_2859_zps17f60943.jpg photo IMG_2865_zpsbe3837c4.jpg photo IMG_2866_zps94703b0f.jpg photo IMG_2869_zps47904910.jpg photo IMG_2867_zps9521c526.jpg photo IMG_2868_zps6e117f69.jpg photo IMG_2870_zps3fbaa116.jpg

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.

Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
