THIS CAR WAS SOLD !!! Had a legitimate bid then in the last few minutes a brand new account Liza93 outbid buyer. Story was the person was oceanographer and at sea and wanted to send me an additional $1,000 to wire to the shipper. I checked Scamdex and this person uses this name often and basically the same story.

This is my time listing this car, after 3 listings and loosing a real buyer due to a scam buyer I am done after this.
I am now offering this car for as little as 1,200.00 and I paid over $400 just for the tires. If it doesn't go this time it goes to storage.

So here we go again !! And I will not accept bids from new eBay accounts with a zero rating unless you contact me first.

1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 Special Edition, Mercury Teal with Gray leather interior.
Power Windows, Power Seats, Power Locks, Power Sunroof.
2 Door V6 Coupe, Cougar Aluminum Wheels with Cougar Center.
Bought 4 new tires from Sears, New Battery, everything else seems to work just fine. Stereo has a mind of its own sometimes it shuts off then turns back on but only on radio setting, CD works fine all the time.
Car has no body damage does have a little surface rust and paint fade. Surface rust spots popped up in areas where paint faded a lot and living on an island at the ocean turns it fast, but as you will see in pics it's not bad.
I bought the car for my son who will be licensed soon and we were going to have it repainted. It's too much car in size and power for him, plus with the small back windows it has visibility issues for a new driver. I paid 2,600.00 for the car and now that he will be driving a smaller Cobalt I need to make room as we live in a condo with restricted number of parking spots.
I am starting the car out at an unbelievable $1,600.00 and a buy it now of $2,000.00 this car has been recently driven to Pennsylvania and back to North Carolina so there is no issue with picking it up and driving it anywhere. Depending on where it's going and for a reasonable cost we will drive it to you. Car must be paid in full before it leaves, I will overnight title if needed. This car is an up coming classic and will make a nice future hot rod. Email me with any questions, I will answer or find the answer for you.
Thanks for looking

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible

Wed, 31 Aug 2011

Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
