MARTI REPORT IS SHOWN BELOW, AND ALSO THE BOOK VALUE.  I'M SELLING IT WAY UNDER BOOK VALUE.  I'VE OWNED DOZENS OF CLASSIC CARS IN MY DAY.  I KNOW WHAT THEY SELL FOR AND I KNOW WHAT THEY'RE WORTH, BOOK VALUE OR NOT...

WITH THAT SAID, PLEASE NOTE, THAT THE LISTING PRICE IS JUST THE LISTING PRICE- I DO HAVE A RESERVE ON THIS CAR THAT IS NOT FAR FROM THE LISTING PRICE, BUT I DEFINITELY INTEND ON WALKING AWAY WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT BEFORE THE EBAY MAFIA DIGS INTO MY POCKET OFF THIS SALE... SO, IF YOU ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED, PLEASE SPEAK UP, BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO SELL THIS CAR THIS WEEK, TO SOMEONE REASONABLE AND INTELLIGENT.  IF YOU'RE A LOW-BALL MORON WITH NO BRAINS, COMMON SENSE, OR TACT, PLEASE STOP READING, I'M NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING YOU MY CAR.  I CAN GIVE YOU ANOTHER ONE FOR 1800, THAT YOU CAN PLAY WITH ON WEEKENDS.  THIS ONE, YOU PUT THE KEY IN AND DRIVE ANYWHERE IN THE U.S. THE VIDEO BELOW WILL PROVE THAT, SO IT WILL NOT LEAVE MY HANDS FOR LESS THAN 8500.00 UNLESS YOU MANAGE TO CONVINCE ME WITH A GOOD STORY OF WHY I SHOULD SHAVE OFF A FEW BUCKS.  IM AN INTELLIGENT, VERY SUCCESSFUL YOUNG ADULT MALE.  I'M DEFINITELY NOT STRUGGLING FOR THE CASH, MY CHECKING ACOUNT THAT I USE EVERY DAY HAS 3X THE LISTING PRICE IN IT, ON A MONTHLY BASIS.  I DON'T NEED THE MONEY AT ALL, I'M SELLING IT FOR THE ROOM IN MY LIFE THAT I NEED TO MAKE FOR SOMETHING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT. I CAN LIVE WITHOUT THIS CAR RIGHT NOW.

This is an ORIGINAL Authentic SACRAMENTO California Car with A CLEAN TITLE, and the original Ford Auto Works Marti Report, confirming the rarity of this particular car. That interior for instance, is possibly the ONLY documented ORIGINAL leather interior that came with the car, and it is nearly intact, and would probably cost well into the thousands to try and replicate - IF that is, you can find CONVERTIBLE seating frames somewhere.

The interior for these cars is IMPOSSIBLE to find, and this one you will not find in another car. The Marti report confirms that this is the actual interior that came with this car. I will include a photo of this, and also video clip of ANOTHER car, of this same exact make, that exists somewhere.

  • THIS CAR HAS POWER EVERYTHING: POWER WINDOWS, POWER TOP, EVEN POWER DRIVER'S SEAT ADJUSTMENT- THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS POWER OPERATED, AND IT WORKS.
  • FMX Automatic factory transmission 351 Cleveland 2v. 76373 ORIGINAL MILES. There IS very small areas of rust on the steel floor, but it CAN be cleaned up. See photos below, but please read this WHOLE ad, everything is stated here. It's as good as being in front of the car.
Along with the Marti report, I have the original CA title to the car, it is currently registered, insured, indoor garaged, and I drive it often. Most of the receipts of work, repair, or upgrades done to this car are in my possession. I have owned the car for just about 11 years
The following are additions/upgrades I have made on the car:
* Power Top Motor
* New white vinyl top with GLASS window (replaced several years ago)
* Flowmaster "Delta Flow" series dual exhaust muffler and pipes
* Ford Motorcraft aftermarket 2v carburetor
* New alternator
* ALL belts: (done this summer)
* Radiator
* Power steering gear box
* Power steering reservoir (TWICE)
* SHOCKS (done this Oct 2013) Monroe air shocks (rear) KYB Excel-G shocks (front) -shown in photos and VIDEO clip-
* BRAKES (front AND rears, pads AND rotors - ceramic street race kit)
* Ignition coil
* LEAF SPRINGS (this is a VERY costly and LABORIOUS repair!)
* Ignition
* New radio and interior color code matching speakers (radio is a few years old, but is ipod and satellite radio equipped)
* "Bullet-style" door locks
* New windshield wipers
* New windshield washer box
* New fuel line hoses
* The tires are new, but there is wear to the sidewalls of the rear tires.
* New 800cca performance battery
* New rear view mirror
* Replacement Ford "houndstooth" pattern trunk mat
* Recent tune up
* There was 1700.00 worth of front end work, and more additions I can't think of at the moment.
* Oil Change JUNE 2 2014
* STEAM CLEAN PROCESS BEGUN JUNE 2 2014

Nearly EVERYTHING on this car is new, except for the engine itself, the carpet and the steel floors of the car. Some things I left as is, as it came with the car. I haven't gone too crazy under the hood, except for maintenance as needed, so all of the engine components like the air cleaner, valve covers, etc, I haven't done up all pretty. They're the stock ones that came with the car for the most part.

It is a turn-key daily driver, that looks like it could be in a car show from 15 feet away EASILY when the top is down.  The pictures will show that. This car has been featured by well known musicians in several music videos for its stylish appearance and uniqueness. It's definitely a celebrity looking car.  I

I have provided a 45 (yes FORTY FIVE) minute video of the car's performance, from the point I open the door, turn the ignition, and drive out of a garage in Westchester, and park outside of a gallery in Chelsea Manhattan to go around the car and show you the outside of the car. The video clip is a simulated ride of how the car performs: no strange noises, (JUST MOTOR and EXHAUST!), no overheating, or warning signals, no stalling. I would watch ALL of the 45 minute video. The camera is on the gauges the entire time, except for when I show the convertible power top coming down with no problem. At the end, I show the newly installed shocks and the exhaust purring. So, if you would like proof in advance of how this car runs, and that it WORKS, you have about 45 minutes of footage, and the Youtube info shows you WHEN it was uploaded. It has not been driven much since then.

I am the third owner of this car. . . This car has been PAMPERED, garaged indoors for seven years, and "toured" all over New York City. It has been driven from San Francisco, where it was bought, to Los Angeles, trailored from Los Angeles to New York City, driven up and down the North East coast with NO PROBLEMS.  It has NEVER broken down on me.  That interior is almost in mint condition, with exception to the drivers seat, because I drive the car alot, but never carry passengers.

There are a few areas of cosmetic imperfection, and there is a small area in the rear floor that needs patching up, to make the car floors 100% defect-free. The carpet is worn down, and is probably not the original, but it's the one that came with the car when I bought it. The paint is also not original. It was painted over, before I owned it, and the ORIGINAL color is shown, in the photos with the interior, taken at night.

It was painted midnight blue, to match the famous color code of the Ford Mustangs that were made in this color code (dark blue with baby blue and white seating etc). There IS rust in the trunk but no holes rotted through. I have added pictures of this.

THINGS THAT DO NOT WORK:
*The driver's side seat belt gets stuck every now and then, I accidentally busted the housing of it.
*The center console lid is off.
*The AC/Heat system needs Fre-On. It has not been used since I bought the car in California (didn't need the AC there OR the heat).
*The oil gauge and the "amps" gauge does not work.
*The small two rear quarter windows do not roll down. (Those use a motor different from the mail power window motor and they are IMPOSSIBLE to find.)
*The cigarette lighter doesn't work.
*The hazard lights need to be changed.
These are VERY minor things that don't interfere with the performance of the car, and it still turns heads no matter what.

If you would like to make an appointment to see the car, please leave all your info and I can bring the car to you at some point. It drives like a dream. I really suggest you look at this video below:

Below, is another example of my exact car, in the original color code the one I'm selling was painted over in. These color codes DO exist, despite people thinking this is a "custom" interior job- NO. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR AND THEREFORE VALUABLE AND RARE. This car is worth ALOT of money. MARTI REPORT SAYS ONE OUT OF 176. One out of TWO that I've seen in existence. Here is the second one:

(that second one, in the youtube video above is NOT available though. It is LONG gone. Don't miss out on THIS one).

Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan

Sat, Sep 10 2022

When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.

Ford recalls 600,000 older-model sedans for braking issue

Fri, Dec 20 2019

Ford is recalling 600,166 older-model Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles over an issue that could affect braking and increase the risk of a crash. The safety recall covers certain Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ sedans from the 2006 through 2010 model years that were built at Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico between Feb. 22, 2006, and July 15, 2009. Ford says a valve that is normally closed inside the hydraulic control unit may get stuck in the open position or be slow to close, which could make it harder to engage the brakes and increase risk of a crash. Ford says itÂ’s aware of 15 reports of accidents and two injuries possibly related to the issue. Dealers will inspect the hydraulic control unit for signs of the problem and replace it, if necessary. The dealers will pressure-flush the system with brake fluid and replace the reservoir cap with a new one. Ford is also issuing a small recall of 33 of its 2020 F-150 trucks in the U.S. and 51 in Canada over potentially damaged spare tires. It says the bead area on the tires may have been damaged when it was mounted onto the wheel assembly, leaving it vulnerable to corrosion, separation of the bead wire and ultimately a rapid loss of air pressure and detachment from the wheel. Dealers will replace the spare tire. Affected vehicles were built at the Dearborn Truck Plant from Nov. 10-21 of this year.

Watch as an out-of-control car demolishes gas pump

Tue, May 2 2017

A Baltimore area man was fighting for his life Tuesday after crashing his car into a gas station. According to WBAL, the unidentified 64-year-old lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons around 4:55 a.m. May 1 in Parkville, Md. The 2007 Mercury Milan careened downhill, ramped over a curb, and smashed full-speed into a gas station pump. The car then flipped and came to rest against one of the station's canopy support pillars. Don Karbowniczek, owner of a service station across the street, told WBAL he was shocked there wasn't more damage. It's also surprising that the car even made it to the pumps, as it had to thread past a coin-op vacuum machine, the station's sign, a utility pole, and a traffic light pole. "It came right through, took some of our bushes out, just trimmed them for us, and how it got through and flip the way it did, I don't know. From what I see on the marks, it had to go airborne and just come down on the pump," Karbowniczek said. Thankfully there was no fire or explosion. Gas pumps have shear valves - safety devices that immediately cut the flow of gasoline when a pump is damaged. The driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was in critical condition. Police theorized the driver may have become stricken with a health issue when he lost control.
