1964 Mercury Comet, V8, Manual Trans, Runs Great, Possible Ratrod, Cheap Project on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
Up for auction is a running and driving 1964 Mercury Comet, that originally had a 260 but, now has a great running 302. The trans is a " 3 on the Tree " manual transmission that shifts great. The car was an AC car originally but, most of the components have been removed. The car is very straight with just a few dents. The windows roll up and down great, the lights, blinkers, brake lights all work too. The car has no rust on the body anywhere but, the drivers floor and the passenger floor have two patches in them. The rear floors look great, under the hood looks great, trunk looks great, as my guess was a leaking heater core in the past. The doors open and shut great, and the car drives down the road nice and straight and the manual brakes are adjusted perfect and do not pull to either side. The car has the Ford 5 lug pattern, as it was originally a V8, 260. The car has tons of parts that would transfer over to a 1964 Comet 2 door, or you can drive it as she its. The engine is a 302, topped of with a Edelbrock Intake, and a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb. The car sat for a few years so, I do not suggest driving the car any long distances back home to be safe. She runs at 60 PSI of oil pressure after she warms up and right about 180 degrees but, I have only had her on a few mile trip. The pictures cover the car pretty well, and what it comes down to is.... the car will be sold to the highest bidder!!! I do have a clean title in MY name for the car also. The windshield is cracked but, the rest of the glass is good, and it's all Carlite glass besides the windshield of the car. I do not have any spare parts for the car, as what you see is what you get. The fuel tank was in great shape, as I flushed the tank, cleaned out the lines so, she is ready to cruise around. It can be a donor car, or a cheap car that you don't have to smog! The original seatbelts are still in the car also. Good Luck The car is a PROJECT type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 3 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with Paypal, a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!! |

Ford Announces Free Brake-Pad Offer If Customers Stop By Dealers
Mon, Aug 4 2014These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. "We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts. Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1. "This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, President of Ford Customer Service, in the company's announcement of the offer. eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible
Wed, 31 Aug 2011Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.
