Hello eBayers, thank you for visiting! For Sale is my treasured 1986 Mercedes Benz 280GE Gwagon! This 28 year old SUV has had many recent repairs and passed rigid CA smog on April 2nd, 2014 to get ready for auction!
VIN: WDB46023317046361 (eBay system does not allow me to enter it in normal field) Mileage: 103,920 (As of May 1, 2014) Automatic trans, power windows (all new motors & switches), power locks, air conditioning, Clifford alarm, Pioneer Premier CD player w detachable face, additional speaker amp, Alpine speakers, Boze custom 20" wheels with Goodyear P275/45R20 tires. Pros: CA registration is good until end of Feb 2015, passed CA emissions Apr 2, 2014. All 4 power window motors & switches replaced (Apr 14th). Brand new tie rod/steering damper/drag link, dropped the fuel tank for inspection and also repair of fuel gauge, rebuilt power steering + new seals, (Mar 24th). Completely removed and rehabbed radiator, new freeze plug/gasket, new exhaust manifold gasket, new thermo kit, (Nov 12th, 2013). Service records paperwork/receipts are included since 2008. Cons: Clear coat is peeling off hood and left rear window panel, turn signal lever sticks when left blinker activated, small plastic dash panel to immediate left of steering column is broken (valet tried to steal alarm system mic), passenger side rear seat storage net needs screws, rear passenger side small vertical trim plastic has 2 of 4 posts (4 new gaskets are included), top blinkers vibrate at high speeds, a new-in-box set of blinkers is included. 2in seam opening on drivers seat, random small stains on seats, 2 cracks on top side of cushioned dashboard near passenger OS handle. General wear and tear throughout of a 28yr old SUV. Comments: PAINT- I was going to paint it, but chances of getting the exact color the next owner wants are slim. I could have it painted and add thousands to the reserve. WHEELS & TIRES: I was going to buy more standard rims, but chances of getting the exact size and design the next owner wants are slim. I could mount wheels and tires and add thousands to the reserve. History: Europa International in Santa Fe did all the US importing and conversions on these classic trucks. This was/is my dream car, bought from Keiser Motors for $27,073 ($24,980 + tax/fees) in San Francisco (Campbell) on 7/20/2002 with 79,143 miles on it. I promptly drove back to Los Angeles, and that's the farthest I've ever driven her, she's remained in LA county ever since. Extras I added: I spent $649.51 on the Clifford Concept 100 alarm (installed by Al & Ed's West Hollywood 7/23/2002), had custom Boze rims made in "black chrome" for $5000+, had the Pioneer CD player system installed for $1000+. Includes service records and other paperwork, original bill of sale, clear Title, Europa Intl info packet, key, alarm keychain fob, extra window switches, extra brake pads, any other additional parts I find. Buyer is responsible for all pick up / transfer / delivery of the vehicle after purchase. I will be adding more info, history and photos as we go, looking forward to finding a new home for this great truck, thanks! |

2017 Infiniti QX30 First Drive
Mon, Jul 18 2016If you've heard anything before about this car, the 2017 Infiniti QX30, it probably has to do with its corporate parents, an odd couple if there ever was one. Renault-Nissan, Infiniti's corporate overlords, inked a deal with Mercedes-Benz to share some mechanical components and platforms. That deal put a new, very modern 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four under the hood of the Q50 and was the genesis of what you're looking at here. What are you looking at here? We drove this car in 2015, when it was called a Q30 – originally it was going to be the lower-riding counterpart to the slightly jacked-up QX30. Then Infiniti decided it'd make more sense to sell all variants of this vehicle as CUVs in the US, so we have three slightly different flavors of the QX30 instead. There's the normal version; the Sport, which is 0.6 inches lower; and the AWD, which is 1.2 inches higher. Infiniti brought us to Seattle to sample the Sport and AWD flavors on a semi-circumnavigation of the Puget Sound. It didn't rain a drop, thanks for asking, and instead was sunny and mild the whole time. It's easy to make the QX30 sound more confusing than it actually is. This is essentially a Mercedes-Benz GLA250 with full exterior styling and partial interior design by Infiniti, built in the UK alongside several other Nissans. The powertrain and chassis, including the optional AWD system, were all "co-developed" with partner Daimler, with final calibration and tuning by Infiniti engineers. Here's another way of explaining it: Infiniti needs an entry-level car to appeal to new premium car shoppers, and the QX30 is the prescription. It's a hatchback that's been given the mildest of CUV treatments and a lot of marketing descriptors. That's because hatchbacks are sales death in America. In Europe, they'll see right through the CUV posturing and realize it's just a hatchback offered in three different suspension heights. Whatever you call it to make it palatable to Americans, it's a useful little vehicle. This car is mechanically identical to the Q30, so there are some things we can gloss over. Both are powered by a transverse-mounted 2.0-liter Mercedes inline-four. It's a turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engine, and it sure feels like one. It sounds like a rock tumbler full of nickels and runs out of breath at about 5,000 rpm. All versions make 208 hp at 5,500 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque between 1,200 and 4,400 rpm – more than adequate but less than thrilling.
Best car infotainment systems of 2022
Wed, Jul 20 2022Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried them all what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. Some prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based with a simplistic user interface. Others may prefer a non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some folks prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best overall: UConnect — Various Stellantis products If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. Both UConnect 4 and the latest UConnect 5 software are included in this praise, too. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu. We like the radio/media interface — itÂ’s super easy to swap stations or sources. The menu structure is easy to grasp, and of course both Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are available if you want them. UConnect 5 is a big visual improvement over UConnect 4, but thankfully it retains the same ease of use as the outgoing system. WeÂ’ll also point out that Stellantis is able to adapt UConnect to different screen shapes and sizes with great success — it works stunningly well in the vertical 12-inch screen of the Ram.
Here's what Jay Leno will be working on in 2016
Tue, Dec 29 2015Jay Leno always has a project or five underway in his garage, and since 2015 is practically over, his latest video offers a glimpse at some of the amazing vehicles we might see his team complete in the coming year. Leno's crew certainly has a lot to do next year. Leno's most impressive current undertaking is an effort to modernize a 1914 Detroit Electric with about ten times its original power output. He showed off the vintage EV as just a shell in his last tour of the garage, but his team has now recreated the wood body. They also started the project's bigger challenge of installing a new electric motor and lithium-ion batteries from a Nissan Leaf. If EVs don't interest you, Leno has plenty of other irons in the fire, too. There's a 1971 Porsche 911 that's under restoration to turn it into a solid driver and several motorcycles in various states of repair. Leno even welcomes viewers into his dyno room to check out the work on the Chrysler V8 for his Cunningham. The results of this wrenching and welding on these projects should make for even more compelling videos in 2016.
