The condition of this car is to be considered to be excellent. There is minor "road rash" on the front bumper paint, and minor pitting of the windshield. This is consistent with the mileage driven. This car was introduced by Mercedes Benz late in the 2003 model year.The CLK55 AMG is powered by a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V-8 with 362 horsepower, and 376 pound-feet of torque. The engine is hand-built. The five-speed automatic is reinforced and features AMG's Speedshift programming. Sport and comfort modes adapt shift points and firmness to differing driving styles. A button shifts to the manumatic mode, and the driver can control shifts via the lever or via buttons on the back of the steering wheel. This is a special car since only 1500 CLK55s were to be sold in the United States. This one is also unique in color - Ice Blue. The car is fitted with AMG shocks, springs, and anti-roll bars providing the perfect balance between comfort and high performance. The tires are 225/45 fronts and 245/45 rears on 17-inch rims. Braking is provided by 13.6-inch-front and 11.8-inch-rear brake rotors with four-piston-front and two-piston-rear monoblock calipers respectively. This car sold for a base price of $70,770 when new. As optioned this specific vehicle was in the mid $82K range. We are the third owner, and bought the car from the dealer showroom floor, in January of 2006, with only 9,552 miles. The car is designed to cruise effortlessly, but when necessary, can change its attitude, accompanied by the rich sound of a naturally aspirate V8 and an AMG tuned exhaust system. The ride is both comfortable and controlled, with good road isolation, befitting a cruiser. The rack-and-pinion steering is accurate and precise. This car has been driven by one person exclusively, since purchase. Maintenance has been assiduous, and at the Mercedes Benz dealership. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale
Fri, 10 May 2013There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead

We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.
