2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK55 AMG

CLK55 AMG-BLACK/BLK W/Blue -ONLY 37K MLS-ALL STOCK-2OWNER-ADULT OWNED/DRIVEN-VERY CLEAN!!

This 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG is an un-altered, low mileage, 2-owner, black beauty. I am the second adult owner, having purchased the car with less than 9000 miles on the odometer in August of 2004 from Wagner Mercedes of Shrewsbury, MA.  The car has always been garage kept, has never been driven during the winter since I’ve owned it, and was rarely (3 times that I can recall) driven in the rain. All maintenance was performed by Wagner Mercedes-Benz.

The car comes in a beautiful Black exterior over a beautiful two-tone Black with Blue accented Leather interior. In 2001, this CLK55 AMG was the car that started the V-8 horsepower wars between the European auto manufacturers and offers the power and handling of a performance coupe with the solidity and features expected in a Mercedes-Benz. With it’s 5.5L V8 AMG engine producing 342 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, distinctive AMG styling, and AMG tuned suspension, and throaty exhaust note, it delivers an exhilarating drive every time.

Features include Heated Seats, Automatic Climate Control, 6-CD changer, Power Windows, Power Sunroof, HID Headlights, 5-Spoke AMG Wheels, 8-way adjustable power seats with lumber, thigh, and hip adjustment. Also comes with Full Books, Spare Key, and original carpeted floor mats with AMG logo.

With only 37,769 miles on the odometer, this CLK may be one of the lowest mileage CLK55 Coupes in the country. The former and present owner of this CLK clearly took great care of the vehicle throughout their ownership. The exterior displays only one noticeable 1/2-inch diameter blemish on the driver’s door, and a 1/4-inch scratch on the top of rear bumper (see pictures). (I chose not to have the door refinished as the blemish isn’t noticeable farther than 2 feet away.) There are absolutely no door dings anywhere on the car! I’d rate the exterior a 9.5 out of 10 and the NON-SMOKER interior is in nearly showroom-clean condition with no evidence of any extended use or abnormal wear to be seen. I’d rate the interior a 9.8 out of 10.

Finding another CLK55 with such low miles and clean condition will be rare. If you desire an un-altered, well cared for, low mileage CLK55, don’t let this one get away!

Pre-buy inspections welcome. For more information or questions call Wayne at (508) 713-2472 or email at sonnettwh@aim.com  (Vehicle will not be available for inspection on Saturday, August 30th) This 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next proud enthusiast today!

Vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty given or implied. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason.

Mercedes spent ˆ250 million to win Formula One titles last year

Thu, Feb 5 2015

Success in Formula One requires skill, diligence, commitment and ingenuity. It also takes truckloads of money. In the case of Mercedes in last year's world championship, in which it took both the drivers' and constructors' titles in dominant style, those truckloads came to ˆ250 million last season alone – equivalent to over $285m in dead presidents. A report from Germany's own Auto Motor und Sport details the staggering investment that Mercedes made in order to get to the winner's circle last season. After 15 seasons with McLaren netting one constructors' and three drivers' titles, Mercedes motorsport chief Norbert Haug convinced the Daimler board late in 2009 to take over the Brawn GP team that had just won the championship. Because the team would be getting a large payout from Bernie Ecclestone as the returning champions the following year, and with sponsors lined up, Daimler only had to pony up a small portion of a smaller budget: in 2010 (its first season under the Mercedes banner), the team ran on a budget of "only" ˆ153 million ($175m). Over the course of the following seasons, though, the team's share of the TV revenues from Formula One Management went down as Mercedes struggled to climb back up the standings, but successive advocates (including Haug, Ross Brawn and Niki Lauda) successfully convinced the bean-counters in Stuttgart to ratchet up the payments. By 2012, the budget was expanded to ˆ200 million, and further climbed to ˆ250 million in 2013 and 2014. Fortunately for Daimler, the investment was starting to pay off by then as the team finished second in the constructors' standings in 2013, bringing ˆ74 million in from Ecclestone's coffers to cover roughly a third of the budget. With Malaysian oil giant Petronas alone kicking in upwards of another ˆ30 million per season as title sponsor (as of 2009 when it signed on), and untold millions more coming in from other partners, it looks like the actual cost to Daimler for securing both world titles and a winning reputation was actually more like hundred million or so.

2016 Mercedes CLA and GLA get more power, quicker

Tue, Jul 14 2015

Unlike in Europe, Mercedes-Benz doesn't have hyper hatches like the Audi RS3 to compete against in North America, at least not yet. However, the company isn't letting its high-performance compacts get behind the times anywhere in the world with the announcement that the CLA45 AMG and GLA45 AMG in the US are getting practically the same raft of upgrades as the ones across the pond. Both models go on sale in October in US dealers. Like its European counterpart, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the diminutive AMGs receives upgrades to produce 375 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque (the 381 hp rating over there is in metric ponies). That's an impressive 20-horsepower and 18 lb-ft bump over the current version of the mill. Beyond just the boost in output, quicker acceleration comes from revised, more aggressive ratios in third through seventh gears. The latest AMGs make great use of their upgrades, too. The 2016 GLA45 now clocks the run to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds, a staggering half-second quicker than the 2015 model. The CLA45 slices 0.3 seconds off its time to make the sprint in 4.1 seconds, which gives the sedan the same acceleration as a SL63 AMG. In addition to the powertrain tweaks, the 2016 models get a few other added luxuries. As in Europe, they receive the Dynamic Select System that uses a rotary knob select from multiple driving modes. Inside, there's standard keyless start, dual-zone climate controls, and Mercedes' latest infotainment unit. A "Turbo 4Matic" badge on the fender now hints at the vehicles' performance potential. The new Dynamic Plus Package is the major addition to the options list. It combines a limited slip differential at the front, AMG Adaptive Suspension, Race Mode, Performance Steering Wheel, and pushes the top speed to 167 mph. At the same time, the AMG Driver's Package is discontinued, and the AMG Performance Studio Package is dropped on the CLA45. Related Video:
